    Amigo, mucho appreciation for your vids. Been apprenticeing under a general contractor for 2 years, learning a wide swath of stuff. Light bulb turned on last week, decided I like doing tile, it appeals to my brain more than any of the other work and I think I could get good at it. "Why don't I go into this for myself, like our plumber?" Been watching your stuff since then. Dig it. Thanks.

    Tom, help! I'm turning 41 next month, been a building contractor for 2 years, I'm not a people person and figured out I don't like dealing with clients (bad experience with 2nd big build) I want to build/sell 5 or 6 specs a year but I now have 2 kids in college, my credits maxed and im killing myself 6-7 days a week. How do I get funding to get off this small job, month to month merry-go-round?

    If I am a GC building luxury homes, should I also be charging 50%? So if I build a $2M home (no profit factored in), I should charge $4M to the client?

    • @nickhodgen
      @nickhodgen 3 года назад

      50% factored into 2m should come to 3m, I believe.

      Nick Hodge lol. He’s the contractor that the host talks about bankrupt. Basic fucking math. No excuse

    • @RCRidgecrestQuality
      @RCRidgecrestQuality 3 года назад +1

      @@CloneDanMan I am referring to margin, not markup. The host also talks about margin by saying take your job cost, double it, and charge that number. I'd read a little more before saying what you just said...

    • @RCRidgecrestQuality
      @RCRidgecrestQuality 3 года назад +1

      @@nickhodgen I am referring to margin. A 50% margin on a $2M project would cost the client $4M. A 100% markup on a $2M job would be $4M for the client. You would be correct if I was talking about markup but I am not. The host talks about margin.

    • @CloneDanMan
      @CloneDanMan 3 года назад +1

      RC_Ridgecrest I wasn’t talking about you. I commented to nick who has his math wrong. If it costs 2 million dollars and you want to margin to be 50 percent it is 4 million. He said 3. He was wrong
