10:41 you ask "Where did that treasure come from?" really? .... Historically India was the richest place on earth and controlled 1/3rd of World GDP .. During the Roman times specially during Emperor Vespasian .. Rome was in HEAVY DEBT to Indian kingdoms .. Most of Roman Gold/ Silver went India in trade ...and in India Temples were not just "worship place" .. but also like Banks/Donation center and School for young kids .. So its very common to find huge wealth in ancient temples .. even though many invadors attacked & looted it before

If they did not do that the temple would close for good. It does not contribute to pujas which is controlled by a Temple board of private citizens. So, out of ignorance, don't say that the Govt takes away money but gives it to others. That simply isn't true. By the way the Govt. maintains about 27000 temples. Only ancient temples are controlled by the Govt. Temples less than 200 years are all privately maintained. According to our constitution, temples do not fall under the purview of the Central Govt.. The Royal family for centuries poured wealth into the temple and also the neighboring kings over millennia. The royal family who are custodians of the temple, are said to be ardent devotees of the temple. It is even said that they go to the temple before eating every day and what is more amazing is that when they get out of their vehicle and finish their prayers and get back into their vehicle they make sure even a spec of sand of the temple is not carried away in their legs. Meaning, the royal family makes sure it only gives but never takes anything from the temple. Amazing and a huge shout out for the royal family for preserving their traditions and keeping this wealth safe from looters and Islamic invasions.

    There is a common theory
Garuda is an eagle godly being
And Garuda mathra is is a sort of chants and spells related to Garuda.
And it is said that the door is locked by a mathra or spell called Naga bendhana where Naga means snake and that explains the snakes on the door ..
The thoery is that when chanted the eagle spell
The snake spell will wear away. Because snakes are often hunted and scared of eagles .
Some people say that the door is locked with a mechanism that only opens with a specific vibration
That explains why the skilled monk is needed..
If you try to say the word OMM you can clearly see the vibration . The spell must be related..
And ya me and whole ancestors lived 26 km away from this temple

Let's assume there are 3 things that can happen 1) if people of ancient times didn't want us to open that door if it has money it is way more than collective of other doors ) even tho if that's the case other doors should be sealed as well
    2) if people of ancient time held back a bad omen behind that door ) or or if there's something which is very close link to god or proof of presence of superior power it's a probability .
    3) if they have just done that do make others curious that's not I give shot to I mean kings were the royals and wanted their kingdom to be the top one they may be created it just for glory
But my intrest goes towards ( the door is holding something which was very very valuable more than wealth ( might be a very powerful object ) it might as well as can be used to conquer everything ! Or it's a thing which was superior than wealth to ancient people might as well as be secrets of kingdom ? Or dynasty

