Just finished video one and cant tell you how much this is helping me. I live in Austin TX and play 1/2 NLH with a $300 buy in. Every orbit they play a bomb pot which is a double board PLO game. Anytime I buy into a game I plan on having 3 bullets on me - so with a max 700 buy in I'd suggest bringing 2100 to play. As far as an operating bankroll, you should want or have 15-20 buy ins total. The number one thing that causes poker players to go broke is poor bankroll management.
Hey prof, thanks for the great vids. Isn't the shorthand equity calculation at 20: 39 assuming that you're all in and will see both the turn and the river? For a pure flush draw I thought it would be nine outs for 45 unseen cards. 1:5 ratio. So shouldn't the pot should be laying us 5:1 or greater for a correct call? Instead of 4:1 if there is a bet and one call.
Yes, it factors in seeing the turn and the river; the reason why I don’t separate it here is because you can’t assume there will be any bets on the turn, but yes, it does assume you’ll see both turn and river! Ty for the comment and ty for watching!
Hey, nice video. I noticed that when calculating equity, you count all of the outs but without really knowing if some of those are dead. For example, if i have a flush draw, i have 36% equity on flop when all outs are in the deck, but what happens if there is only 7? In that case, i will not have the 33% equity to make a full pot call. Do you think is important to take into consideration dead cards?
I do factor that in; so using your example of the board is K92 with two hearts and we read our opponent on a set of kings that does eliminate one of our outs…. At that point start using equity in the pot plus implied equity (keep an eye on your opponents chip stack!).
I play 1-2-5 min 300 buy in no max buy in. Others buy in for 5-8 typically. Outliers will buy in up to 4K depending on stacks on table. I’m a month into PLO. Any exploitative advice here?
Since your new most people are going to be trying to exploit you. Three buy ins just isn't enough many times. I don't care how good your pre-flop equity is, when it's 6 ways to the flop there is going to be a ton of variance.
I generally bring more than 3 buy ins, but after the 3rd I have to start questioning am I playing good or just variance getting me? Usually after 3 all ins I’ll find myself even but with the equivalent to those 3 bullets in front of me.

Always appreciate others input. Keep in mind, this is one of the first videos to help people transition over from NLHE.
