Just got my first RC, a FMT24 and this is the frist video Im looking at, I was honestly expecting it to be bad so I bought an 150C now that wont work either because it didnt come with a small plug for the lil lipo.
I've followed his link provided and scrolled through 5 pages of product looking for the right connector. Of the two connectors on these batteries, What is the smaller one called; so I can search for it?
I bought a new r/c with a Lipo battery yesterday and after watching your videos you answered my question about why the battery isn’t charging with the charger provided. It just flashes red. Now I have to go charger shopping 😂
Epic vid!!!! Love a LiPo safety Video Francis, Cannot overstate these enough!!! Even the tiny 1S batteries can be a brutal thing when they decide to go up. Having the best charger to all your batteries is ideal. Keep them on a concrete floor away from anything that can burn. Never leave them unattended..... EVER!!!! Thinking "nah... won't happen to me"?? You-tube Lipo battery fire and see how ferocious these things burn!!!!! Do me a favour... ditch the USB charger... make up or buy an adaper harness for batteries you have and use that big lipo 4 button charger you use for the big batteries... it'll make everything safer... Believe me... lipo fires are extremely tough to extinguish in the best of circumstances!!!
I couldn't agree more! I use the bags and still have them sitting on my kitchen's tile countertop; nothing to burn and can be easily watched. Why these RTR's with batteries (and questionable chargers), or even just batteries, don't come with "fire safe" bags is beyond me. Speaking to the SCX24, and similar, I wonder how many of these little guys were bought by folks that aren't part of the community and have no clue? Sounds like a serious lawsuit in the making.
Thanks for the information! I have a nice charger, but am still fairly new to the RC world. When I bought my SCX24s, I wondered if I could somehow use that charger on these little batteries. Now I know. 🙂
the USB chargers are convenient when traveling but i do use a battery doctor to balance my cells before charging. Also the new SKYRC 2S charger that does it all through the balance port now which does put a bit more oomph into the cells off a 12v source
This is why I love my Venom 2 - 4 Cell AC/DC Dual LiPo Battery Balance Charger it charges up to 3amps through balance plugs and it can charge Two 2S lipos at one time...nice for the little lipos so you don't need to go crazy with all different battery connectors and stuff and up to 3000mah packs. I beleive there are 3 brand names that make this charger and it's the same as the venom one.
You should have made a build video or still should. I get it but many people won’t understand what you did to make this 3 end charger cord. You should also elaborate on the how or why 500 Mah is where you chose to to start when there are 350 and 300 mah batteries. Many of these small batteries can bd charged off of 1s , 2s drone chargers with only one connection. These chargers are around $20 on Banggood thanks for the video!
Good point. 500 mah is where i started since that's what the USB charger puts out. If one charges a 350 mah battery at 500mah, it charges in 45 minutes instead of an hour. Connectors are here snp.link/14d41586
Great review and great topic to handle. A lot of people do not care about this weak and cheap chargers that can cause fire or blow your batteries... Invest some money on a good charger and you will save a lot of money!! Good quality adapters are also very important. Some thin wires cannot handle the current and can also cause issues or even fire...
just broke my second one within like.... 5months using the stock charger. why do they just get puff all the time? am i using the wrong charger, or am i handling them wrong? i just dont understand it
Go on fb and say those chargers aren't safe ..about 50 people will comment that you dont know what your doing and your using the wrong power block ...I think they full of dhit they are dangerous compared to my htrc t400.great videos
Good advice. On the SCX24 I would suggest getting rid of the PH 2.0 connector. They have a limited connect unconnected cycle. The pins will wear & cause dropout & brownouts. I replaced mine with an XT30 could also use the red JST but I prefer the XT30’s. Now my PH 2.0 connector stays plugged into the esc & doesn’t get cycled. I actually cut the battery wires in half & soldered the XT30’s to the bare ends.
super helpful thanks! Intrigued by the mention of running 3S on stock scx24 electronics. Are you still doing this? What benefits do you see on 3S with stock electronics? Do you discuss it more in depth on any of your other videos?
Cool, informative video! Personally, I am against adaptor cables: Whenever I buy a new small or medium-sized vehicle (or drone) I convert everything to XT60. Easy, simple, reliable, safe... If you push an XT60 to its limits, you can sometimes even avoid using XT90's... It's probably the most versatile standard out there, and most modern chargers are based on it, so there are no compatibility issues.
Thanks for sharing. Adapter cables are only used for charging. And at the scale and amperage draw of this vehicles, even during in use, not really an issue.
