Jim- Dodgers GM has said the Dodgers will be going to a 6-Man Rotation. That means only listing to SP5 is one short. But maybe that is Fried. But it could be anyone of the 3 Top Aces.
Dodgers fan here ….i would love burnes on the Dodgers but they need a lefty so they’ll probably sign snell or max fried . I wouldn’t mind them trading for Crochet . He’s younger and cheaper
@@pardeepsekhon1582 I say get all three Burnes, Sasaki, & Fried/Snell or trade for Crochet if it works out on costs. Ohtani may not pitch till May. When/If Kersh comes back. If resign Walker and regardless May to the Bullpen and you still have spare arms, Miller, Gonsolin, for injuries or extra rest on a 6-Man Rotation.
They don't need a lefty, they won without one. They just need the best pitcher available. Although that is Burnes, I do think Snell has the best fit for the timeline they want to pay for. Snell probably will be max 4-5 years.
I see Snell getting less years than Burnes, but their AAV should be similar. Snell has proven to excel when the lights are brightest, same can't be said for CB.
You keep ignoring that LA plans to run with a 6-man rotation this year. That has a massive effect on their needs and plans. Plus, they don't have a lefty in the rotation, unless/until Kershaw gets back. Going all the way back to early last year when you were talking about the trade deadline, you keep underestimating the Dodgers wants/desires for starting pitching. You kept saying they didn't "need" another starting pitcher, and I kept asking you who the heck was going to pitch for them in the postseason. They ended up trading for Flaherty. Same is true now... they're going with a 6-man rotation. They will absolutely add another major arm this year -- possibly two -- because they understand the fragile nature of pitching in general, and THEIR starting pitching in particular. They aren't in a position to pencil Gonsolin and Miller into the rotation and call it an offseason.
In many ways, Soto’s the reason these guys haven’t already started signing. Those QO’s are a big consideration. A team like the Dodgers or Mets will be involved in the SP market, and if they’re already losing international $ and picks because of Soto, there’s no way they’re going to take additional penalties for Burnes. They’ll pivot to Snell and others instead. Burnes will go to a team that misses on Soto.
you keep saying the dodgers don't need starting pitching and i couldn't disagree more. Yamamoto missed half the season last year injuries Glasnow is injury prone Shohei coming off UCL surgery... they 100% need a starter
yes but they don’t need to prioritize a big time starter worth 20-30 mil. They have top of the rotation arms (Ohtani, Yamamoto, Glasnow). they would be more likely to sign somebody who is closer to a #3 starter (or Fried since he’s from CALI)
@ Ohtani didn't defer all that money for the dodgers to be cheaper. They are gonna go out and spend especially since ohtani delivered and won a WS the 1st year of his contract
@@TitleInfo yes but they used that money to bring in Yamamoto and extend Glasnow. I could see them going a top of the rotation arm like Fried or Burnes, I don’t think Snell is the best fit, especially given his injury concern likewise the rest of the Dodgers SP
@@matthewmcnamara4873 Brandon Gomes has said it over a week ago that they're targeting a front end starter. I don't get why people aren't listening to the GM. And those top 3 you listed all were injured in '24 for a substantial amount of time. They're not risking running out of pitchers a 3rd year in a row.
The Dodgers have said they are targeting front line starters. It's a need. You can't list 5 guys who are injured in 2024 and expect them all to be healthy come October. And no way mister 8.52 ERA is number 5.

Jim Riley, Great show! I am a Yankees fan. It's possible Yankees re-sign soto and maybe try to trade for Vlad Guerrero Jr. Because the yanks need a first baseman! Imagine Judge, soto, Vladdy and Stanton together?! That's possible but I do not think Yankees get Vladdy. Plus, Blake Snell will find a home somewhere on a good team I feel.
Dodgers should get Fried and Crochet. Then get Adames and re-sign Teoscar. Then see who's left after the FA field dies down and make the finishing moves. Actually they should get Tanner Scott if the price is right too.
if the O's don't want to re-sign Burnes, i don't see them signing Snell. Snell will probably be a little cheaper but not enough to pick him over Burnes.
I can he’s not gonna be a 7 yr deal if we can get him on a 4-5 yr deal then his contract will end around time when arbitration hits for Orioles young players
Dodgers are a shoe-in to sign a starting pitcher. Doubt they want to rely on Bobby Miller or Tony the Cat as the 6th starter to be honest, keep them in the pen then they can be ready to go as a 7th starter for rest days to manage Yama + possibly Sasaki. Snell my first choice, Fried second choice. 4 year for Snell 5 for Fried Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tyler Glasnow Shohei Ohtani Blake Snell Walker Buehler Roki Sasaki With Kersh/Miller/Tony G as the depth for inevitable injuries
lol on pretty much everything you predict the dodgers not getting a player (outside of sasaki). I don’t think the dodgers get snell but do you truly believe the dodgers will lose out on every player and trade target? Because that’s highly atypical for them.
@@thomasgaines4636 how am I “writing them off”? Seems like you’re creating a narrative that isn’t there Thomas. To write off would be to dismiss with no regard…and I am clearly regarding them as a possible destination.

The Dodgers have a distaste for Boras for decades. They will do anything to avoid dealing with his players. Now Boras needs the Dodgers, even if they don’t sign his players. Let’s not leave this fact out of any negotiations. Savvy Wall Street guys are difficult to screw over…..Soto will not be a Dodger. He’s not a generational player based on the fact that he doesn’t play defense at an elite level. If they can sign Burns on a short term deal than do it, and if they miss out on Sasaki, a trade for Crochet makes sense for a lefty

Snell going back to the Giants. Posey going to give him 5/160 to come back. Book it.

Nah. I think with all the spending that didn't pay off last year they go mid-level. I say Kikuchi and Kim are the 2 biggest FAs they get.
