I love the fact that you don’t have music throughout the whole video. I feel like it sets you apart from a lot of other cooking/gardening/homesteading Content. And I love that you’re just throwing something together and inspiring us to do the same thing.
I'm fascinated by your knowledge of cooking. I would never even think of putting all those things together but it looks delicious & you make it look so easy!
I was amazed by this video because there I was preparing my husband and I some lunch left over from yesterday and adding to it which was a mish mash of tuna, chickpeas, olives, peppers, cucumber and homegrown dill and coriander drenched in olive oil and and lemon with rye sour dough bread and get to the part of thr video where you're making a very similar salad. How coincidental! 😅
Love your videos and the way you edit. It’s so inspiring how you cook. I hope to one day I have the same knowledge and creativity when im in the kitchen!
Thank you for sharing the reality of the harvest. We do our best but compost the rest. I can beat myself up for not being a good gardener but if even Shaye Elliot has some loss I might be ok. 😉
Thrive Market has some very nice offerings, but unless you want to pay a $60 annual fee and keep an eye on your emails, bc anything you order, they send you the next month unless you keep track. Sorry, I don’t have that kind of time! I was looking for an online market to get items not normally found in a grocery store or traveling an hour.
Love this. I did notice that you didn't really use much from your last year's harvest in your pantry. It did break my heart to see you chop up that lovely bread, but it did look great in the salad. Thank you for your inspirations.
OMG the Ppotato mess I have to go through this week before next month's harvest. HINT: Don't keep your storage Potatoes in those black plastic milk crates. When the sprout vines get 3 feet long, they wind and weave all through the holes in the crates and make a tangled mess. Then they bind the stacks of crates together in an impossible to unravel Gordian Potato Knot.
The thumbnail of this video reads "Out With The OLD , In With The NEW." in your email with the picture of your husband , I'm presuming. I thought you were making a drastic change. in your life Good to see you clarified by adding the word "FOOD"
I need this recipe right now! I'm keeping the Sabbatical year, so nothing planted in the garden, but I can eat 'what grows of itself.' I spied some volunteer basil in the yard, and have perpetual green onions. Everything else will come from the pantry. (I don't really care for parsley so I won't miss that, but might find some dandelion greens or dock (LOL 'weeds'). Thank you Shae 🙂
I had a good laugh watching your husband pull the sprouted potaotes. I have yet to do the same, mine are worse though.😮 Thank you for the reminder! That salad looks delish, will have to try. Love watching your channel! I've tried many of your dishes and ferments, which have been a success. 🎉
Omg, Shaye! This looks fantastic. I have to make this. I think I actually have all of this on hand. Just picked up garlic scapes at our Farmer's Market this weekend.
Another wonderful episode! It’s such a great feeling to clean out your pantry, ice box, etc.. start fresh for spring and I’m inspired by your pantry salad and toasty bread cubes. I’m thinking a salad tonight with radish, olives, cucumber and tomatoes, basil and corn from right here in Florida…. And grill a steak! Happy Spring everyone🦋
Curious…where do you get “good” canned tuna? Without mercury issue? Used to be my favorite fish…tuna sandwiches were great! Haven’t eaten in decades. Bread chunks aka croutons!
What brand of anchovies? I bought anchovies in oil from Italy and when I got it, it was canola oil. I was so disappointed- is the brand you use packed in olive oil?
What kind of salt do you use please? I use Celtic sea salt which is very expensive where I live here in Newfoundland and Labrador and I cad get Redmonds real salt a little bit cheaper. Is this as healthy as Celtic sea salt?
Interesting video with different perspectives. It is great to grow an abundance isn't it? When I have food getting older in the pantry, I try and process through it faster, and even feed to the horses or chickens or if still good, share with others. I just do not like spoilage and wast, old world teaching I guess. As for Thrive... I might have to look at it again but the last few times... it and azure standard are just too expensive for us. Peace, Walter
Enjoy following your homestead site. I am a former Thrive Market customer until I did a little research and discovered they support groups and ideas that my Christian values do not. I was very disappointed. Happy Summer enjoy......
Not judging but there wasn't a label for your beautiful tuna. I'm only being observant because I would love to know a brand that is wholesome and trusted.
And the concept of oil packed used to be a good thing. But due to adulteration of olive and avocado oils, it’s better to have anything packed in water. Is that your understanding, too?
@@carolyncarlon9870 I'm looking at contamination such as mercury. Mercury is reported to be high in tuna. I love the flavor of tuna and didn't know there was a brand that was beautiful. I would LOVE to know what that brand is.
It’s sad so many veggies were thrown away when you have a freeze drier to preserve them…..waste not want not in our house but you have so much growing,,,,,can’t you give away what you won’t use? Just askin.
Once they have sprouted like that, much of the nutrition has been consumed, and the veges are soft, and often, there is bacterial growth. Not at all suitable for canning safely. Turning them back into rich soil for the garden is best, if one does not keep pigs.
@@paularunyan8588 I can potatoes and carrots evert year. I love her channel and everything she does. I have been following her for a long time. I was just wondering. Thanks for the reply.
Your kitchen/ cellar/cold room is a thing many homesteaders dream of having! Simply perfect
Thanks for sharing!

This is your version of panzanella. Italian bread salad. It also works well with stale bread and all kinds of veggies. 😊

What is a sabbatical year, if you don't mind my asking?
Nicely done! A few good thoughts on things to throw into a salad. I had no idea that anchovies "dissolved" Thanks for noting that.
I have not had a salad like that before. Id like to try it. Do your kids eat it. There are some pretty adult tastes in there. Beautiful!
I hope you had a wonderful Fathers Day Stu ❤.
Beautiful Salad Shaye 🌞!

I use the Redmonds for everything! It's just as "healthy" with the mineral content.
I really don't like anchovies. I would probably take them off and add Greek feta.
Other than that, it looks delicious.
Please stop the music. It’s very distracting. I’m sorry. The salad looked lovely.

Why not can those potatoes and carrots rather than throw them out?

They could have been canned before they sprouted. Same
with the carrots
