    My $15 garage sale igloo ice chest works fine, ice lasts 5 days, I never camp longer than that. I really thought about one of these then realized I don't need one. Maybe if I was going out for two weeks but then it won't hold enough food so I have to go to the store anyway so I might as well get ice while I'm there and I don't need a battery or solar to run the ice chest.

      While I agree it’s unnecessary if you can deal with water getting into your food which is my biggest reason for getting a fridge my self. I rather spend time having fun and not have to loose time searching for ice. And while you do that I’ll enjoy a cold beer and the occasional ice cream.

    • @armadilllo
      @armadilllo 5 дней назад

      @@abeld.4008 that's why Tupperware was invented and there is nothing like reaching into real ice for that first camping beer. Like I said, the longest I ever camp is 5 days so there is no search for ice, I also don't have to search for cold water because I freeze a couple 2 liter bottles and drink it as it melts while keeping everything cold in the ice chest at the same time and no batteries to worry about. If I want a fridge I'll use the motorhome.

    I used my buddys iceco before buying mine and I can say that for over another hundred dollars cheaper you should purchase the setpower version of this fridge. It’s just as well built and works very well. It’s identical to this iceco

    While ICECO is top of the line and has a premium compressor, I still prefer my cheap Bodega. Why? My Bodega has removable baskets to lighten the load with two or three trips instead of getting a hernia. If you have a flat path you can use the pull-out handle and roll on wheels. The Bodego opens with a single pull handle and when you open the lid LED lights come on. The lid can also be oriented to open on the opposite side. Oh, it also has a built-in pull-out battery pack. Lastly I'm not worried about scuffing up the blue dimpled plastic housing on the Bodega. The shiny smooth aluminum finish on the ICECO would probably show ever little dent and scratch.

      As I know ICECO's jppro series also comes with wheels, baskets and led lights, and with magnetic power bank can also be used as an alternative "built-in battery" fridge. Also Secop compressors do a really good job of silence and power saving.

    Freaking amazing how efficient a DC compressor works with a DC power supply. My Costco priced Igloo ICF 80DZ consumes around 700 Wh/Day… that’s 14 days on a 10 kWh battery or forever with 1 hour of EcoFlow alternator charging daily.

    Question: Casey when you're on the road how do you power the Iceco cooler. Are you using the supplied DC 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter directly into the vehicle or do you run it into your Ecoflow Delta 2 max. Or are you running it using the AC adapter plugged into the Delta 2 max.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  9 дней назад +1

      Something else. I have a 12v converter that puts out 30amps DC. I plug that into the AC on the Delta 2. Then it's going to run to a 12v fuse block in the bed of the truck. From there I can wire the fridge directly to the fuse block. The converter isn't as efficient running the inverter but it gets me more DC amps into the bed of the truck for lighting as well.

    I wouldn't get a cooler with integrated power storage. If I were to get a powered cooler I would get one that runs off of external power only, for the reason of versatility (having shore power, or car power etc) and also external battery bank can be replaced independently of cooler. Also would not get powered cooler unless your use case is falling out of a maximized non- powered cooler, getting one with better thermal efficiency, precooling the cooler the night before you leave, and freezing all possible food items, and refrigerating the rest ensures that cooler space will be going towards the frozen solid food items rather than packing cooling ice. All these tips together will ensure a cooler that can easily sustain safe temps for a week.