Yep my team associated cr12 came with a usb charger. I was looking all around my house and I thought I lost the charger that came with it because I totally forgot it was just a small usb. It did come with a battery with a balance wire though
I've been wondering about this . I started in 1/10 scale so I have a couple chargers know I just need to come up with the right connecters . Thanks ! I see i'm not the only one .
So am I confused, does the USB charger use the balance lead to charge the battery? This is where I keep getting confused on what type of cable to buy for my lipo charger. So when you use a lipo charger the balance lead is no longer the main source to charge it?
Great video and thanks! If I may ask what is the type of power connector used on the EAZY RC 1/18th scale Glacier, 2S 7.4V 380 mAh battery I am trying to build a cable that will work with my Spektrum S2200, thanks again!
What about non electrical geniuses without fancy diy harnesses? Any advice for us? How can we safely keep using the included charger? Charge in a fireproof bag only under supervision? Or will the battery explode regardless if said charger is used?
You make great videos. But this one is actually quite poor. No info on how to make the cable (or where to buy), what connectors to use, etc. I understand that this is clear for all RC enthusiasts, but not useful for beginners.
Thanks. It would be GREAT if the main screen was on the charger and battery! We like you and all, but I cant see a thing!! I can see you just fine. Was that your intention? Haha Maybe in the future you could show us what youre doing in the bigger part of the screen. Thanks again for the info.
I have a FMS - FCX24 K5 Blazer & Furitek - FX118 Fury Wagon that has small 380mah & 600mah lipo batteries. How many amps & millivolts should I charge these small capacity lipo batteries at on my full size Lectron Pro charger at?
Hello. Great topic. Question, I’m new to the hobby and I have a basic LiPo charger - Ultra Power UP4AC. I have both 1/18 and 1/24 WLtoys cars which use tiny 2S LiPo’s in the 400-2200 mah range. My charger only runs 1-3 amps. For these smaller batteries below 1000 mah, do I charge with the 1 amp setting or do I need to upgrade my charger so I can charge lower amps? Thanks.
Hi Francis, great video. I bought the FMS Atlas 6x6 based on your review. have two questions, where can i get another 7.4 V 600mah battery, and what type of connection is this rc using? would like to get a wire for my HTRC T240Duo charger. Thanks and look forward to your reply
i would use 300mah to charge even though battery is rated for 3c charging rate. my rule of thumb is always go at 1c which is 350mah or the closest lower setting.
I'm really having some issues to get an adapter to charge these mini-lipos, because MN99s came with a JST SM 3 pin... I have a Hota D6Pro but I can't find an adapter from XT60 to JST SM 3 pin... Crazy... So, I'm unsing the USB one that really sucks...
My sons fcx24 smasher he got a week ago has the blinking red light on the charger and cant get ot to work anymore. Does that mean the charger is broken or the battery or both? I am gonna get a better charger.
Hi, I have a big issue when charging my small crawler LiPos with my hobby grade charger. I‘m using a ToolkitRC M8 as charger and the charger in your video is obviously a rebranded version of it. I’m wondering why you’re not addressing the following behavior in your video: When I start charging my small 500-1000mAh Lipos, the charger almost instantly stops charging and displays „Charging Complete“ (or similar). The same seams to happen at 6:43 in your video! But when I then check the Lipo‘s voltage, it’s NOT fully charged. In many cases it shows a cell voltage much lower then it should (after charging). I already tried to set the charge current to as low as 0.1A, but the problem remains. Any idea what’s the reason for this? Or maybe even got a solution?
Today I again charged a smaller (and cheaper) LiPo with the charger in your video and had the same issue again: The charger will stop charging quickly, saying charging is completed, eventhough the battery is not at all fully charged after all. I have the feeling that the smaller the battery is, the quicker this problem occures. Any idea what’s the reason for this? And ideally how to fix it?
RC Review lol. Funny. U know what I meant buddy. I’m sure most don’t know how to do that. I’ve made a few but I figured that would of been good content for that style video that’s all😉😁👍
Agreed! And where exactly do you get all the connectors? Just hack them off the stock usb chargers, or are they available online so you don't lose your stock charger if you want to charge on the go with a battery bank?
I noticed that your batteries had two sets of wires on the battery like axials pack. We have one RGT 1/24 truck that the lipo battery uses one red and one black and does not have the other set of wires at the other end of the pack. Our USB failed and I would like to use our nice charger that we use for full size packs and use for our axial scx 24 packs. Is that possible if they dont have the other set of wires?
Hi. I got rgt adventurer and this comes with 1 cell battery. All these good chargers work for 2 cell and up. What would you say is the best option for charging 1 cell battery? Thanks. Btw, I like your videos. Well done.