Thanks for reacting to this and two historical points I wish to share regarding the Temple (It's slightly long but not too much please do read):
    1. In the 1600s - Shri Veera Marthanda Verma renovated and built the entire periphery for the Shri Padmanabha Swamy Temple. This he did by literally shelling out the Kingdom's coffers and those stolen amounts by the "Lords of 8 houses" (a political faction in Travancore Kingdom who were nothing but deceit and cruelty for the common man and local agriculturalists and farmers) for the benefits of the common man and raising the economy of the kingdom. Poor people became well fed and everyone was ensured wealth and happiness. He is the one who is said to have filled the vaults of the Shri Padmanabhaswamy temple with lot of wealth, which he predicted will be required for India in the future when some calamity happens. He literally made it for use in hands of a stable Indian Govt. although a central Govt. never existed in those times, he saw it coming due to lot of colonial influence in the region and requirement of independence. He was a forethinker, scholar and martial artist. He even sat in the open sun to help the common people and sold the entire palace to the Temple telling that everything on the land belonged to Shri Maha Vishnu and he was just a serviceman for the Supreme and his subjects, the people. Literally he lived like that, like a saint. His nephew followed in his footsteps and became Dharma Raja who was the next great ruler of Travancore. A bit on the King below:
The famous king who ended troubles caused by the "Lords of 8 houses" who were wicked and untrustworthy for the people by defeating them and ended Corruption in the southernmost kingdom of India - "The Travancore Kingdom". He was the first to defeat a "European Force", the Dutch forces, on Asian soil in India. The Dutch Naval forces pleaded guilty and asked whether the Maharaja would spare them. He granted them protection and also houses for them and their families to stay but on condition that the Dutch under their Naval captain Eustachius De Lannoy, teach the Indian military (of those times) who were masters of armed fight and guerilla tactics, the European Rifle and Blunderbuss based fighting practices + Canons and Gunpowder. This they did and served under the Travancore kingdom their entire lives, many returned to Netherlands but few remained in support of the King including Eustachius de Lannoy, the captain of the VoC naval fleet who was housed in a castle specially built for him and his wife. There is a lot of things to share about him but available on Wikipedia and other sites.
    2. The innerts of the unopened chamber is also told to hold a n underground/underwater cave which links the Indian Ocean/Arabian Sea's water with that of the foundations of the Temple. Since the Water body being humongous and the passageway to the top (to the locked door) being narrow, giving rise to 'Capillary Effect", it is said that, opening the sealed door and exposing the chamber would lead to difference in pressure levels and sink the entire Temple along with it's treasure and might be also the nearby districts and regions. This is why the term "Calamity" is being used to represent the after effects of opening the door. This mechanism is set to have been engineered by architects during the reign of Shri Marthanda Varma. I personally think it might be to guard the treasures and prevent it from going into the wrong hands. Although a lot of theories but the dedication and fealty the King had to the people who were once oppressed by these feudal lords, goes undoubted. He loved the public and nature but lived comparatively a short life. He was on the run since childhood , protecting himself from getting killed by the feudal lords and never had the pleasure to even experience a Mother or Father. He was orphaned at birth as his mother (the previous king's sister) died in childbirth. He was looked after and grown by his uncle and aunt. From the young age of 12 or 13 however , he had already faced enough plots to kill him. Being an able warrior since childhood with a razor sharp intellect, he survived all these challenges. Moreover it is said in his flight , he travelled the entire of Bharat (India), gauged the situation, made friends from all religions and cultures, even the British to put a stop to the Feudal lords, the Dutch and their machinations to impoverish the southernmost Kingdom in India.
The temple however is even centuries old during the time of the Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas in the B.C.Es. Too much history unable to share everything in this space, Sorry.

It is better if we leave the treasure in the temple itself, it can be used in very serious situations. India should not exploit its treasure to other countries it will only end up being looted just like how in ancient India so many treasure and artifact's have been stolen cuz they used normally for trade and other purposes. Example British Museum.

Those coastal cities have been trading with the nations of north African and the countries ringing the Mediterranean sea for thousands of years. Around Jesus's time about 120 ships per year traveled to and from India and Egypt.
Pliny the Elder wrote in 77 CE about the trade between Rome and India. Here is one example of how valuable it was for Rome, one can imagine that it was also important to Indian traders and kingdoms. In one document he writes:
""For example, just one documented consignment from Muziris (Chera kingdom, modern-day South India) to Alexandria consisted of 700-1,700 pounds of nard (an aromatic balsam), over 4,700 pounds of ivory and almost 790 pounds of textiles. This has been calculated as worth a total value of 131 talents, enough to purchase 2,400 acres of the best farmland in Egypt. When it is borne in mind that an average Roman cargo ship would have held about 150 such consignments, Pliny's figure becomes entirely plausible. With such staggering profits it is little wonder that the Roman government in Egypt encouraged - and profited by! - the trade: a 25 per cent tax on all goods from India was levied by the Romans at the Red Sea port of Leuce Come."
THAT is where all of that treasure came from.

So Kerala/Travancore was an independent Kingdom until it became of state of India in 1956. The kings have been protecting the treasure under their care for millenia. So this treasure does not belong to the whole of India rather to the Kings of Kerala, at most the people of Kerala only. That is the contention with the Indian federal government trying to get involved in a state issue. You can't really use a region/state's treasure to fund the rest of the country. It's like taking something that belongs to Texas or California and giving it to the rest of the US.

Actually it was meant of course for the "People" and not the kingdom itself during times of calamity or untoward destruction, war or mishaps. Shri Veera Marthanda Varma ensured this because of his knowledge how much the common man was oppressed under the Lords of the 8 houses and that such corruption shouldn't happen again. But distribution of such wealth if Bharat gets struck is also acceptable as we are but one nation. All the Maharajahs and Maharanis of Bharat had left the coffers for the region's people. The charity of the Travancore Royal Family is well known. Through generations they had stacked up this but was declared for the people by Shri Marthanda Varma.
A Central Govt., "a good one", would definitely use it for the people while one must hope it doesn't come into wrong hands.
By the way the laws in U.S are quite different. It is a Federal Republic (not fully democratic - no country is, India to a greater extent but others not so). Any treasure or area of high importance is termed "Region or Site of National Importance" and comes under the jurisdiction of the State and Centre. Hence comparisons cannot be made.
