When they say “trust the process”… please do! Look how difficult it was cutting the red off and look at you now!! Just flourishing!! I love to see it! Great job 👏🏾
I wanna add an often overlooked factor... internal wellbeing/happiness. Jess seems to be in a really good place in her personal life. That definitely contributes to internal health and things growing at a reasonably steady process.
When there’s steam coming out while straightening it just means the heat protectant is doing it’s job….However, if you hear something sizzling and the hair is starting to stick to your straightener, now that’s a different story 🥲
Thanks for clarifying the first part (whew 😅)….But what does it mean when the hair sticks to the iron, while sizzling?? Bcz my hair has done that in the past 🥺
Hey gal no when the heat comes off while straightening that means it’s the product you put on its not heat damage your hair looks great fav RUclipsr blessed be😊🙏🏾
Agreed. My daughter has ur exact texture and it’s not heat trained. I have pressed it on 400 and her hair is fine. The smoke is definitely from product especially if it’s oil…..
I agree. Don't You worry about that steam,, you are working at 425 degrees. You gonna see heat regardless. You did a great job clipping your own ends. Sometimes, not all cases, you get a scissor happy professional. Just keep doing little by little. It looks healthy. Great style!
Yeah that’s true ! But as soon as your hair starts to fry and it’s starts to break off and stick to the straightener…that’s when you know you fcked up 👀
TIPS: Trim after flat iron. Yes, flat iron in small sections. Pass iron over roots twice. Ends only once. Great job! You're hair growth is amazing. Yes honey! The finished product was 🔥 The smoke was the heat protectant doing what it's supposed to do.
First of all let me just say, Jess looks like a Barbie Doll🥺💕 Second, the quality on this camera is GIVINGGG. Never regret investing in yourself, I’m glad you did with this camera, keep the great content coming✨
Yasss come on Jess with the length! I have thick coarse hair and I flatiron at least twice a year the most. As long as you have good heat protecter and don't use excessive heat while it straight you should be fine. The smoke coming from your flatiron is just from the products you use like the heat protecter.
I’ve been iffing and butting about flat ironing my hair but this did it for me sis! Thank you so much for the amazing content ❤️ it’s the hair growth for meeeee!!!! Love form 🇯🇲
Loooove the look! I’ve been waiting for a hair trimming video for so long, so happy about this. Also I don’t know how people not bump their ends after flat ironing, I love the bumped look!
Un unhhh...Jess we gotta fight. How your hair grow so quick and I'm over here still looking like Tommy Pickles. 😂😂 but I'm so proud of your journey. I remember you cutting all the color out... now look at you! 👌🏾🙌🏾
Girl I thought I was the only one with that struggle. I shaved my hair off Nov 2021 and the growth and thickness is amazing but BRUH!!!! 🤥 Who has got the time!!!???!!! 🙃
Girl the gold series detangling milk is the TRUTH !! I’ve been using it for so many years and girl my hair loves it like it’s a drug. It takes like 2-3 pumps to detangle a whole half of my bed but we love moisture so I use more depending on what I’m doing to my hair
Girl, u inspired me! I swear u haven't steered me wrong yet! I woke up this morning wanting straight hair and I decided to do a blow out/silk press on my hair. I don't use heat n my hair at all so I was so surprised at how long my hair is. I'm at armpit length! I've only been natural for 20 months and that's a huge accomplishment bcuz my hair was not even 2 inches when I big chopped.
When I see people flat iron their hair with ease I’m always amazed. I’m great at all other styles but when it comes to flat ironing my own hair it never gets as straight as I like. OAN, sis you hair grew back in a flash and more luscious and gorgeous. Resembling Keisha knight Pulliam.
Wow this is so beautiful. My hair looks exactly like yours when it's washed . I haven't used heat on my hair in a long time too so I want to do that next year and get a professional silk press. I can't wait
I silk press and trim my hair last night. I curl my hair too 🤗 And I was impressed listen I was shaking my head lol 😂 Love your hair though ❤️ hair growth tips please 🙏🏽
Jess..it came out SO GOOD!! I was loving it straight yes but when you put them curls innn...I was like yes sisss 🥵🤗😘 also, yes to the growth...I love that for you ❤❤
Hey Curl friend! I highly recommend a Clarifying shampoo like Kenra /paul mitchell/ or Design essentials first! I promise it's work it then a Hydrating shampoo 1 or 2 times then Condish! Thanks honey!
