I do not need them to throw around money as virtue signaling. I just want them to make intelligent, well thought out player acquisitions that moves the Red Sox into contention for the division and be set up for years to come. If they can do that and stay within the CBT, all the better.
I was pretty happy hearing Kennedy mentioning very specific goals, like winning 90 - 95 games and winning one World Series in the next four years and I feel a glimmer of hope different from the past few years. Hope I wish is not unfounded. My Spidey senses were unraveled ever since 2020 when they allowed Ryan Weber to be the number 3 starter when the season opened. They’ve done little to show any urgency since, so hopefully, a brighter future is ahead.
Man after all these years of painful mediocrity I really this is the year they actually put their money where their mouth is. I know I shouldn't allow myself to be this excited about the offseason, but I am. I really think they made a great pitch to Soto and are really going for him, and I think Papi is going to be instrumental in getting him to sign here. Then get Teoscar, trade for Crochet, sign Fried, and possibly Burnes (if they can afford it). Man I have high hopes, and I know I shouldn't. I think last year they may have said "full throttle" strategically knowing they could later put that into any context they want, but with these words he's using now there is no way to escape the heat he will get if they don't follow through, or at least prove that they really did try because no matter what you throw at a guy there is no promise he signs with you, but as long as they truly are making the effort I will be happy with that regardless of the results.
I’ve noticed Robbie Hyde has a Fenway Faithful channel now. There is another guy with a Red Sox content channel. I’ve taken a peak at them… Red Seat Radio is the most engaging by far. Keep up the good work Corbin.
Filling out the 40 man roster.. I beleive the Sox' management now has gotten better at figuring out a strategy to aquire free agents.. where there are holes in the 40 man roster. I would say the biggest hole is having shut down relief pitchers.. that enter late in a close game.. and get 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 outs.. and get a win!
Our position players of the future are pretty set with Campbell, Mayer, Anthony, and Teel coming soon, I hope all spending efforts go into 2 frontline starters and a closer.
If we sign Soto, I will literally faint! If that happens Corbin, please do a "live" 😅 I'm hoping for a Soto, Freid signings...a solid OF and C signing and top it off with a Crochet trade....and then add some bullpen depth where we can get it.....got me excited with this video Corbin! Go Red Sox! ⚾️
It was interesting like you said that he specifically mentioned being ok going over the competitive balance tax. That should encourage a lot of people. It's not out of possibilities to have a huge offseason with 2 massive signings and a large trade all in the same offseason. Getting an extension done after the trade is a different story however.
Actually the goal should be championships if your going all in! Keep in mind the Yankees are more memorable then the Braves in the 90's. Just saying winning Divisions aren't what they were use of or the Braves would of been more remembered as the team of the 90's.
I had decided to not get excited about rumors but to wait and give the Red Sox a chance to show this year is different. I agree this is a lot of intelligent people making big statements. So I will listen and wait because in the end no matter what I have been a Red Sox fan for so long and I will be A Red Sox fan until my time here is up like so many of us I 'm hoping and feeling better this year and as always "Let's Go Red Sox "" make us smile!!!
Why does it take so long for MLB to do anything in the off-season? Free agency started weeks ago. Free agency would already be over if this was the NFL. MLB really needs to do something to make free agency a fun thing for the fans to care about. The longer you wait to do something, the better chance you have to do nothing. Let's get this thing rolling guys! I don't want to hear about we are willing to spend more. It means nothing until you do it!
Even IF .. that doesn’t mean they will…I actually think they are going to spend some money this offseason…your right they are not stupid but to this point they think the fans are
Im starting to actually believe it now. I would appreciate Max Fried in a RedSox uniform. I think it can actually happen now. Lefty ace in Boston. I have seen some articles saying he is coming. I hope they are correct. I also believe that free agent pitchers are pricey. There is a lot of reasons to develop home grown pitching talent via the draft. Take pitching very early in the draft. Otherwise even if we sign some free agent aces now you get caught in a similar position in the future and we have seen the consequences of that. Great video Corbin and thank you!
@ Agreed. It's just so hard after the past few seasons. I just want to see the Sox playing October baseball again. I just watched "The Comeback" documentary on Netflix and that has me missing Sox October baseball even more.
To me it doesn't matter how much money they spend. They need to spend it correctly, everybody here knows what holes need filled. A top of the rotation arm, lefty preferably. At least 2 bullpen arms, and a right-handed power bat. Heck they could do that with out spending a dollar. And if done right the big 4 go on to be stars for the Red Sox. But a Blake Snell signing would be nice.
Hey Corbin, Hope this fines you OK,,, Love your optimisim on the latest comments by Kennedy. And, I certainly hope this is correct. Just a little un-trusting based upon previous year comments and actions. I would love to jump on this bandwagon and I will once they make some moves... I believe they need a left handed Ace Pitcher, another starter either right on lef handed. Bull-Pen help and a power coming from the right side. How does this sound to you... Trade Abreu for Crochet, sign Fried or Burnes or Sasaki. Sign Soto and trade Casas for Guerero... Hey Corbin also have a fantastic Thankgsgiving..
