    I just played my first PLO tourney a few weeks ago and finished second. It was sooo much easier than cash games. And I've noticed that the hardcore cash players (those that play almost every day) don't play the tourneys and vice-versa.

    Still have lots to learn about this game. Jumped into a PLO tournament with a buy-in much higher than I usually play.
    Only a few players remaining, three away from the money. Main reason I decided to play.
    Started with 20BB doubled up few hands in only to get back to 20BB. Long story short, managed to luckbox my way to top three. ( Only paid top three ).
    One player was very aggressive and I kept limp check folding to him when he continuation bet the flop. 😆 😔 Ended up busting third to this player.
    I’m sure I made some mistakes three handed. Then again I’m a beginner to this game and don’t have much experience playing short handed. Hope to improve through studying and playing more. Even considering buying an online plo course ( might be helpful ) and watching more of your videos of course.

      @@ploprofessor so no cash in my tourney but.. I was table chip leader for 3/4 hrs I played. Built my stack up to 80k from initial starting stack of 20k, got it all in with top set against a naked flush draw and he got there (surprise surprise). Aside from a few misclicks I think I played well and had a lot of fun. My first PLO tourney, but, definitely not my last! 4 cards way more fun than 2! Thx for your videos!

    like the range theory except bigO narrow range some middle rundowns are worthless along with mid pairs mixed in em equity is halved.

    Hello Professor, great video as always. By chance will you be getting to heads up play? I ran into a situation where the table ran down (cash game) to me and one other person and I don’t feel like I played well. Any advice appreciated as always. Thanks for the content!

    • @ploprofessor
      @ploprofessor  2 года назад +1

      Heads up play doesn’t come into play that often…. But I myself was at MGM for about 2 or 3 hours after a game broke and played heads up for those 2-3 hours… you should open your range on your opponent… but the biggest edge in heads up for Omaha is reading your opponent

    Never understood why anyone wouldn't want to be there as soon as level 1 begins. Generally it's very easy to make money from stations and people who're prone to overplaying their premium starting hands. The people who come late are often more interested in the cash games. So will be more prone to getting it all in with a marginal hand in the hope of getting a quick double up.

    • @ploprofessor
      @ploprofessor  Год назад

      Getting there at level 1 - it amazes me how many times I’ve doubled up in plo tournament at lvl 1.
      But yeah late reg is typically cash players who don’t mind getting a buy in right away to try running it up!

      I agree, I hate missing even one hand. Even if you don't make a lot early on, you observe and see how others are playing.

    It seems like the best players are able to keep their foot on the gas all the way through a tournament, stealing a lot of small pots.
    The more shallow the stacks the more lost I am. I basically wait to reshove AA, which doesn’t seem like a winning strat. 🤷‍♂️

    • @ploprofessor
      @ploprofessor  2 года назад +1

      Position helps pick up a lot of pots…. But part of it is being willing to be in a lot of pots early! Ty for watching!

    • @Joe-Bourbon
      @Joe-Bourbon 2 года назад

      Yeah, maybe my mistake is letting myself dwindle and getting into a spot where I need to reshove AA. It’s one thing to lose a flip and get in that position, a whole another to take my foot off the gas.
      Thanks for the content and feedback.

    The hand with the female pros seems to be a sort of cooler from my Point of view. If you were in her opponents shoes… what would you have done differently if you had 89xx against her?

    • @ploprofessor
      @ploprofessor  2 года назад +2

      When she calls the turn my spidey senses would go off. It did when I was sitting next to her. The biggest bet you can make is on the river and I could see making a blue bet on the river with 89, but when she check pots it…. On level 1- I’m folding 89 there (I honestly thought she had QQ)….

      @@ploprofessor professor my heart broke the other night. Poker Stars had a promo, put $50 in your account and get in a free roll: 50 players win a $300 seat in the $300k Championship. I played my heart out, making a big lay down when a guy checkraised me. Getting short with the blinds going way up I got JJ the. Next hand in the big blind. I jammed and called called by 2 limpers: A8 off and 77. He flopped a 7. I was one card away from a $300 seat in the $300k USCOOP Championship. Brutal. But with help from your videos I won 2 PLO tournaments in the last 2 days. Oh well. Life goes on. At least I have action, like Nick The Greek said at the end of his life playing $5/$10, after Jonny Moss broke him in Vegas.

    Totally disagree on blindly playing 99% of hands in early levels. I would at least take position into account as well as if people are raising before me.

    • @ploprofessor
      @ploprofessor  7 месяцев назад

      Always appreciate comments even ones that disagree with me - but correct me if I’m wrong but you’ve played 1 plo tournament (basing this off of your previous comment)…..
      Many different ways to play to play plo - playing all the hands or 99% during first 3 levels is imho the best way to have the greatest chance of making a final table and shipping one. Ty for the comment and ty for watching!
