    This is not a paid for promotion by Teknos, the paints used were purchased from Holman Specialist Paints, purely to showcase the technology and how good water-based high gloss paint can perform against its oil-based equivalent. As always, your feedback and input is very welcome.. what high gloss technology and paints are you liking?.. is it just simply “you cannot beat oil-based”? ..regards Pete

    I don't know if many noticed but there seems to be a distinct point made about using a face mask. It is never assumed and keeps popping up again and again as a gentle but clear reminder that we only live once and there is no point shortening your time by ignoring safety protocols. LOVE IT!

      You’re very welcome Paul.. great question, I did have a ‘backup’ 1 litre can because I did have some natural wastage priming the GX21FF and returning the leftover material back to the can.. testing aside, I have to say one 1 litre can was enough to get setup and airless spray 2 top coats on a single external door 👍 ..take care my friend.. regards Pete

    Great video pete,what a finish you got with that door in the water based gloss finish!it has some sheen,is it easier to get that build up once door is lying flat?could you get the same high solid build up if its hanging?i have tried spraying oil based paints but find it difficult compared to water based,it tends to need more thinning,water based is the way to go i reckon,I used my new graco gxff cordless down the garden yesterday spraying masonry fence posts with dulux weathershield!what a joy to use,your videos are inspiring and gives us all confidence and help using sprayers

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ 2 года назад

      Hi Edmond, you’re so kind thank you very much.. yeah that was my reasoning to spray the top coats flat, and spraying the primer hanging to minimise the time that the door was off.. trade off / risk is something could land on the flat door, but I was very lucky 😓..I was half expecting a swarm of flies to be attracted to the yellow 🙈 ..I’ll have to do a vertical hanging test, it’ll be interesting how far you can push it 🤔 ..I’m so pleased to hear about your success and that you’re liking the GXFF Cordless 🙏 ..mine (reluctantly) had to be handed back to Graco after filming ☹️ ..it really is an innovative cordless design, and so nice to setup and use 💯 ..all the very best my friend.. regards Pete

    Great video once again, every time I see your videos I am inspired to give mine a serious go. I think the question was answered slightly about when you applied the second coat of water base top coat on the door? was this just by experience or timed and did you do any sort of de nibbing [maybe not the correct term] between coats or straight on again. cheers

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ Год назад

      Hey Shane, thank you so much, I’m pleased that you’re inspired.. go for it my friend, you won’t look back.. take some small steps to begin with, spray a small project or if you’re a P&D, perhaps start with ceilings and manually do the rest.. basically build your confidence, I don’t want you to any bad experience that could put you off.. ceilings are straight forward in that you protect floors and furniture anyway if your using a brush and roller.. get it right and I’m sure you will and you’ll find like me that spraying ceilings is cleaner than a brush / roller, better finish and much less taxing on the body 👍 ..In answer to your question, I denib the primer and only the first topcoat if I notice any contamination, otherwise the 2nd topcoat goes straight on after the first coat is dry.. you can push the boundaries with drying when spraying, if you know how your product will perform.. hope this helps buddy, keep in touch 🙏 regards Pete

It’s an Alkyd 90% sheen, so maybe it looks wetter than it actually is, the tip was .010 so for a relatively high viscosity paint that’s thixotropic, the fluid flow really wasn’t that high .. the door was stood vertical to cure and I can assure you no paint ran 😆 ..all the best buddy, great to have your contribution on the channel 🙏 regards Pete 💙

      Thank you so much Michael, that means a lot 🙏 ..Good question, 9 times out of 10 I’ll spray doors vertically (not flat like in this video), and I’ll only spray in a vertical movement too.. first top coat is at a regular steady speed, then second coat I’ll slow the movement down as much as I know I’m able to do without risking a run.. what I call a ‘healthy coat‘.. by that, you know the product, know how it performs and how far you can push it to lay on the optimal coat.. then when it dries and pulls in, you get the most beautiful finish 👌 also I allow each coat to be ‘reasonably’ dry before the next coat, the first ‘thinner’ coat will dry pretty quick 👍 ..anytime you need help or advise, I’m there for you buddy 🙏

    Problem is , Should I buy o ly 3/16- 7,5 m for 100$ line , or tc pro can get for 250$ used like new.
    but I reded many bad about tc pro , some ultra or max some model different tips.
    pump very short working life , sometime to short.

    this tc pro it's invest in gun , after pump , again pump, pump.

    • @PaintHQ

      Hi Adrian.. no problem my friend.. there was no thinning with either paint, that’s what impressed me with the Futura Aqua, the way it went through HVLP.. it was a warm day so I know that would have helped, I’m a fan of warming paint for HVLP.. I think also the pressure cup helps and it being an air spray (conventional) HVLP setup.. the oil-based Futura could definitely need a bit of easing though to get it through HVLP 👍

    How do you set the 800 psi. I have the gx21. Should I set it so it shows 800 psi when trigger fully depressed or 800 psi at standby? I tried 800ish and I got lots of pinholes in my finish? Am I moving too fast? Tried really slow and got runs, was I too close or too slow ahh

      It’s the static pressure you go by.. in standby 👍 ..you need to be approx 10-12” from the substrate, and speed is relatively quick ..although speed can be dependent on tip orifice size, for example smaller .006 / .008, you gain much more control ..what product are you spraying ?
