I have both, the main differences are... S23 has better screen, better sound, better battery, better stand by time, performance profile ( standard and light ) and better thermals. The s23 takes moon pics at 30x zoom too. S22 seems to have slightly smaller bezels and a different camera bump. I do not regret getting the s23 at all.

On the other hand S23 ultra which also I have giving 8 to 9 hours of SOT. In fact I am using both phone in protect battery mode means charging capped at 85% , still full day battery life. Amazing.

I moved from a note 20 to the S22. Was not going to bother getting the s23 because in reality day to day use there is no real difference. Yes when comparing s22 to s23 then its logical to expect an improvement. It is after all a newer device and should be an improvement over the older model. I am loving my s22 it works perfectly.
Most of the people complaining are so addicted to their phones that they think charging a phone for like 30 minutes during a day is a hassle now when most of them would have 2 phones.
Well, On my s22, I use Dark Mode and prefer my brightness at about 50% and I get through my days. This includes using it all day for work calls and GPS as I am seeing Hospice patients all day. Yes, the extra battery life would be great, but I have gotten up to 5 hours of screen on time on my s22 with my settings. No problem ever getting 3 hours SOT. I still prefer my old Pixel to Samsung and once my contract is up as I got s22 and a Galaxy 4 watch for free, I am probably getting the Pixel 7A. Pictures are better on my old Pixel 3 than the Samsungs.
I'm not using 5g so I turned it off. It sucks where I live and burns battery. I deleted bloat Verizon apps and I get 6.5 sot with 25 percent left. No games. It's crazy what others are getting. I'd return mine if it was that bad.
My pixel 4xl takes better pics indeed. Samsung has over sharpening and though I prefer the video on the Samsung s22 the pro 48mp doesn't come close to the one plus 7t mode with detail.

Fair enough, I understand that price increase. Is it possible to find used or refurbished phones where you are? Ideally I'd recommend the S23 as the S22 is really a flawed chipset. It's not just battery, but heat as well. That makes the S22 uncomfortable to use. Best of luck.
