Hey Ben!! New to the channel. I had my heary set on Z1. After watching your video, made me think twice. Does it(Theta X) work with matterport?? more like compatible??
Thanks a lot Ben. I just got my Theta X yesterday after watching your videos comparing the Z1 and X and it's been really fun so far! Super easy to use and get photos and videos ready and posted in a few minutes.
As Mr Ben sayd, affinty photo is simply a must have for removal of artifacts AND the nader. worth every penny. well, i am now for 90% sure that the X wil will be my next 360 super boy toy...
Great introduction to the Ricoh . I have just purchased the theta x , purely for virtual tours. Do I need the theta monopod to minimise editing? That’s one expensive monopod even if it’s a tax right off! I have both Affinity 2 on Mac and iPad as well as on1. I’m proficient in both workflows. Thanks in advance👍
Thanks for these nice tips! I was able to pick up an open-box Theta X for half of what they are on Amazon. In the late 1990s, I used to do the take-a-bunch-of-photos-and-stitch-them-together method. Those were the days of Apple QuicktimeVR. I eventually move on to one of those bell-shaped attachments that went over your DSLR lens and point the camera up to get the room. (I still have it, for some reason.) That was OK, but required a lot of post work to clean up the image. So having the ability to take a 360 so quickly and have something so useful right out of the camera is amazing.
Hi Ben and thanks for your review…How many plugin can store inside the X? Three as Z1? ….I think the camera that will be the successor to the Z1 will have the same features as the X with a 1 "sensor, and better plugin management
Ben, As you mentioned before, the Z1 has a better final images comparing HDRs using the plugin (Z1) and the HDR from JPGs from X. My doubt is, shoting, for example, three JPG HDR with the X (one set underexposed, normal and overexposed) and assembling the three sets with a proper HDR software, would I have a better HDR from this process than the Z1? Thanks!
Hey Ben I can not get the theta x to work with capture app from matterport. Says connected to camera. I hit button says scanning but nothing happens. You have any idea how to fix issue? Thanks
Hi! Just a question... I'm going to start a business about virtual tours, but they're going to be with a lot of outside photography. Which one do you think would be the best camera to begin with, the Theta X or the Insta One x2?? And which one would be the next step up in quality, I mean, which camera should be the next one?? Thanks from Sweden!!
Hi Ben! Been a huge fan since the Theta S days. I recently purchased the X and I use it solely for instagram Little Planet pictures. Do you have a recommended setting if all I'll edit is through Snapseed and I use a monopod (handheld and not tripod). Thanks
Hi Ben, I am looking into purchasing Theta X for real estate virtual tours. I have read some reviews that mention overheating within just a few minutes of use. Have you experienced this and if so, is there a work around to avoid overheating?
Great ! I wanted to buy the z1 for virtual itours, but you convinced me to go back to the X, (which I had already thought about), the only thing is that I hate Ligtroom, but I use Luminarai / neo. What do you think about it ?
im in your virtual tour pro and have a question or a request - a workflow for bracketed images with insta360 oneRs for areas with large areas where you cant get out of the shot. how do you edit yourself out? when i try i end up with a line where the stitch should be?
Hi Nick, not sure I fully understand the question. Are you saying you have stitching issues? Within the course there are lessons on both ‘best workflows for insta360 cameras’ as well as ‘how to edit yourself out of 360 photos’ for situations like you described.
@@BenClaremont thanks for the fast response - i take two photos one with me on each side of the lens and use photoshop to mask myself out but when i load the image there is a line in the stitch - the situation is where its a large area and im not able to get out of the photo- so i need to mask myself out with photoshop
I bought ricoh Theta X from Kyma, a professional camera shop in Vietnam. After more than 1 month of filming with theta x, there are many problems that need to be overcome by the manufacturer: 1. overheating error when shooting in 5k7 mode, only recording for about 3 minutes, more than 3 minutes is an overheat error. . The camera probably only shoots in countries with low temperatures, but it's impossible in Vietnam. 2. Battery goes down too fast, usually 1 tablet only lasts 50-60 minutes when recording in 5k7 . mode 3. Anti-vibration is not good. Using a 3m stick is terrible shaking. Compared to Insta one x2, it is much worse. 4. To shoot in auto mode, the image quality is extremely poor, very broken and noisy even when bright enough. 5. The distance between the two camera eyes is very shaky, this is not often the case with the insta camera. 