I hadn't ever seen how people redo the quarter windows. The putty looks like it worked great. Big improvement..The rubber getting thin and wavy is a big issue in those cars but they still look very good when you got done with them.
Thanks bro! They will do for now I guess, but new ones will be installed after I get some other big projects done to the car. It’s going to be all about timing on this project. That way I’m not redoing things over. Some exciting stuff coming!!
I refinished My 1/4 windows with a green finishing glaze that was designed to repair urethane bumpers on GM products it took Me some time to do but I think it was well worth it they came out looking like new after I painted them with SEM black trim paint . Good content Thank You . Best Wishes 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
Another good video & remedy to those body styles! I have often wondered if FLEX SEAL will work!?!?! You know prep similar to what you did… then apply flex seal! Or at least test in an inconspicuous areas! Or on another similar piece of worn rubber! Thanks anyway for the idea(s)!🤔👌🤘🏼🙏🏽👋🏻
@@selectyourtools Absolutely. I sandblasted my aluminum wheels with 00. didnt know better. Very badly pitted. I could not believe the results after I tried the 2 in 1. Perfect. Thanks for the vid

i shoulda done this i bought the plastic covers that you glue on ...dont look too bad now but had to reattach them like 5 or 6 time ..one time it almost flew off going down the road (embarrassing) and finnaly put one screw each side on the end and more glue..never again!!!
Dang! I was wondering about the covers. I looked at them. That would’ve sucked if that one flew off going down the road! I’m not sure how long these will hold up, but hopefully for a little while. Thanks man!
I didn’t even know they had that option….. i accidentally got a black trash bag on one trying to tint windows!?!?! The hot weather made some stick to the rubber…. Actually filled in nicely to a bit of it! Hard to explain & describe…. but it blended in! (May be a remedy if it can be done under control with a heated dryer!?) Ikr! Nothings perfect!🙄😤😂
That would be aggravating repair. If I was going to attempt it. I would consider removing them, taping off the glass, sand the painted surfaces where they are as smooth as you can get without sanding to much. I wouldn’t want any shiny paint. I think would fill any imperfections and the prime them with epoxy primer and spray a SIMs trim black. That’s the best way I would know how. I would say if they painted them when on the car, you could get paint chips when removing. Paint attends to bridge from car to the rubber in areas. According on what your trying to accomplish, but it would be tempting to by the LMR aftermarket ones and replace them.
I would tape off your windows to protect the body paint, then I would attempt to try sanding them. I’m not sure if you are saying they are painted with car paint or trim paint? Car paint is so hard, it would probably start chipping and flaking off. Outside of sanding them and trying to fill the cracks with flexible putty, I’m not sure. Probably just going to be a lot of elbow grease and trying to clean them up. Best of luck! Thanks!!
Awesome looking fix for a common deal on these cars!
Thanks man! Can’t wait to see your stang back on the road!!
Looks good! Mine are probably beyond any repair. I’ve seen the covers they make.. anyone have any luck with them?
@@DjDestinyChicago thanks man!

That’s great man! Glad you got yours looking good. Thanks for sharing the info!
Nice job, looks good. Difficult to make perfect when the glass is still on the car
Thanks man…I agree! The rubber is about to thin and damaged to make it much better. Hopefully it will do for awhile.

Same preparation but 2 in 1 spray primer filler will give a nice low build in a quicker and easier finishing.
Thanks for the info man! That’s how we get better.

Which spray primer/filler did you use ? And which black over the top?

How would you redo quarter windows that have been painted over?🦊
