People are mistaken when they focus on the treasure of the Temple. The real beauty of the Temple is the Moorti of Lord Vishnu. You cannot sleep after seeing this Moorti, when i saw it for the first time I was mesmerized, I could not sleep, I just kept going back to the Temple. The Temple is way beyond the Gold, Rubies and diamonds, it is a marvel, it is something extraordinary.

What you said is right about the richness of the temple. But I would say it's Trillion not billions. Even I'm a Christian I do visit Sri Padmanabha Swami temple sometimes since childhood. We Trivians are too much attached to the temple irrespective of which religion we're belong to.❤️
That was the brilliance of Marthanda Varma to keep all the treasures hidden to save it from Britishers else we could have seen all the treasures of Pandmanabha in British museum now.
But the B vault is having the history documents of Kerala which Travancore royal family doesn't want to disclose to the world. Nothing mysterious about it.✌️

The history is, the King of Trivancore is one among 600 Samasthan at the time of India's independence. The King calls themselves as servant of Lord Padmanabha. The Royal family belongs great Tamil mystic poet Sri Kulasekara and also King Swathi thirunaal.
They dedicated the treasury of the kingdom to the Lotus feet of Lord Padmanabha and not treated as personal property. That is why so much wealth that is available now. Secondly it was outside the vision of Islamic sultanate looters and British. That protected this wealth.
On the other hand nearly 450 Samasthans joined Indian Union. Those kings treated their samasthan treasury as their own and now nothing left out.
All of the other samasthan kings either moved outside the country to other nations to avoid taxes as also privy purses were also cancelled or gone under ground.
We have to truly appreciate the selflessness of the Truvancore Kings.

    some factual errors Praveen said:
    |There is no intertwined nagas on door. This was confirmed by the people who opened door during court ordered inspection. It has been opened long ago. The thing is you have to break the lock now as there is no unlocking key or mechanism it seems.
The worth of the jewellery and precious items are priceless as it has added value of antique and history apart from its market rate.
There are no doors and doors and doors as Praveen puts it. There's one primary entrance and then the second vault where things are kept. sometimes the first vault itself has things in it. There are 3 vaults A,B,C of which two already opened. When they were about to open the third one, one of the team member got a cut in hand and as blood spilling in temple premises are unholy, they stopped proceedings.
It's said that the B vault contains mortal remains of a Maha Rishi and thus its forbidden from opening.
Clickbait title saying its opening to Hell which is very much derogatory in nature and should be changed. Padmanabhaswamy temple is one of the 108 Vishnu temples of great importance and reverence and is not a gate to hell. Patala loka is not hell in translation.
Also there's a legend that if you force open B vault the entire Trivandrum city might get submerged by seawater which may indicate there's a secret opening to sea from this vault which was normal in ancient days to build an escape route from enemy in temple or palace.
Estimated value around ten years back was around one lakh crores for the treasures found. Most of these were offerings by Kings and devotees to lord.
teaser: The old brahmin devotee who lived near temple who filed a case to evaluate these treasures as he felt some of these are going missing died soon after vaults were opened.

I am from Trivandrum, 2 of my interpretations on this.
1 is the gold and gems found there are worth not only because of the amount of raw substance, also the archeological value. Some of the auditors(gold smiths) whom I know said, there is the currency that was there during the rule of Napolean and still the exact historic value is not precisely identified.
2nd is the B Vault. One theory states that it's a connection to the Arabian Sea which is very nearby. This is a fail-safe mechanism to destroy all within maybe a 1 km radius(like Predator movie). The technique to open the door is not known now, but if opened maybe it may allow water to rush from the sea to flood the area. There were some real incidents in the past where water suddenly came out from the gaps in the stones on the floor of the temple. Also, many hidden tunnels were discovered from the palace to the temple and elsewhere. Who knows...
But anyways, I urge all Hindus to visit the temple as it's a wonderful & divine place. Unfortunately, non-hindus are not allowed but will able to see it from the outside and visit the museums in the surroundings.

