  • Hey guys just an update. I did not realize that the font in the video was the wrong font. I apologize for this. I use Adobe Premier Pro and unfortunately you have to have creative cloud open to use a particular font. Well I had to restart my computer to have Premier render my video and low and behold I forgot to also open Adobe creative cloud for the downloaded fonts. I was so disappointed that this happened, unfortunately I cannot re-upload a new version because it will take away any of the progress that this video has made on RUclips. As a growing RUclipsr and channel this is vital to my success and to keep growing this channel and this community.

      @richardmao1023 Yes, it is unfortunate that the Nikon D80 is the very last camera Nikon made with the CCD sensor. It is so different than the CMOS sensor. I love the colors that it produces. Thank you so much for watching my video. Hope all is well.

    Love my D50 for the autofocus motor. Great choice of lenses. I got a really old 18mm autofocus lens and it all works. Coming from an F80 everything feels familiar its so good I love it

    I bought my Nikon D80 back in 2007. I think I paid $800 for it with a kit lens. I've since upgraded and switch to a Fuji X-T3, but I still have my Nikon. I decided to break it out for a shoot this weekend.

    There's a somewhat DIY-able repair guide for the aperture lever motor encoder error. It involves tearing the camera most of the way down and superglueing some metal contacts back onto a plastic wheel.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  2 месяца назад

      @yueibm Yes there is a guide on how to do it, unfortunately this camera is notorious for this problem. The breakdown of the camera takes time but I have seen that it does work in the end result.

    I decided I would purchase a D200 or D80 about 6 months ago. After watching many reviews and reading the specs I bought the D80 because it uses the more common SD card instead of the obsolete CF card. Frames per second doesn't matter to most of us who are buying these old Nikons for the film-like CCD sensors. BTW, nice images at the end of the video.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  5 месяцев назад

      @GirdHerd Hi, I have to say I love my D80 and the SD card slot option is very helpful because the majority of my memory cards are SD cards. Yes I agree with you, the CCD sensor matters more to me than the FPS. Thank you I am happy you enjoyed the images. Thank you for watching my video! I hope all is well.

    Hi Kris.
    Lovely pictures at the end mate.
    A light metering tutorial would be most helpful, especially if you were to include night time street photography along with the D300s and a NON VR lens 😅. I'm always trying to squeeze as much light through my kit lenses as possible.
    I need a job so that I can get myself some prime VR lenses.

    • @Kris_World

      @badger67 Hi Dave! Its great to hear from you buddy. I hope your doing well! Thank you so much I'm happy you enjoyed my images.
      I really appreciate that! Lol! Well I know someone who can shoot amazing images at night and in my opinion could probably teach me a thing or two. That would be You, my good friend! You take amazing night-time photos! I own a few non VR lenses and the only way I think you can get around the blur is to boost your ISO a bit.. Also try using spot or center-weight metering you might be able to squeeze more light into your sensor that way. But let me tell you having a nice VR prime would be nice. When I get some time off I would love to make a video tutorial about metering at night with that gear. I buy all my used equipment on MPB which is located in New York. They have really great deals sometimes. They have a couple in Europe as well I believe, including the UK. Hope all is well my friend and that you and your camera capture some more amazing images. Always a pleasure my friend.

      @@Kris_World bless you mate.
      I use the spot metering for everything including landscape. 😁
      I have occasionally used auto ISO to get that quicker shutter speed, but I'm such a manual man 😂.
      Keep up the good work mate 👍

      @badger67 Hey, the way I am seeing it, spot metering gives you the most light in a lot of situations. Seeing your photos tells me that this is really working well for you because your photos are amazing. I hope you're doing well buddy. Thank you so much for the positive feedback. Sorry this message is late.

    I have the D80 and I'm going to iceland so want to capture the northern lights but every time I take night photos, they are blurry :( How do I fix this?

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  7 месяцев назад +2

      @shanc1532 Hi, the D80 is a fantastic camera but it does lack in some areas. The best answer that I can give you is to make sure that you bring a tripod and a wireless remote for your camera on your trip. That is the best way to capture stunning images at night especially of the northern lights. So when you go to set up your camera put the D80 on remote mode and you can either use your timer or use bulb mode by spinning your shutter dial all the way until you see bulb. That way you can time your exposure perfectly. On your lens also make sure that you have VR turned off when you are using a tripod. If you have VR turned on while using a tripod, you can defiantly have an issue and get blurry images, because VR is constantly trying to adjust for camera shake. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. Thank you for watching my video.

    is 80-200 push pull working AF for this D80?

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  4 месяца назад

      @MusphyOfficial Hi, yes that lens should work perfectly on the D80 as long as it is an AF lens. The Ai-s 80-200mm will not work properly on the D80. Thank you for watching!

    The D80 seems to be a similiar camera to the D200, but the later is older? I have the d200 and like that you can put old legacy glass on it. It appears that the D80 cannot accept these older lens because of a missing aperature tab.

    • @Kris_World
      @Kris_World  4 месяца назад +1

      @GSchmitable Hi! So as long as the camera has a non CPU lens mode in the settings, it should take legacy lenses all the way back to the AI/AI-S series. Anything before that will actually break newer modern day cameras because of the way that they are built. I have both the Nikon D80 and The D200 and love both for different reasons. The D80 was released after the D200 but lacks a lot of the loved features that the Nikon D200 has, one of those being the Non-CPU lens mode. I love the D80 for its compact size and for its CCD sensor but you are correct it cannot except older glass because that menu function does not exist. Thank you for watching my video.