You left out something that happened while Sam was in this interview, so in the middle of the Interview they had to stopped because Sam received a call from David Ortiz and after the call Sam Kennedy was happy and said “Good things are coming”. There is a big rumors in DR that David is trying to convince Soto and he also always wanted to bring Vlady to the team.
Going back to last year with the New York Yankees'. Yankees' struggled after the first 60 games or so.. without a closer. They lost something like 12 - 15 games. If the had won half those.. maybe the first two games of the World Series are in New York. My point is.. you need a plethora of shut down releivers in the bullpen. The bullpen cannot be mediocre.
In fairness it would seem they wanted to see what they had (like 15’ when the spent to land at 18’) with all that young talent before making significant moves. They saw a juggernaut offense up until the break. So, it makes sense they’re ready to spend. We’ll see
No. They knew they had no pitching. Still have no pitching. So seeing what you "got" is pointless when you know none of the youngsters are pitchers. Also, why do I should be fair to them? They are not fair with you. They do not improve their team but have no problem charging you more. (every year).
^^objectively the only thing this comment is right about is the bullpen. It was bad. The rotation was a top 10 rotation in the sport. They have pitching, they need to sure it up
@@thrawn5k Clearly you have no idea who you’re talking to. No one harder on ownership than me. As Corbin can attest to I’d think. The rotation and bullpen are evaluated differently than 2-9. And those evaluations don’t always coincide in a timely manner. When you commit to getting younger across the board at some point you have to see what you have with the training wheels off over the course of a season. They did that. Now presumably the brass has enough confidence to add pricy pieces to all phases.
maybe not this upcoming season, but definitely in the coming seasons, the Sox are with their prospects starting to look similar to Baltimore. Baltimores big issue now is, they didn’t solidify their pitching to go with the rest of their team. Boston can jumpstart this team simply by adding top end pitching, ownership h a s to know this.
The Sox made offers last year to Montgomery and another player but it takes two to make a deal. Fans are disappointed yes but we cannot forget they tried! After all this hype let's not all be disappointed again!
At the very least Sam knows the ramifications of using language like that, not following through and the consequences that will surely follow from Sox Nation, national media and worst of all Boston radio. Vicious would be an understatement
But what have been "the ramifications of using language like that"? Not much. They continue to make handsome profits. Sure, fans are getting more pissed and cynical, but there isn't an affect on the bottom line of FSG. Kennedy takes more heat, but he receives a commiserate chunk of pay to do so.
Obviously we have to be skeptical until they actually do something however maybe I'm drinking the Kool aid but I actually believe it is going to happen this off season. You points are extremely valid if they don't act this time they are going to lose all credibility. Hopefully something will get done quickly as usual we'll see 🙈
We gotta trade prospects thats just the nature of the beast. You caht have all this top talent and other guys that are not far behind them. Only so many players can play on a full mlb roster. Its easy to hoard prospects and sit stagnant, that isnt the main goal
The situation with Betts' was different than with Soto.. that being said.. I still would not do any sort of huge contract with Soto. You lose draft picks I think.. when you go past the $ 241,000,000 $ thresh hold. Your draft picks/minor league ( A ).. ( AA ).. ( AAA ).. is the foundation of the Boston Red Sox organization.
Until the Sox actually make a real signing or trade, this is just more of the same. After 3 years of the same old thing Sox fans need to see actions that back up their words. It's way too early in the off season at the moment to make any kind of assessments right now as we have not seen any top FA or trades for anyone yet. You just have to hope it's not more of the same, kind of wish they sat down with Soto and said this is how serious we are with you. Here's our offer of (give a ridiculous number) and say we don't want you to go to any other team and the offer expires once you leave. They would need to go all out. Instead I think they have the Plan A (Soto) Plan B (Teoscar) and Plan C (some starting pitching that is a front end player) and so forth. I think all of us Sox fans should be in prove it to us mode right now and not oh your words sound different this time around so we can maybe start to believe you. Keep up the great job reporting things, I was trying to get the highlights of the Kennedy speech and you delivered it.
But my whole point is this isn’t the same. It’s not a catchphrase, it’s not a cryptic message, it’s not a politicalish statement. This is as plain as it gets.
Talk is cheap! I do not think high priced free agents normally worth it. I do believe Soto is an exception to the rule. It will be like when they got Manny Ramirez. I think they should go to the second tier for free agents. I am not against signing free agents. I would sign Sasaki in a second. I thought we would have had Crochet by now. It seems like the Sox are moving away from him. I think the team as it stands now is an 85 win team. They say they want to be a 90 to 95 win team. That is only 5 more wins. A stud pitcher to start and a couple relievers would do that.
@@redseatradio I am seeing other rumors of Abreu going elsewhere. So I am starting to the Red Sox might not be prioritizing Crochet. I did see a Yosida to Seattle for Castillo who you mentioned weeks ago.