The steam is product interacting with the heat. You should be heat damage free with the one pass. You will be fine. Your hair is beautiful. I need to buy this flat iron because my tool jumps from 390 to 450. 😆
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous, might I suggest you try oraplex 0,3 and 6 treatment on hair . As a follow-up treatment when you decide to revert back. A little pricey, but well worth it.
Hello beautiful lady!I wanted to say that I think its best to wash all the moisturizing products out of your hair before straighting the hair why? Because I think that the moisturizer help break the hair during the straighting process. Back in the 70s my sister use to silk press my hair once and a while and I never got heat damage. Because my hair only got water and greased daily. Washed ever two weeks and my hair was passed my shoulders. So I just wanted to say that your hair is really looking good girl!!! ❤️ May God continue to bless you on your hair care journey. Much love for you. 💕 💞 ♥️
It amazing how fast your hair is growing. I watched you big chop. After your damage. I’ve been growing my hair for 9 years and it’s no where close to your length!!
It looked beautiful, it was a little heavy tho...I think it was because of what I think was a leave in that was creamy before you blow dried, you never want use products of that consistency when flat ironing. If you condition your hair well before hand its all you really need to protect your hair from heat,to tell the truth if your hair is well conditioned first you really don't even need heat protectant which is so heavily promoted.Umm when you flipped it to the side.....LIFE!!!!!!
From what I know from the professional, like "deeper than hair TV" she is a professional hairstylist and she explains that the steam is because of the product working or product being on the hair and not heat damage. I personally don't think you have heat damage, particularly because you use heat protection and because you used one pass, it's less likely that it got damaged from what I know, of course every hair is different and I pray you didn't get heat damage because your hair is lovely and I don't want that for you, but I don't think you did. I hope what I said helps.
I bought the blue detangling brush you used but here in Ja and it rips my hair out. Ofc, I wet my hair before detangling , ends to roots .. yeah all that But it still tears it out I had to go back to my comb😭😭
Looking good!!! So glad you love it. Got me thinking I can do mine to but the way these roots set up 🙃😅 #reversion lol What was Johnathan and friends/fam reaction since it’s been such a long time?
Jess actually my hair stylist and other hair stylist I've spoken said you will get smoke when flat ironing if you still have product in your hair after washing which just means you really need to wash it good twice. You also could have sprayed to much heat protectant on your hair.. Now if you smell burning hair while your flat ironing pretty much means your burning your hair and to flat iron on a lower setting.
I don’t think it’s heat damage, it’s the product you put in your hair burning off. If you added a lot of product then yeah it can cause damage but you put in a minimum amount. Your hair looks amazing 💜
Ok watching this helped a lot 😊 I called myself flat ironing mine about a month ago but was so nervous to take it over 400°. My hair is more coarse than I thought 😬 so it came out more like a blowout 🤣
When smoke is coming from.tjr flat iron it because of the heat protestant it will not because your is fried cheap bad quality glat irons don't do it just has your hair smelling like you flat iron which is not good and trying take the smell out doesn't work You did a good job and the trim too👍👏🙌😍
When they say “trust the process”… please do! Look how difficult it was cutting the red off and look at you now!! Just flourishing!! I love to see it! Great job 👏🏾
Thank you so much!! Trust the process is a real thing for sure! ❤️

Ooo yea that sounds horrible, none of that happened on my end so maybe we’re alright lol
Thanks for clarifying the first part (whew 😅)….But what does it mean when the hair sticks to the iron, while sizzling?? Bcz my hair has done that in the past 🥺

@@OnlyOneJess you do not have to do the roots 2 times IF you have a good blow dryer and flat iron 🙄

Beautiful hair and great job.black.is.beautiful
You weren’t frying your hair. It was just steam from the heat protectant.
You did that. And great idea to leave the actual trim to the professionals. ❤️
That’s not true! The smoke you see is the product you put on your hair
Awesome job on the silk press! Thanks for sharing, Jess!
