    Nicely done and your point about Kings having some good stuff is valid IMHO.
    I have a 75L Kings dual zone in the camper with 600W of solar so AH use of the fridge is of no consequence. Basically the system will run forever without external power - vehicle or plug in mains charger.

    Another great video Dino.
    Wondering if you are able to do any testing of a fridge with the insulation around it with and without (fridge cover). I have the waeco with the insulation and I'm not really sure if it's actually beneficial on those hot days in the van. The fridge is never in the sun but the heat around the cover seems somewhat hot and I'm concerned it traps the heat in.

    • @EFFICIENTSELF
      @EFFICIENTSELF  Год назад +3

      cheers tony ..Unfortunately not I don’t have a cover for this fridge to try. I’m not a fan of the covers after having my 60 litre kings running full time on freezer with the cover and mould started forming in between the cover and the fridge . never had this issue running on fridge though . thanks for watching 👍🍻

      On 4wd 24/7 Simon did some very scientific testing on fridges with & without covers & found that they used more power with a cover & struggled more to maintain temp, this is mainly due to the venting mesh of the covers restricting airflow over the condenser, the covers become more beneficial & fridge efficiency improves if u remove most of the vent area flyscreen mesh sadly.

    Good review but numbers seem a bit odd. When fridge was running it was pulling 4a. I find it had to believe it only pulled about 1a/hr in a hot test like that. Engels pull 2.7a and in a controlled test some years back pulled 1.7a/hr average. So wondering if there is an error in there?

    • @EFFICIENTSELF
      @EFFICIENTSELF  29 дней назад

      You raise a valid point. The fridge pulling 4A while running does seem inconsistent with the 1A/hr average in such a hot test. It’s possible the lower figure reflects an extended cycle off-time due to high efficiency or insulation, but I agree it seems unusually low compared to something like an Engel. I’ll do another video hopefully soon in similar hot conditions and I will retest to ensure there wasn’t an error. Thanks again for pointing this out and thanks for watching 👍🍻

    Good video Dino. Nothing wrong with purchasing kings mate. There is certainly a place in the market for them mate.
    I’m looking at their 270 awning with poles for the old 80. Just waiting to catch it on sale. There were a few days it was listed for $199 and now it’s gone up again lol
    Hope all the family are well mate?

    Hi, thanks for this. Currently looking for a 12v fridge, so this is helpful to see. I have had my eye on a 40L Engel ($$$$), but am also getting served a "special price" on social media for Kings - the next size up from the one you have here. I bought 2 unbranded "fridges" that turned out to be heater/coolers and not efficient (use about 50 watts consistently and won't get properly cold unless the day is cold, ie no good in 40 degree heat because of the way they work). Kings actually have a note about these on the page where they sell their fridges. Can you please tell me what I'd need to buy to get that same readout as what you have here (the bit showing kilowatt hours and how long it's running)? I don't have a car setup, I'm using portable power stations.

    Hi Dino, how are you? I watched this video few months ago. I just wondering how's the fridge now? is it still running well? I would like to purchase this fridge but I really want to find out if it's a good quality or not? thanks Dino

      Hey Nora . Been going good thanks . Fridge going good also ,hasn’t skipped a beat and been running full time since I purchased October 2022 for $199 so it’s almost been a year . Have seen these at times for $189 with no fridge cover (works absolutely fine without it) so if you keep a watch out on the website and Black Friday sales will be coming up shortly also you will nail a bargain . Probably the best bang for buck fridge I have had . Hope this helps . Travel safely ,Take care 👍🍻

    It does not look like 20L fridge - the one I found on KING's website has that stupid handles on its sides and looks differently. Is your one an older model maybe? Cheers.

      If you could put ice cream in the fridge and dial to -18. And see if it could cope with 40 deg C ambient that would be a great test.
      Cheers Jack

    On a hot day 38-45C they will use 10x more power than on a 25C day stay away from ebay lithium ion batteries the one i bought claimed to be 100amp hour when pulled apart by technician it was only 56 Amp hour. The ACCC is a needs to fine these scammers, remember that the last 15% of the lithium ion battery cannot be used due to the voltage dropping below 12 volts which pretty much renders a battery like that useless for camping and caravaning, unless you are in a 24/7 sunny part of Australia By taking all of this into account its a 40 amp hour battery, not a 100 by any stretch of the imagination
