$174, a weekend, and a sore finger. Your accord looks $1000 better. Totally worth it.
There's a great tool I put on top of the cans that you could use a trigger. For a person who has used a lot of dip, it's a finger saver.
For a teenager car, that was amazing. An affordable paint job on a vehicle that needed some help. Earl Scheib would have been proud!
Who is Earl Scheib? May I ask?
Looks better than it did. Here's a tip, they sell a handle that attaches to spray cans that truly makes it easier to spray large quantities of rattle can paint.
I was going to recommend the same!!!! I feel so sorry for your finger your insane!!
Name of handle?
I wish I could go back 3 years and tell you about the"Aerosol Trigger handles" that you can put on the spray can so your finger doesn't hurt.... as much.
The car turned out FANTASTIC. I would have to add the cost of the mask to this job's cost and you don't want to buy a cheap Ali-Express or TEMU one 🤣
I like the AFFORD logo on the back... nice touch.
Great job! Great Dad! That’s how you teach your children A+
I think that turned out pretty amazing! Great job! And for under $200-you can’t beat it!
I wasn’t expecting it to look so great. It looks fresh and clean in the matte white.
I would personally go for gloss paint but that looks a lot better then it did.
It’s gonna drip like a bitch especially from a spray can
Nah this is a much cooler look. Everyone has that glossy look
You can coat it with plasti-dip glossifier afterwards for a gloss finish.
The all new Honda Afford. Looks amazing and the quality time with your kids was a added bonus I'm sure.
I have peeling door handles and a clear coat deprived hood on mine. May have to do this🤔
Unreal transformation! The low cost makes it even more spectacular
And no, it doesn't look like trash. It USED TO look like trash.
This was a fun experiment. You can buy a proper PlastiDip car kit (more paint plus DYC sprayer) for about $470 at dipyourcar.com but my goal here was to see how inexpensively we could paint this car and still have it look decent. If we decide to remove the PlastiDip from this car some day we'll post an update video.
Looks good
It looks unique and different. An antidote to the sameyness we see every day on the roads. More power to you man.
Nice job !!! I’ve use Plasti Dip on my rims and to delete the chrome trim on my car but never Dip a whole car your video has inspired me to give it a try
This is like an episode of pimp my ride!!!!!! Well done sir!
Really glad you shared this, thank you! I have a 2007 Mazda 3 that sits most of the time and the paint got ruined from some hard water sprinklers. I was able to get it cleaned up, but it was bad enough that a lot of the clearcoat has started to come off and it just looks awful. I might have to make this a weekend project! Thanks again!
That came out really nice, car looks new, at least from a distance, and 1000% better than the wreck you started with.
Nice job ! I would have used a trigger for the can, avoids the drips and helps with better even coat. Very affordable too. Look into it next time.
You guys did a great job. My nephew also drives the same car and indeed it runs forever. It has 180.000 miles on it and still runs fine. His car is a 2004, and the paint isn't that cracked up to be anymore. So thanks for this vid, it would be something duable for us.
Fantastic car looks in the universe shape great job, most of all your honesty that alone speaks about your Integrity excellent job, keep it up.
It amazes me it turned out so good with just spray cans
Great video. I'm sure Fonzie from Dip Your Car is having a stroke watching this. 🤣
My thoughts exactly 😂
He commented lmao
I am impressed with how well that tuned out. Great video. I've seen people use a grip attachment on rattle cans before to make it easier. I wonder if that would work on Plasti Dip cans
It does
They sell some
Did that say afford or accord
Yeah! It's a Honda Afford!
Well, is it a Honda or a Ford!? Make up your mind.
It's a Honda Afford.
What are you, a Italian!?
It's an accord
you can afford
He said accord
i'm dying ☠️☠️☠️
Peep the emblem on the back
I've been thinking about doing this for my kids VW beetle. It needs a bit of sanding due to the clear coming off, but other than that it's fine. I've plastidipped some rims before and they came out awesome, so yeah. Doing this on a childs first car seems doable. I like the way it came out also. Good job and that's awesome getting the teenager involved.
Shouldn't of took you 20 or more spay can. The problem was that you was spraying way to close and not allowing the paint to have a more wider spread
My heart knew this was in Utah the moment I started watching this video. Didn't even need to see the jazz sticker or church in the background to know 😂
For using just spray cans this isnt bad! Of course I'd still recommend when doing full cars to use the actual spray kit, but for a teens first car looks much better! Nice work!