@@RCReviewChannel cool. Thanks. Yes, this looks like a great option. I've been using the original usb charger, while having it inside a lipo bag and on top of that inside an ammo box. Bit of overkill, I know. But I have seen your other lipo videos and got bit paranoid... :)

You should always disconnect the battery when your car isn't in use, all the same even with the base charger it doesn't recommend charging it in the car, not to mention you'll need to unplug it to charge it anyway.
We think that is too powerful to use. That kind of charger doesn't allow you to adjust the current and it might charge the little battery at 4000 ma. Too fast for a 350ma battery
Ya I was wondering too?? My traxxas ID charger can charge as low as 1amp or as high at 4amp. I have some lipos that are 5000 and 5800mah batteries which on my ID charger max out at 4amps, so less then a 1c charge rate. I also have a few 1200mah batteries and the ID charger charges them at 1amp, again less then 1c charge rate. But if I had an adapter for my 2cell 350mah battery for my scx24, wouldn't my traxxas ID battery only go to 1 amp??? I realize it's almost triple the 1c charge rate, but could it still work??
Provided 350mah battery does say 3c charge rate, so 1 amp would be a smidge under 3c charge rate. And no it doesn't say .3c charge rate on the battery. I thought it did for weeks but that's not a decimal point
My charger isnt working and I figured it wouldnt so I bought a C150 ahead of time not knowing it didnt have plugs that small, So my first day of having an RC and I cant use it.
Guys just buy a good charger and don't use the stock USB charger on SCX24. I don't know what Axial did there but it's not responsible from their part to put such a bad Lipo charger in the box. The vehicle it self is nice to have.
The safest and fastest is to match the mah of the battery. So if you have a 5000 mah battery, you charget that at 5000ma or 5 Amps. That will take one hour from zero charge. If you want to charge slower, you can. If you want to charge faster, you can charge at 10 amps and it will take 30 minutes. Ensure the battery does not get hot.
Almost lost my home bc of these and i was right there happened so fast rubber beside caught fire so fast housr filled with smoke had to use fire extinguisher bc it was electrical the power is still around from that😊
Good safety information👍🏼. I’m tired of1/24 though..no interest. But I always look forward to a new video from you guys. You have tons of 1/10 rigs, show us what’s on the shelf.
Why do the good companies provide these? They should be illegal if dangerous. As soon as a supermarket has a product which is considered dangerous to consume they are all over the news asking to recall the product. But these chargers are known to burn and they still sell them wow backwards world we live in.
This video should be mandatory watching after buying a mini lipo crawler

The safest and fastest is to match the mah of the battery. So if you have a 5000 mah battery, you charget that at 5000ma or 5 Amps. That will take one hour from zero charge.
If you want to charge slower, you can. If you want to charge faster, you can charge at 10 amps and it will take 30 minutes. Ensure the battery does not get hot.
Mine caught on fire and thank god I saw it or they woulda got me a new home
Almost lost my home bc of these and i was right there happened so fast rubber beside caught fire so fast housr filled with smoke had to use fire extinguisher bc it was electrical the power is still around from that😊

@@RCReviewChannel thank you for all the insights!!!!! ❤👊🏼✊🏼😁
We really need the connector.
Yes! It needs to be sold as an aftermarket part. So many dumb little standards though for mini crawler battery connectors though.
That why use allways lipo bag!!
What brand is the green mini and black mini?

RC Review ... the mini green truck and the mini black truck that looks like a scout
@@t9dragon the mini green crawler is a Panda snp.link/23aae054 and the black crawler is a URUAV CR24 ruclips.net/video/YYyEhw__-is/видео.html
Good safety information👍🏼. I’m tired of1/24 though..no interest. But I always look forward to a new video from you guys. You have tons of 1/10 rigs, show us what’s on the shelf.
he made a video of the collection already
Spicy Jax ok. Tell us about a build or something. I hate 1/24, but i like the content.
Get a Tekin system
His connector video is a must watch also --> ruclips.net/video/9UhIDsi-zaA/видео.html
0.5 amp charge or 0.3
For a 350 mah batt .35 for a 500mah .50
1000 ma =1 amp
A 1c charge rate for a 5000 mah batt would be 5 amps
I know but I see that he was charging 350mah batt and he put 0.5 charge
Yup, that is the SCX24 gear. Thus it charges in 45 minutes
Why do the good companies provide these? They should be illegal if dangerous. As soon as a supermarket has a product which is considered dangerous to consume they are all over the news asking to recall the product. But these chargers are known to burn and they still sell them wow backwards world we live in.
Maybe better not say boom in this content 😅🙈
Buy a Pro-LiPo charger, throw he USB charger in the trash, or get a fire extinguisher
