    Sasaki to the mariners is not my first prediction, but they're also certainly not the longshot you're making them out to be. Pitching wins playoff games and if they can improve the offense by trading one of the starters (becomes a good option if you are signing sasaki) suddenly they are a serious threat for a deep playoff run.

  • @camelliasan2293

    Sasaki to the Mariners somehow makes sense to me. Their pitching staff is the best of all. they have a recipe developing pitchers.

You mentioned 5 of the guys they have and did not bring up the 2-3 top OF prospects they have kicking at the door. The Cubs are looking at trading either prospect or OF just to make room. CIearIy Roki doesn't care about money right now and maybe the same mentaIity is shared when it comes to winning, maybe he doesn't want to take the easy route of joining the aIready good Dodgers that don't need him to win championships. Signing Burnes would not preclude the Dodgers from Signing Sasaki. The only questionj with Sasaki is where does he want to play? He wants endorsements...the Dodgers had around $100m in endorsements from Japanese companies. He wants to win...the Dodgers just won. Some are building up Yu Darvish as a mentor, almost to the point of him being a father figure to Roki. I don't know.

Good relationship with Japanese players? Yup. A six man rotation might appeal to him and we have arguably the best starting staff, adding him would make us even more lethal. Mariners make a ton of sense for Sasaki. The Mariners aren’t that far off; I know they had a down year, but let’s be honest, most of their entire lineup just had down years. They will not be that bad next year and getting Roki allows them to trade a pitcher and get some quality bats in return.

      @@greatnessdelton1381 Why do only the Dodgers or Padres make sense? When he was posted similarly, Ohtani didn't go to the best team available to chase a ring right out of the bat. The Mariners also have one of the best, if not the best, pitching development programs in all of MLB and fantastic facilities, not to mention the best ballpark for pitchers to pitch in.

    • @greatnessdelton1381
      @greatnessdelton1381 День назад

      @@M4L1CEIt's widely known he wanted to go to the Dodgers off the rip. But because there was no DH rule in the NL at the time, and the Angels were right there, he chose them.
      The Angels were pretty solid in 2017, and were on the up and up heading into 2018. You had prime Mike Trout, a still serviceable Albert Pujols, Justin Upton was one of the best outfielders in baseball, and Andrelton Simmons was a top 5 SS in the game. They also had, what looked to be at the time, two future frontline starters in Andrew Heaney, and Tyler Skaggs(RIP). Arte Moreno also had a ton of money to spend in F/A if he wanted. It wasn't a bad decision.....AT THE TIME.
      The Mariners are not an attractive landing spot to the level of the Padres or Dodgers. I can't speak on the Padres, but I can on the Dodgers, given I'm a fan of them. The Mariners have a good pitching development system, I'll give them that. That's where it ends.
      The Mariners are a small market team that can't upgrade their team in free agency significantly. They either have to trade from areas of strength or develop their way to the top.
      The Dodgers can do both of those things too, but have the money to play with on top of that. And if the Mariners have state-of-the-art developmental facilities, the Dodgers are the ones making said facilities in the first place.
      Weather and location is a factor. The weather is almost always perfect in California in general, while Washington is one of the coldest and wettest states there is. And while still on the West Coast, LA and SD are geographically, the two closest teams to Japan.
      Then we look at money. If he's forfeiting $300M+, it's not really a big factor, but the fact remains, bonus pool money is nothing. The Dodgers have a monopoly on sponsorships and endorsement money thanks to Ohtani and Yamamoto. He's going to make the most money in LA, in off-field revenue.
      Finally, if the deciding factor is winning, well.....the Mariners stand no chance. They've never won a WS despite having stacked teams in the early 2000s, and will still be on paper, the 2nd or 3rd best team in that division, nowhere near the Astros and a coin-flip between the Rangers, the previous WS champs.
      The Dodgers, well, you know the gist. 11/12 division titles since 2013, 12 straight playoff appearances, 4 WS appearances, 2 WS titles in that span, and are the current, reigning WS champions. They're the best team in not just their division, but all of baseball, and are poised to get even better this off-season because they have a ton of money to spend as well. They also have the top two Japanese players in the game, his former WBC teammates, and are in a big market that embraces Japan.
      It's a slam dunk decision. 🤷‍♂️
