When you pour from a can like that have the opening at the top corner vs the bottom. While it feels odd as your further away from the pour it allows air in from the top and doesnt chug making a mess. Nice smooth pour without any mess. This works on 5 gal pails as well and washer fluid into your vehicle.
I've been using regular rustoleum with the valspar enamel hardener to paint lawnmowers. I've been reducing it about 10-15% with the cheap paint thinner and it's been spraying and covering well. The enamel hardener makes the paint dry fast and super hard and gas doesn't seem to affect the paint at all. I usually use around 20 PSI to spray.
Oil based paint doesn’t have any surface tension like water based products do. Must be applied super thin. Would also recommend acetone to thin, it evaporates much faster
I think you’ve did a decent job there. Yip in hind sight removing the motor would have been a good idea for a better finish. Good video with commentary and no shite music. 👍
I'm getting ready to spray an oil-based enamel through my HVLP gravity fed gun. I'm assuming yours is HVLP as well even though they do make gravity fed conventional guns you don't see them too often. Just watching the video it appeared that the paint was reduced down to about the same viscosity as an automotive paint, however I think by the sound and what I saw that you might have had the air pressure a bit too high. May have contributed to the paint running and what I see is a lot of overspray from the fan pattern. Otherwise good job.
next time you shoot anything in that spot, use a trailer with a cheap tarp, the thinner the mix the less air to shoot it,cuts overspray down immensely, the industrial paints all work good, thinning them is the secret,if you want them thick and have no time, use a very large spray nozzle 2.0 to 2.2 and let it fly, keep gun moving,it takes practice, and confidence comes with practice, paint on
You need to keep an eye on what you're painting and adjust the fan to suit. Too much wastage. I typically thin 20 - 25%, 32psi, light coat first followed by two even full coats, 5mins in between.
Hey for anyone doing this from what I have read the max dilution ration is 6:1 6 paint to 1 thinner (I use Agco thinner which must be Acetone, but it just says thinner) so max dilution with thinners is 16.67%, i found 10-15% about right depending on the paint.
Cant you just "eyeball" the paint to make sure it's just thin enough to spray? Just as long as it's runny enough to flow easily through your spray gun is all you would need right? The thinner (or water if water based) just evaporates out of the paint in the drying process....so really you are just tying to make sure it sprays....but don't want to over thin it..... so it runs easily after application causing streaks. I've only used my spray gun once painting an old rocking chair....it seemed my 'eyeball' method work alright. Can someone tell me why you need exact thinning guidelines?
Probably would be fine, this isn't the space ship or anything. Since I've made this video I've seen another where a guy uses Acetone instead of mineral spirits.. That may even work better.
HEAT your paint in the tin, this makes it thinner, and Hou don't need to add thinner as heating automatically reduces the viscosity, and ensures you don't get any areas where the thinner has not mixes correctly.
Pour the gallons with the nozzle on the upside of the can. Sounds counter productive. But allows air in and it won’t gulp.
Most guys never figure this out in their lifetimes. An old mechanic showed me when I was 21. Now 55 and think of him often.
Great advice!
Dang murdered that driveway 😂

Great INFO, thank you.
I second that great info 👍
1986FordF-250 - Thanks, I think I’m about to the point of needing to paint my lawn mower but wasn’t sure it’d hold up. The Valspar Hardner is great.
Good luck finding hardener these days. Valspar 4625 has been discontinued.
@@Marcoosianism I just bought some off amazon last month.

my directions for Rustoleum (Professional) HP enamel say up to 15% yes -acetone
Just the video I have been looking for!!! Thanks so much. Im planning on painting my 80 gallon air compressor
Great job on painting the mixer. I think I'm going to do some "experiments" with this rusto oil based paint if I can get it in Komicornia. Thanks.
Clear cut case of getter done. Good job!

''BETTER CALL SAUL'', The Sandblaster to clean the walls and concrete~~

Awesome cement mixer 👍
I wonder how your driveway looks like now LOL
If you pour with the gallon can on its side with the hole at the top it pour out better without splashing.
I'll give it a shot, thamks.
Turn the mineral spirits can 180°, it'll pour with Much less mess
Multi purpose thinner you can go up to 30% thinner the rest paint and use a 1.7mm nose on the gun I normally add a bit harder as well

Hello. What size air tank is needed to run your tools and sprayer?

Not bad for a first run !

Acetone, no mineral spirits
Mineral spirits are fine.
Cool video, thanks for making it.
thank you 4 not talking and talking looks good learned something
Sounds like your air pressure is way too high
Sound like
Did you use a HVLP or LVLP gun?
HVLP. I'm finding thinning with acetone, 2 parts paint to one part acetone works pretty good.
Crank the pressure up more lol
Mineral spirits is the wrong thing to use. Use xylol for reducing enamels. Using lacquer thinner, acetone, etc is also the wrong thing to do.
I like that piece of that amc javelin emblem haha
If you like that you can see the whole car get restored. Check out the Javelin playlist.

I’m just looking at a paint heater for my kremlin lacquer sprayer. Interesting. Maybe build one to try out with a bucket heater.
God damn, I didn’t know Danny Bonaduce would be spraying
nozzle tip size..?
Maybe you should’ve painted over the grass . You’ve now permanently ruined your concrete driveway.
i got a 2.0 tip gun for that stuff
u must have one bad ass compressor
yep
What is that item on the pulley side of the motor? Is it a gear reduction thing to slow up the rpm?
Yes, gear reduction box
1part to 7parts is 12.5%
That thing blasts the paint damn
You said you had "no idea" of what you were doing! Why not read the instructions? I am sure that the manufacturer of the paint knows how to apply it!!
captain obvious to the rescue
I wonder what the longevity is
do you need paint sprayer
do you need paint sprayer
Very very long time
Using a wagner
Yes, read instructions ...
I'm going to revoke my us citizenship for Canada. It seems like everyone in Canada is intelligent to some matter over Americans
Eh
WTH?
You definitely need to learn how to paint
Damn that's an ugly color !
John Deere Yellow
Exactly what I needed grassius
So all in all it doesn't itemize as good with airless I take it?
Awesome