Some of these treasures were seized by the Dutch army during their occupation of the Malabar coast. After King Marthanda Varma defeated the Dutch, he donated the entire treasure to Sri Padmanabha Swamy. The significance of King Marthanda Varma's act is indeed priceless!

Kudos to the Travancore Royal Family and their foresight, for protecting this treasure from barbaric genocidal invaders who looted the rest of India, as well as from corrupt officials in their own administration - This is no mean feat over centuries. But let's all be warned - Today's looters are "wolves in sheep's clothing", like the Tamil Nadu govt which wants to control the state's temples, similarly in Kerala govt as well. Ironic, isn't it - These politicians are athiests and communists and non-Hindu, yet they're so "concerned" about Hindu temples - Corrupt b*st*rds.

Please call someone who knows more about this. Praveen Mohan is not giving you the entire picture. At least IAS officer Mr. Jayakumar who went inside the vaults. The Travancore Royal family still is very much alive and present. But they have given the right to rule to Lord Padmanabha(Vishnu). Thay are all padmanabha dasa or padmanabha sevika. All of the wealth that they have amassed were given to the ruler and stored in the vault. That is what you have in the vault. those are all big ornament pieces for the gigantic statue which is lying down. The actual idol was covered in a herbal paste and was black in colour. It was only supposed to be touched with a peacock feather. Because of it's simplicity and austerity, no mughals, british, and other conquerors were interested. but ever since it is revealed that the idol is of gold, mysteries are becoming bigger and bigger. A lot of trivandrum people believe that the idol of padmanabha is actually lying on serpent ananthan and in the ocean. Some people even claim to hear rumble of the ocean from there. It is believed that if you open the vault, sea would rush in. and the city would be lost. This city, which was untouched even in the tsunami

Priest suggested not to open it as it might contain some divine power. That's all.

When we saw this temple we didn't know that this temple is having very fantasies stories
After seeing this temple later on by searching about the past mystery of this temple, I rade on Google about the chambers that some chambers were opened by govt and got very very huge treasure there and one chamber is very dangerous and no-one can't even be able to open it because of some internal power behind that chambers gate ,some people who went there to try to open it also listened the sound of sea shore behind the gate as like vishnu is sleeping there in samudra ,and the royal family of kerala who knows about the mystery of this temple also claims that if this chambers opened ,then it will destroy everything that's why they also are silent about the opening of this last chamber
And one incident also happened with some officer who suit in court for the opening of that chamber but he was dead after some time so that is power of lord vishnu that no-one can able to open that chamber and the nag devta is protecting the chamber by standing outside that chamber ,so it is really very mysterious ,powerful and realistic fantasy temple among all temples in India which is padmanabhswami temple in kerala

Ancient vaults are designed in such a way that if any enemy who tries to open it in any other way... by destroying the vault.. Vault will also destroy.. no one will be able to take anything...

And our ancestors probably visualized this, which is why they created doors and coded messages. To decode, one needs to be free from worldly pleasures and try to connect with the energy source.

A saint called Wilwamangalam, an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna once kept some rice on one side of a coconut shell along with a pickled mango as an offering to God at Kazargode, sitting Vishnu temple of Ananthapuram. It is said that a little child snuck up and put his hands to take the rice. The sage shooed the child away. The child smiled and said, 'You prayed for me and I came, but you shooed me away. Now, I'm disappearing-come and find me at Ananthan-kaadu (forest named Anantha).' Wilwamangalam swami is said to have traveled far and wide looking for Ananthan-kaadu. Dejected and having lost hope, he came to a lonely place and asked a woman for food. He noticed that the woman was telling her child to 'behave and finish your food or she'll take the child to the lonely and frightening Anantha forest'. The overjoyed saint asked for directions and found the huge idol of the reclining Vishnuji. The rumour has it that the early kings covered their beloved diety in gold and then coated it again on the outside.