The body looks great. I would've left the original rims instead of the black.
What, you don't like the glorious, peeling look of 'plasti-dip special'?
It’s not that the rims look bad, it’s that the car needs larger tires.
Original rims better.
😊
I did a similar thing on my "daily driver". Paint was sun faded bad so I painted it in summit racing primer black. I've having to constantly respray it until I decide what to do next. What I learned... just get a gallon of paint and a cheap sprayer and it will turn out better and cheaper than those crappy rattle cans!
Use rust oleum lmao
Because you gotta do maintenance on the plasti dip. They sell a substance for it
Good improvement for the cost! That white paint job looks pretty decent for rattle cans. Bet your kids appreciate it.
Nice work! That took a lot of patience to do and you did good. Thanks for the video.
So I've done this to a couple of cars and I'd recommend not doing white. Since it is a textured finish it gathers a lot of dirt and its really hard to clean without taking the coating off.
Good to know! We'll see how this one holds up. I like the look of the matte black too.
@@LRN2DIY another thing to be careful of is oil and gas, both of those are really hard on the plastidip. I'm really excited to see how you're trailer comes along. I've got an old trailer I've considered fixing up and watching you will really help.
I really like the way you teach me how exactly paint a car by spray Cans. But i have a question which i need your own answer.
Will this spray Cans exist long or it will erase by the sunlight???????
Wow! That white really makes it look a lot better!
Got a ‘97 jeep that lost her sparkle.. totally gonna try this way first
You can get an aerosol handle that makes spraying less painful.
Finger is fine for one can, but an aerosol trigger is better 👍
Forest, a 2005 Honda AFFORD.. Priceless! Looks good too!
Looks good to me when the wheels were silver they looked better.
Great job DIY guy. Love the video and the car looked much better after!
Not bad at all for a rattle can, looks clean now!
Nice job
I would highly recommend getting the handle trigger that clips to the can. Saves your finger!
Great effort and great job. Throwing the paint on is just the last stage in this colossal job. If you came to the point of having the whole body ready for paint, having the rubber seals, handles and other stuff off your way is not so much more jib and it might make a huge difference in your final product, getting practically profissional, because the real hard stuff is straighting, puttying and sanding. Paint job as manouvering the paint gun is just wonderful sensation. You should try it. Congratulations
7:25 Just noticed it said Afford lol
The F is for Forest 😂❤
Had to have a bit of fun with it.
I've considered the same sort of thing for our 2nd car that is showing signs of wear on the finish. It's hard to imagine you wouldn't have known up front to use a spray can trigger handle. They're only about $5 and so much easier on the hand than gripping the can and pushing the nozzle with your fingers.
Hi what you could do around the bottom window frame you could add some graphic Stripe something like a carbon fiber to hide the gaps
Great Job. you are a good fixer upper. Your next fixer upper that need to do and video tape as well and obviously get it fix is that you go to the middle east and assemble some peaceful solutions for them fast and lasting. I am sure you are able. Love the way the car looks.
I like it. I'm all about diy and inexpensive.
It looks a 100% better! Good job, But I was wondering how long does the plastic dip last on a vehicle? And is it safe to take it through a car wash or will it melt off you stuff are coming off during the car wash
I love this. Don't know what to think, but I love it.
So you just sanded it down with the final 220 grit and then washed it?
Nice video
Came out cool, looks much better
I had a 2001 Honda that was approaching 300k miles. It was still running great, but an accident forced me to find a different car.
Me too! I have one with 200k. Do you think it would look decent plasti dipped or factory color?
@@brisatrujillo7228 If I still had it, I probably wouldn't plastidip it unless it had multiple colored doors or panels. That or it looked awful for some other reason.
Next time use a spray can trigger. It saves your hands.
Def looks better, they make a nice cheap spray can trigger too. Can help a lot with finger fatigue. But clean that tip often.
More fine work finely done!
Looks awesome I been debating doing this for 2 months you jus encouraged me to do it I jus dont have a garage
Amazing job! I'm going to do this for my van.
Some good ole window tint and it’s good to go👍🏾👍🏾 well done
This brings me so much joy!
