Already ordered! Respect for telling people of other options man! It's not every day you see see someone promote their competitors items. Shows integrity
Been using your strix board for a while. Highest quality board I've owned and I LOVE the fuses. Keep doing this please! Why does no other manufacturer do this??
Yours and the Lumenier are the best out there. Back when I bought my most recent parallel board, I went Lumenier, but your new one has the features of the Lumenier that I wanted and also does both XT30 and XT60. Great design.
Have you ever seen a box cutter fly? Joshua! love you man. I've "learned something today" for months. Sooo much fun, is fpv, just strap me in and set me free. I aspire to be a freestyle Pilot (like you) and I wanna show someone the first quad I "built", call it the Crab. After experiencing FPV I'll never be the same person THANKS! Keep learning us J.B.
Another similar para board in terms of features is the new HGLRC Thor one. Only has 4 outputs, but is more compact, and also has a discharge module so that you can get batteries down to the same voltage easier
I love that the balance leads are off to the side instead of on top. It looks like it'll be easier for those batteries with shorter leads and it gets hard to cramp batteries together if you have them too close. Just ordered.
Yeah. They work, but they'll bite back if you do anything wrong. Mine has two 4S ports that are just dead, because the heat from me plugging my battery wrong (twice) desoldered a pin. Now I've got a two-port charger, and that's sufficient for me, I think.
I think you missed the real competition, the URUAV Blacklight B6pro. I think it was the first one I saw to have it all, poly fuses and automotive fuses with indicators plus XT30 and XT60. They cost pretty much the same but their are some slight differences in their feature sets: URUAV: The automotive fuses it comes with are transparent, super easy to check, if one has tripped. It has a beeper for when something has tripped. It also has a detachable XT60 connector to the charger. Yours: It has an integrated battery checker. It has designated daisy chaining. As for the daisy chaining you could do this on the uruav probably as well if you simply connect the second one to one of the outlets. However, I would rather go for a charger with multiple outlets and attach individual parallel boards to each of them, but that's probably personal preference. Also
I had a cheapo parallel board Catch Fire a month ago. After that I immediately ordered two of your JB boards. Theres no comparison to the quality. It's nice to be able to charge and relax at the same time.
Watched it but did not realize how huge this board is. Quality is top notch. Having XT30 and xt60 EPIC. Will have to order 3 more though $$$ for the Hota D6s
I've been in fpv for 3 years and I'm still afraid of parallel charging. This one has me temped. Thanks for sharing. I like your products they hold up great. I've got like a 4-5 builds with JB Fc. Btw. Your the best.
Gosh, JB, I'm pretty sure that was at least PG-13, and maybe even R in some parts of the world. Well played! Just got 2 of the new board in from RMRC yesterday. Really awesome stuff! I'm very impressed by the build quality as well as the features. Could you do a video on how to use the pass-through capability and some considerations to think about when deciding whether to use it, e.g. safety? efficiency? Calculations needed and any other considerations in terms of setup and monitoring. Thanks so much for working on this product; it gives a lot of us some confidence in the purchase knowing that you were involved in it.
That's a much better design than the old one I used that scared me away from parallel charging. I probably would have stuck with it if I had that one. The board I used had the array of balance connectors, and over several years I had two incidents where I plugged a balance plug into the next sized connector. Because of the way the connectors on the board were aligned, it meant that it was offset by 1 pin and short circuited the cells. The first time melted one of the traces I needed for 4s charging off the board. The second mistake... Yeah I threw it away like I should have the first time.
Hi JB. I'm pleased with the board but one thing i wish is that the balance plug was pointed up just like the power plugs. Is it possible to modify them to make them point up?
I only have XT60 connectors on everything so I use the Toolkit RC M6D with the ISDT parallel board. The ISDT board is a heavy, well made piece of electronics. Solid case. Good design. Love it.
Heya, JB. I ordered two of these. I think I'll be ordering two more. I rather like them. :) Thanks for all your work. I wouldn't be flying right now if it weren't for your videos. I'd be at least another couple of weeks. :) I did get one of the Lumenier ones, but I have to admit, I haven't used it once yet with yours sitting next to it, but it's smaller. It'll be the one I carry with me into the field. Cheers, mate!
