Wowza, catch fish or not, you definitely caught this fisherman!!! Great colors and great content!! Thank you Michael for all you do for the bait making community!!
New subscriber here first video, absolutely love the video animations, enthusiasm, baits ect. Learning what I can to hopefully start making my own. And that shimmergill is killer!
1st gen makes a ton of great stuff. I do some tying in the jaw droppers for a buddy of mine for the Potomac River. Seems to like them . Even modeled one to be a bladed jig. Crazy action, he's had success on. And he hates "chatter" "bladed" baits/jigs
I don't do any tying at the moment. I need to watch some of Adam's beginner videos and see if I could get the hang of it. It doesn't look too terribly complicated. I just have my head wrapped around soft plastic colors at the moment.
Great vid brother. Love your color shifts in your soft plastics. I’m a bait maker myself. Adam over at SDG and SmallJaw inspired me to start about 3 years ago. Wondering do you sell your soft plastics?
Good stuff my friend! Since I make my own I hadn’t heard of the Copperhead - love the innovation! The airbrushing on the head was killer too. 🤌 New pigments are lookin’ dope!!
they look nice! Idk about more sound in clearer waters but its def worth a try. I also agree about the patten thing... gotta be prepared to get better and evolve. Berkley doesn't have a patten on their scent! you also have to disclose everything so that no can copy the exact way you are doing it. Thats why they didn't do a patten
100% agree on your patent take, I recently made a video on the same subject and how they even extended the patent that was about to expire. They don't really have a choice of who they go after though, they have to go after EVERYONE or they will lose the patent. Off to order some copperheads!
It's funny Zman keeps trying to patent this thing, while they turn around and rip-off the Dark Sleeper and every other bait that comes along. I order my Jackhammers from Japan. It's cheaper because they don't have to pay the Zman tax. Its just difficult finding a supplier that'll ship to North America. I have zero qualms about ripping off Zman and refuse to buy any of their products.
Great job on the color match for the first gen baits. Love the copper head, don't care about the copper beads, just love the searching action. Nice job on the video. Keep up the good work. Congrats on the 4 K.
As always awesome video man I love seeing your stuff. Yeah their reaction to that is why I won't buy any z-man product again.any of their stuff that I had I sold or got rid of
I cant wait to get some Pixie dust. And I'm about to pull up Star Wars ,A new hope. I just saw it in your background. Love the old ones. I was 8 years old when A New Hope came out. And that was EPIC
I get it on Amazon. If you look in the video description, I have a link to my amazon affiliate store that has all of the equipment that I use in my shop. The silicone spoon mat is in there.
Hey Dawgo. I loved and continue to watch your old channel. Are you not doing that niche of content anymore? Med mentioned in his live this is where u were now so I came on over to this channel
@@baitchuckin ahh man. I'm literally re watching the shed build out videos at this very moment right now trying to get some ideas you have many great ones. I hope your doing well and staying safe my friend
I know for a fact on a retrieve that copper head is not hitting anywhere close to those bb’s. The reason Z-man has the patent is bc it hits the head on retrieve and it you look at the copperhead it wouldn’t be close to doing that on a retrieve, maybe sometimes but any chatterbait that isn’t straight head I’ve tried and it’s not better at all. IMO I’d rather have a chatterbait that runs straight rather than hunt. You gotta think a lot of fish that hit these baits are reaction strikes. Z Man shouldn’t worry about these at all.
@@baitchuckin That’s fair I will say the copperhead seems like it would be great in muddy or heavily stained water. I did see some reviews saying the copperhead rises extremely fast and that’s the problem I have with the vibrating jigs that have the split ring and no direct connection to the head, it won’t stay down and rises upwards.
@@baitchuckin Ill definitely give it a try. I'm also debating how I'm gonna epoxy copper beads onto a Jackhammer head. Need to find some spilt brass beads.
Can’t rest on your past if you want to move forward, patents are good because other companies can innovate new ways of doing things to get around the patent and sometimes for the better.
The problem with the Copper Head is no direct connection of the blade to the head. Many anglers prefer direct connection. Many anglers fish bladed jigs in grass and I see grass getting caught on the split ring connecting the jig head and blade.
Are you familiar with the YUM Wooly plastics line? Ive been looking for a baitmaker to replicate a 2 or 2.5" curly tail jig in blk/chartreuse! Ive talked to YuM and they wont sell me the mold and they dont plan on bringing this line back! Which is gd stupid but whatever! Let me know what you think about a few of these jigs! Thanks, Fish On.
No I am not familiar with the YUM Wooly lineup. Was there a bait in particular you liked? I might be able to recognize a bait mold that is similar for you.
Normally the bladed jigs with the split ring connector have a slow start up speed. Plus need to be reeled at a faster pace to keep it vibrating. How is that one, be honest
It has a large blade and definitely needs a good reel to start vibrating, however once it’s going you can slow it way down. You can’t creep it but you can go decently slow with it. 👍🏼 it’s definitely worth trying one out. Great for stained water. It’s LOUD. They nailed that part.
If that’s the case then they need to leave everyone else alone about their patents if they stole someone else’s patent. Unless the owner of the patent allowed them to use it.
Yeah I think a lot of the US companies are seeing the prices that the JDM companies are charging and inflating their own products. What's really fishy is that all of them started raising prices on the same baits at the same times.
I hate zman products, I will buy anybody else’s lure, as long as they don’t have to pay zman a penny. Won’t buy from companies that have a license agreement with zman also. Due to zman big head approach to their patent. They can keep their junk. Now 1 gen I will purchase their product, let’s just be honest their product just rocks, looking at it.
The copperhead is good. But as I've mentioned in several replies, I use both the copperhead and the Jackhammer. I don't hate Z-Man personally, but I also don't agree with some of their business tactics.
I wouldn’t call the copperhead garbage by any means that’s just my opinion. 🤷🏻♂️ I still use the Jackhammer, I switch back and forth depending on the situation.
Here is an idea...... Try to be innovative and create new and exciting things instead of spending your time trying to work around the patents that someone else holds so you can copy their invention.
It's not about copying, it's about innovation. Trying to take an idea and innovate on it to make it better. There is also supply and demand to take into account. I don't agree with copying someone invention, but if you can take an idea, and push it forward to make something better then I'm all for it. It's ultimately a win for consumers, but if it's not any better, then yeah, it's just a knock-off that does a similar thing in a worse way. In response to your original comment though... can you imagine living a world where you can only purchase one type of car from only one brand, because nobody was allowed to innovate on Henry Ford's combustible engine?
Oh I wasn’t saying it was good by any means, just saying it took over the market there for a minute. I use both the Jackhammer and Copperhead depending on the day / situation.
Great video! You do an awesome job with production and your pours are fire. Keep it up!!!
Thanks Nick!! I appreciate the support and the opportunity to work together on the video! Can’t wait for more!! 🙌🏼

I love the epic blue/purple color shift
you sold me on the shimmer gill im going to be order some copper heads soon.. love the trailer wish it was availble
I think you can order some Darter Trailers from Last Swim Customs.
You definitely nailed those color matches and made it difficult to just pick 1...Shimer Gill would probably be the 1 I pick first!

Those look amazing! I am curious what the look like in the water. I would like to see the tail action. Great color matching!
I have a whole video on the darter trailer if you want to check it out. Lots of slow motion action footage in that video.
Where did you get that mat you use for your knives you stir your plastic with? I like that a lot.
