Thanks for putting this out, hopefully they update the design in the future. For the rest of us suck with this style, this is a great corrective process we can use. I called Daniel carpenter, and they are getting these from a vendor in China so they aren’t actually making them themselves.
When I called Carpenter LMR didn’t have the second batch of windows in yet(3-4 months ago) I spoke with a very nice lady over at Carpenter who said the manufacturer in China was aware of the blemish problem from the first batch they made. They said they were trying to correct it but they already had a large order in process for shipment and they would be discounting those(the ones we got). I haven’t spoken to Carpenter about the stud issue but I would assume knowledge of the issue has made it back to them. Hopefully they are working on a fix?
Damn Chris i thought the last time you had fixed them, yes it sucks but you seemed to find a fix for them. It's always good to let them know what they are selling and defective they are, glad you found the right solution.
Good video, I have a set of quarters I just bought from LMR for my black-on-black coupe my quarter windows are still in very good shape I may just leave the OE ones in like you, I would rather have OE than aftermarket! If you need a set I would sell you these if you need one, thanks for the good info on your video.
You actually had the same idea as me, i had the same issue with my windows and repaired with window weld. Was thinking of making a video of the repair of these but i dont think i need to now. How is this repair holding up today?
Mannnn what a PTA… They should cost half the price you paid for them considering the amount of time invested in repairing them. With that said… You did a great job and thank you finding a legitimate fix for that issue.
Got a set from Matt at FMR and they are top quality!!! Great info Chris and thanks for sharing. Think I’m going to restore an old set I have for now till these get figured out.
Yeah….. I “preordered” a set of non-blem Daniel Carpenter quarters from Classic Design Industries back in 2020 and still haven’t heard anything. Makes me concerned for the quality of what I spent $700 and waited 2 years for. I also bought a console armrest delete from LMR and Scott Drake and one of the tabs popped off when I installed it, that was only $27 but I was mad about that….
I had the same issue with my blem windows. I called LMR and they were very quick to ship me a replacement set even though the site said "out of stock". I sent the bad windows back to them to review.
@@TheInfamousProject The new windows were fine. I originally bought two sets, but only one set was bad. They told me that "they kept a few in the back in case there was an issue"... I spoke with Neal Jimenez (Tech & Customer Experience Associate), he was very quick to help me out.
I just picked up a set of these from National Parts Depot. I paid $679 (free shipping) and they were delivered promptly on 12/30/22. Same issue with voids as shown in this video and the same studs were beyond unacceptable on each. I'll take care of it and make the windows work but I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with DC's "QC Acceptance Program." The glass is good but the structural portion of the rubber that captures the studs needs to be addressed. So be wary, as the set I got is supposed to be from the latest run. My kit included sandpaper and two tubes of silicone too.
Dang, now it makes sense why the coupe sold for 500 asap. Those windows had no dry rot from being up north and out of light. Rest of car….Swiss cheese ain’t got enough holes to compete.
We had the exact same problem and used 3m panel bond to secure the studs . Not happy at all for the price these should have been $300 for the amount of work we had to put in them and took them off and on like you multiple times
I know this is off the subject, but what hood is that on the Cali Coupe? I would like a nice low cowl hood like that for my '91, but can't seem to find one. Thanks.
Daniel carpetnder stuff is crap, i got some DC tailights lenses for my 87 lx. 18 months later the red lens was fading. now look like faded pink. so i orderd DEPO complet tailights, and i know they will last i have DEPO on my85 ranger and after 14 years still look new. great vid!
I also bought a set. Pure junk, studs pulled right out same way. Right now I used 3M panel bond to glue the studs back in, maybe working. Disappointed for sure.
I have a set of the blems in my coupe and it seems like one or two of the studs are popping. LMR just came out with a video showing the "install" of these windows saying the issue is resolved by using RTV instead of butyl tape. What a bunch of BS!!! The price we paid for these damn things you should not have to do a "workaround" or an alternate type of install from factory. It feels like they are almost saying the windows are fine, it is our install process that is wrong. I would not put these in with RTV as it will be hell to remove them if need be.
@@TheInfamousProject i replaced the pressure switch you think it maybe faulty still being its new? What else could it be...how would it bypass? Thank you for your time.
And this is why they sold them as no return blems, Scott drake hatch glass had the same issues when they first came to market, China quality is hit or miss on repo stuff and most aint worth the mark ups dealers slap on cheap China parts.
Honest dude here think God there people like this that let's people know before we buy stuff for our fox's what to expect cool video 🙏💯 plus I would see if there's a torque spec on the quarter window bolts from company or service manual but if you replace them as many time as this dude you'll know what you can tighten them down to make sure theres a even clamping load on the window and the window frame doesn't need to be body worked to match the radius of the window 😉
Thanks for the heads-up, my notch is due for quarter windows. 💯🔥💪🏾

Well that explains some of it. But why are they "BLEMS" in this case?

Ha!!
Another great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sorry to hear they have issues, I had sent two sets to fox resto, before they stopped refurbishing them. All new rubber no issues.

Bought a relatively decent set of Blems for a friend at Carlisle....we went through 9 sets to grab the best we could and got a deal at $500
Dang, mine are still in the box, I should go check mine now.

So do you think I should apply that adhesive first before I put the glasses on because I haven't put them on
Thanks a ton for the info

Schoneck Composites makes a good set of quarter classes. They're spendy but they look nice and they're American made!

Depo brand has been a pita to find for most foxbody stuff for a few years now.
When is the Cali Coupe up for sale?
Lol... When someone convinced me to sell it

LMAO.. Yes I am aware of this so called "fix" I was beside myself when I found out that this was the solution.
What would cause me a/c compressor to run constantly when running my a/c instead of cycling off and on?
Faulty pressure switch or bypassed

I will hesitate from buying from LMR if they are not liable for their stuff,
Im very sorry for this mess
Curious did you reach out to Daniel Carpenter? Wonder what their explanation is.
Check the comments, apparently they are made in China lol
Really wish someone could just refurbish my original 1/4 windows instead of buying China made junk
How bad are they? Check my refurb videos