VERY happy with the build quality, loving it! One thing of minor note is that mine came with black balance plugs, and some black foam edging to protect the two boards from getting anything in between them - looks even sexier that this preview/review unit ..Already modded it with some TI screws LOL
Funny enough, I was just looking for another parallel charge board today. Ordered one. EDIT: what if you plug in the balance plug on the wrong side? Will this board's fuses protect against that?
The daisy chaining feature looks like the deciding feature in this case. For my typical usage, I need at least 10 lipos to charge at a time. Being able to chain 2 of these together would make this a very compelling case. Could you perhaps elaborate how the chaining works? Some example cases of how you would use this (or expect this to be used). Seems like an underappreciated feature from where I'm sitting 😉😄 Loving the safety details btw. Great job!
I had the pervious board and it worked great for 2 months. Then one day would always send a "abnormal battery connection" to the Q6 pro. I never got an answer back from Strix and ended up just buying a different board.
Still got the 4S version, I'm glad to see that the ports are a bit more staggered on this one. That was one of my only complaints with the old one, I've broken so many fingernails trying to unplug the dang XT60s in that middle row heh. The separate voltage checker is also a great idea, makes way more sense. You can just ignore it and use your own, until you realize you left it in the car and then you always have a backup.
Your board looks good! I just am not a big fan of parallel charging: I don't want to think about matching voltages every time i charge cells, "Oh no, I only flew half of that pack, now I can't charge it with the others!" or "yeah, those are all 2s batteries but one has lower capacity so it will go boom if I charge it together with the higher capacity ones". Gladly I only fly up to 4S right now and the ToolkitRC M4Q is a perfect fit for me - charging 4 cells at once is okay and it can discharge them (very slowly) to storage voltage too. I don't think parallel boards should be a necessity any more at least for the regular hobbyist who does not need 40 batteries charged up at once. Just instead of a micro 4x4s charger like the M4Q is, produce a 6x6s charger that is larger (or lacks the DC in) still can discharge to storage voltage, has a bit better plug layout (XT-plugs are next to balance plugs, but balance cables are usually shorter so the balance lead tends to unplug) and 99% of people would be happy.
I just had a lipo fire with your 4s board. Has to of been my fault. I'm confident I accidentally grabbed a charged and one discharged battery 5,000 mah and set my charger for 10 amps walked away. 30 mins later smoke alarms. It was in an ammo can next to a concrete wall under metal ductwork. All is good except the mess fro the dry chem fire extinguisher I used. I'm getting the new board and and a co2 extinguisher. Stay safe boys. Don't get lazy. Check every battery before putting it on the charger.
Really appreciate the authenticity and effort put into ALL your work. I have balance boards galore (other JBs even) and this one is well thought out and definitely my new favorite. Thanks again!
I own 2 of those boards, both had issues with on board battery "checker", after unscrewing lower plate turned out factory haven't cleaned flux residue from the board which I assume just corroded contact overtime, after re soldering everything related to such circuit and proper cleaning with IPA the board runs like new.
I cant wait mine comes tomorrow! I bought a 10$ board and it freaks me out a little bit I'll be honest lol. Really looking forward to having some sense of "relative" safety lol.
For micros, I prefer series charge adapters, especially in the field. You can charge two 3s packs in series and don't have the safety issues of parallel charging. On Ali there are super cheap ones that work great and charge only using the balance plugs (which is totally fine for

It would be a new product but I've always thought a small addition to a parallel board create an amazing product:

If one of the channels had a field pack on you could either charge them most of the way or storage charge them depending on the charge in the field pack.
You could literally solve battery management in one product. All you'd need would be a bunch of current limiting circuitry and maybe a pot to set max current.
The problem is the same current limiter that protects from dangerous current flow would also interfere with charging
@@JoshuaBardwell not if the limiters were on the channels, it would just limit the per pack/cell current. fewer ports would make that economically reasonable.
That is your best intro ever!!! Loved it, so funny!!!

That parallel charging board is amazing though I need to get myself one of those!
JB: Besides the risk of mixing batteries of different cell counts on those balance plugs, I made a mistake my first time trying this board, and plugged in a 4S aligned all the way to the left instead of to the right.