Looks good I didn't think I would need that many cans
Great job! Looks way better than before.
Man this came out awesome 😎
Swell , I’m sold …………. can’t beat that for the price , again thank you .
Looks way better good job
That came out pretty good. Im really thinking of doing this with my car now
White rustoleum turbo paint would’ve looked really good too. Taken less cans as well.
I have a 1999 Accord. Plastic bumpers. Do you sand those as well? Any sanding advice is appreciated. 120 grit. Orbital sander, right?
Amazing job!!!
Came out real nice!!!
Thanks for the tips!!!
That looks amazing! Now I want to do my car
nice transformation :) well done
That thing looks amazing
Looks way better then before
Getto Painting Tip: Use both hands to spray 2 cans at once! hold them together side-by-side and offset your hand positions a bit as desired.
I think it looks great for what it is! Just curious why you didn't just take the wheels off the car to paint them-because then you could've derusted and painted the calipers too! Also, how does it stand up to washes?
How do you go about washing the car? Is it hard to get dirt off? Do you use any special products or do you just go to a DIY car wash and use the pressure washer? Or do you go through an automatic carwash?
I diy parts of my truck and my wheels.
Next I'm doing my canopy I just bought for the truck. For the rims you probably should have done a coat of primer like you did on the car.
It certainly improved it
Looks good just swap the wheels over so they're all facing the same direction lol
Could you use an exacto knife around the windows?
Very nice end look for self made project how does the dip hold up the high presure washing ? Im curious to know since i have few ideas for my car too
tip to prevent sore finger: you can 3d-print a type of lever or trigger for spraypaint-can.
Pretty decent, interesting ! I wonder if it could be clear coated to get a shine. Can you try a part of some kind and post it ? Also, I think it would look much better with the wheels matching the body color in white, or just like the silver they were. My 2 cents ! Thanks for all the step-by- step info, very helpful.
Great job came out pretty damn good
Pretty dang good job..looks awesome 👍👍👍👍
For the fingers hurting, Amazon sells a spray paint handgun. It’s like a sprayer for professional use but you load a spray paint can.
It looks awesome! Great job!
The car turned out great ive seen that plasti dip but it sounded like it was easy to peel off by what ive seen here it didnt.. i have 1 question did u have to cut around the emblems and ho did u get itnoffnthe rubber tire..
planning on going from tan to white on my 07 soon...
Buy airgun and normal paint if you're going through the trouble..
O and a compressor. Because that's the point. Buying a lot of stuff for a Car that is maybe worth 500 bucks. Great job.
@@daanhoffman8773 obviously you know nothing if you don't think they have access to shop air/compressor...and think the car sells for $500
Real paint is going to take a lot more knowledge, skill and work to get it done. Plus this guy can’t even do plastidip right so he should definitely stay away from automotive paint.
He is talking about plasti dip car kit. not paint job which I also highly recommend for next one. For the whole car yes you deff should use spray gun much easier and come out much much cleaner and faster. Only few hundred more.
For the budget car it is 12/10!!!!
Looks great. I did like it better with the silver wheels though.
Any update on how the paint held up?
Can u share an update, I've been thinking on doing that bit i want to know how well it last and stay
Does it peal a little going through the car wash?
At 6:48, for whatever reason was the beginning of “Shake it Off,” which would’ve been appropriate with the shaking of the cans 😂
Does the plasti dip can brand come in dark red? I want to do this to my car but keep it’s color :(
Wow! Looks like the car is a hot rod white. The wheels came out nice and you were able to do all of them without any overspray on the white. I woulda tried keeping the lug nuts chrome or paint them black later if you didn’t like the way they looked.👍👍👍
Looks decent, but does it last? Does it scratch easily? And in case that plastidip paint gets damaged can you just fix it up by spraying some more?
Here's the year-and-a-half follow up video to answer your question about longevity. As for the touch up, I've often wondered that but I'm not sure if that would work well or not. ruclips.net/video/JCOM1czgRlY/видео.html
A cool video idea wild be to see if this paint could buff and polish. I doubt it but I’ve never seen it done
You can't buff and polish plasti dip. They do have a new dip armor ceramic coat that makes it much more durable. You can even ceramic coat over dip armor
Well it's not worse, you know you can get those spray paint handles that go on spray cans I've been using one for years.
What spray cans would u recommend