6. No accessories included, no protective glasses or underwater accessories. Because there is no protective glass accessory, when it is spilled, the lens is scratched, causing video quality to be affected. There was no underwater box so I had to rent an insta one x2 to shoot live underwater, costing more to rent this equipment. That's why I noticed the weaknesses of ricoh Theta x when compared to insta one x2. After more than 1 month of use, it can be said that it fails when there are unsatisfactory videos. And I immediately sold it when finished for 200 usd. So sad to have bought it for 840 usd. With the above errors, I hope the company will immediately overcome the above disadvantages, so that later users can have more perfect products, especially in tropical countries with hot climates.
Hey Ben!! New to the channel. I had my heary set on Z1. After watching your video, made me think twice. Does it(Theta X) work with matterport?? more like compatible??
Hi Ben, I just bought a new Theta X, wanted download the Time Shift Plug In. Suprisingly this one is not available for Theta X?! Im very disapointed because of that. Do you know something more about that? Another thing, you were mentioning that with mid class software like Kuula is possible to publish virtual tours to Google street view. I didnt find the way how to do it.
I got a Ricoh Theta X about a week ago. I have all the settings turned up to max. I discovered that the Theta X has some limitations at this and other settings, particularly in video mode. Perhaps the Theta X is under the same video size/time restriction as other compact cameras, that is, in order to be considered as a camera, instead of as a video camera, and so avoid import tariffs, video file size is limited to 4 GB and 29 minutes, 59 seconds in recording length. 4 GB in 5.7K video doesn't go very far! I get up to exactly five minutes of video before the Theta X stops recording... though, that's actually only 2.25 GiB, or only half the tariff limit. Maybe the limit is due to the camera's operating system? In any event, 5.7K video is limited exactly at five minutes. That's just as well, because after about six minutes of use outdoors, my Theta X shuts down due to overheating. In fact, I have a question for @Ben Claremont: Do you shoot all your video tours in under five minutes? Another limitation is battery drain. Shooting 5.7K video for five minutes drains about 20% of the battery life. It turns out that the Ricoh Theta X uses the same batteries as the Olympus TOUGH TG-5/6, and as I have all three cameras, I have lots of these batteries. I am considering buying a USB power pack, though. Another observation I made is that when the camera has WiFi enabled, it will not shoot 5.7K video. Instead, it pops up a message that states, "You cannot start shooting video because the wireless LAN is on." Inside the Video Size setting is a note: "With the following settings, shooting and playback may not be possible with the smartphone app." 4K at 30 fps and 2K settings do not have this limitation. I bought the Theta X to shoot still photos, but if I find a market for video, I'll be happy to shoot that, too. I need to figure out work-arounds to the camera's limitations, though.
I've noticed that when my Ricoh Theta X shuts down for thermal overload, I often can bring it back to life for a few shots if I swap out the battery with a fresh, cool battery. I've also found that even if the camera isn't too hot, it will shut down if the battery is. This makes me suspect that the X might be relying on the battery's thermal management for its own thermal management. I suspect that the high power drain on the battery is triggering the thermal overload warning, perhaps coming from the battery, itself.
Hi Ben, Love your videos. How did you get such straight verticals at ruclips.net/video/j22ksEys49M/видео.html? Did you use any software to straighten them or is it straight out of the camera. Also, how would you rate the Theta X against Trisio Lite 2? Thanks in advance.

The biggest issue of Ricoh Theta X is adding a nadir logo workflow compared to insta 360. Especially when you have got 400+ of them. I reckon to do 2 photos, hdri and non, hdri like to be soft and RGB separated quite often, better to be safe than sorry later. Ben you should make your own discord server

Yeah it will overheat especially when recording videos

Hi Ben, sorry for this random question. What effect will the End of Support for the Editing App “THETA+ have on owning a Ricoh camera?
Not much, as there are plenty of tiny planet mobile apps, and desktop software for reframing 👍🏻

Yes

Hi Maria, I never said you can use Kuula for street view. GoThru is the best option for that. And yes time shift should be available for Theta X.
Which 360 camera would you say is better, theta x or insta360 rs 1 inch sensor?
Both are pretty similar, 1-inch has the advantage of also capturing great 360 video.
Iam willing to establish my own virtual tours & 360 shooting Buisness, so please do you recommend the ricoh x camera & the 3dvista software?
