This game was like watching Sean Clifford's entire career in 4 hours. He looks good, he looks terrible, you want him in the game, you don't want him in the game, he gets hurt, he comes back, he seemingly loses the game and then ends up winning the game. He is like the human roller coaster
This is the most accurate comment I've read in awhile. Students back at penn state flooded streets like we beat Alabama... we're lucky we made it out alive after playing like that tbh. both lines looked gassed 3rd quarter ( D-line actually came to life late which was good ) run game still not consistent, Clifford already hurt, receivers dropping everything that hit their hands most of the game. Gotta get it cleaned up before Auburn in 2 weeks.....p.s. Allar looked good lol
@@capitanfuturo594 damn dude. whyd you call him stupid if you don't know him? also everyone wants underdogs to win because you know.... people want to see the better team to lose make have things be more interesting. Your kinda a dick dude
Jeff Brohm is a horrible clock manager. Less than 3 minutes to play and you only make PSU burn 1 TO due to the incompletions. Horrible clock management!
Only 1 run play in the last 3 Purdue possessions and failed to call timeout at the correct time late on the final drive. Horrible management in the last 6 minutes by Purdue
This game felt like the game last year when Penn State went into Wisconsin at upset the Badgers. Except, this time it was the offense that did most of the damage. Sean Clifford proved many people wrong tonight. They thought he wouldn't be the same after last year, they thought he wouldn't get over throwing a backbreaking pick6. He overcame all of that with 5 total TDs. The defense had their problems but hey the first game in a new system especially against a really good Purdue offense is never easy. Finally, the win streak against the Boilermakers is now at 10 games. Although we shouldn't get too high, because we have to go to War Eagle in 2 weeks. And we all know that's going to be a big game too. Anyways awesome win and remember, WE ARE!
I'm a huge Penn State fan, so I feel like it means more coming from me that when Gus Johnson said that final drive was "One of the best drives in football HISTORY." It was radically hyperbolic...
Ya, play was 10x dirtier than the targeting, but dude got to stay in game. Guess the karma + Clifford combo came back around and stuck it to that clown.
Clifford looked very good. Moving in the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field, knowing where his check downs are, he’s got speed outside the pocket as well, and made some nice throws on the run. That’s NFL ready play right there
They have a new Defensive Coordinator who needs a year to install HIS defense and get some guys who can implement it. If you want to blitz and cover, or protect the edge, you need more than size. I know. It's about Manny Diaz, the ex-Head Coach of the Miami Hurricanes, my hometown team.
@@devonlaut1675 Not really. Purdue was calling low percentage plays and they have a QB not capable of executing. And of course, what should've happened is Purdue should've run out the clock and won the game, because they had it in their grasp, and then blew it with bad coaching.
Wow did Purdue give this game away: First, the missed tackles. On pretty much every Penn St big play you see them catch it short but Purdue defenders just bounce off the ball-carrier and let them go for much bigger plays than it should have been. Wrap the hell up! Second was time management. They had two chances to kill the clock at the end: 6 plays, 1:37 off the clock AND 6 plays, 2:07 off the clock. How do you not kill more time?
Also all of the flags on both sides of the ball for Purdue. That fumble by Sheffield before the end of the first Half lead to the 67 touchdown by Strange. The chop block flag against King Dorrue hurt. All momentum was lost When they reversed that catch by Durram in the fourth.
A lot of people complained about PSU’s offense, but they scored 35 points. I’m more disappointed with the defense. I truly believe that any time they score over 30 points, a loss would have been the defense’s fault. They have enough talent to be able to exert their will on most Big Ten offenses. They need to execute better and pressure the QB much more.
Purdue play calling lost this game for everyone. 4:50 left and you call 9 consecutive throws? I couldn’t understand the logic with the boilermaker’s play calling at all
The refs gave that game to Penn. The bogus roughing the passer call and the horrible overturn on the great catch near the end completely changed the game..
I thought he caught it too, but the ball hit the ground after he caught it. I don't know the rules, but maybe that's why the Ref overturned the call. Great GAME!
@@johnadams5489 the claim is that it was overturned because you cannot use the ground to aid in making the catch... I. E. had it not hislt th ground he would have dropped it.... In this case he very clearly caught the ball and had control just beforw it touched the ground and the ground in no way aided him in making the catch, if anything the ground almost made him lose the ball. So it should nit have been overturned. Especially considering it was called a catch initially.
Purdues is up by 3 with 3:30 left and 1st and 10 and they can run down the clock? Idk once they reversed the catch on durram all momentum was lost for Purdue. That stopped the clock. Purdue has to have better clock management. Purdue had some great moments this game. Players made big plays on both sides of the ball. But penalties really hurt them tonight. This is a game that Purdue should’ve won. This was a great game with 7 lead changes.
Purdue's coach needs to be fired immediately. There's no way they should've lost that game. He ran the ball 1 time in the last 4 min being up by 7. I was screaming at the TV "RUN THE F-ING BALL!" Purdue was trying to lose that game. I'd investigate the coach after that game. He must have been paid off.
@@MrImaghost Watch the replay, there is clear evidence that the ball touches the ground, even if he tried to trap it the top of that football is on the ground.
After the debacle of last two seasons i think coaches have just given up on PSU lol. As an alum I can totally see that. This was a good win but i expect Ohio State and Michigan to easily beat us this year. Auburn and Michigan state can do that too on their day.
