  • In this video, we take a look at Mistubishi's Forgotten JDM GT Car - the 3000GT (or GTO outside of USA).
The VR-4 was never perfect, but it never needed to be. This car represented the pinnacle of technology from a car maker that was never known for beauty or particularly sporty cars. Combine its power, comfort, luxury features and fun-to-drive factor, and it’s a recipe not matched by any of its contemporaries.
If you're interested in tuners or classic cars, you're welcome here..

They are busy making tiny shitboxes. Cars have only ever been a little side gig for them anyway. The days of VR4s, EVOs, AMGs are long gone. They used to innovate too, GDI, INVECS, Active Yaw Control etc but no longer

Love the 3000gt. Made my youtube channel to document the build. Though it is just the non-turbo FWD model. But ATM its gutted, caged, with a fully built all-motor build in it. Using parts that have never been put in one before.

I owned a black '91 stealth and a red '93 3000GT vr4 back in the 1990s -2000's. I loved those cars right up to the point where parts were impossible to get, finding a mechanic willing to work on it was impossible, and the cosmetics of the car fell apart. When I sold it I had to drive it 2hrs to the new owner and I had to stop 3 times to fill it with oil hah. Maybe parts are easier to come by these days but I couldn't imagine trying to own one as a regular non mechanic in 2023. Man I loved those cars though.

easy to find a mechanic to work on it, the question is did they not want your business and from the techs I talked to at the repair shops didn't like the owners who came into the shops telling them what they should be doing and top it off telling them their rates were not worth their experience. no dis to you at all but sadly seen it from both ends. loads of parts out there and services to fix and refurbish the Ac climate control, only 1 thing that isnt out there for service or refurbish is the active struts on the car, but there are places like - FEELS suspension im sure could be talked into rebuilding the stock ECS struts.... :)

Only for someone that wants to buy a car and just drive it. Never do maintenance. Has no money. Lives on a shoestring budget.
But the same applies to a Ferrari or a Lambo.

Now driving dynamics with the AWD and AWS this will give any High end exotic a crazy good run for the money on the canyons and road course's with treadware's below 340. Stock out of the box from a standing start you're not gonna be the fastest with GVW of 3800lbs and 300hp, Wet weather driving with a set of new fresh tires in Cali when Jan got the most rains in 20+years, was absolutely astonishing amazing, at times was expecting the car to hydroplane or get all over the place it didn't and stayed planted to the road for the conditions +30 the posted :), as I did this test out the repair that was completed. I do hope those get a chance to experience what an amazing car the VR4 is on a road course, canyon touring and long road trip !

hey im from massapequa NY. Lived in ny up till 2016 then moved down to south carolina. I own a 91 Vr4 and have been building it for a year now. Remy Rides has been doing all the work to it and morgan from racers X performance is tunning it ..

Great car however the SL non-turbo handful of owners who spam YT FB and Ig and offer zero tech support in the group is what can easily ruin the VR4 experience. FYI buying a VR4 , one that's been sitting for a time super important to remember this .... Timing belt. Fuel pump. drop tank and replace the pump and sending unit. Next, if you get a Misfire and cant figure it out it is most likley the ECU capacitors that go bad and they are year specific the ECU's also the Mas Flow Sensor - go with an NGK aftermarket only unless you want to go OEM Mitsu,. Now for the tune-up and timing belt for those who want to do it just know this isn't a 1-day project and will take some time, if you have a tech who can work on your car greatly, now for the many who will end up going to a mechanic make sure you get written estimate and id suggest you ask if OEM or aftermarket parts will be used how long it will take 1st red flag unless you're doing a clutch with the tune-up/timing belt is an engine out for this process depending again what needs to be done and easy buying a car that is sitting you will be easily spending north of $8k+ for the basics, again Im sure someone will like to half-ass it and do it for way less, but again....... Should you get a misfire look at the ECU or the Mas Flow sensor? Once everything is sorted out on the VR4 you will have an awesome car to drive and will be a lot of fun as well. 91-93 if you have plans for one do your homework and check the groups to get info on it and just know once you get into selling a VR4 when you are done with the platform make sure you do all of the services and have your timing belt service documented by a repair shop that reports to car-fax so you give the next owner peice of mind on the work that has been done !

The prices on these cars has been rising for a while now. A car in need of some work gets about 20k. They range all the way up to 57k for a low miles great condition car.

I own a 92 VR4. It has all the original systems and features that were later phased out in later models. It has things like 4 wheel drive and steering, automatic front and rear spoilers, and other nice extras. Sometimes these systems can act up but the engine and transmission have always performed very well and the car has never let me down. I've kept it stock but this summer I think I'll add some custom touches. Lowering and flaring the fenders enough (if possible) to add 10 inch wide tires along with tuning the turbos to get addition hp. Mine has the bright red color and I'm considering a exterior repaint. I'm a little concerned about painting the engine bay to cover the existing red color without pulling the engine. If I mask off parts and temporally unbolt the attached accessories I'm thinking a carefully applied black spray paint might just do the trick. It's only has 92K and exterior and leather interior are in near new condition. The problem of lowering, fitting fat rubber and clearing the wheel wells is hard. If I have to cut away metal to solve the problem I'll loose the ability to return to stock condition and that will be the toughest decision I will have to make. You can find these cars for a decent price if your willing to fix some issues but fully restored models are a bit pricey. When you sit in one you really feel the car wrap itself around you and it's a great feeling.

Owned a 1992 mitsubishi GTO for 10 yrs but eventually sold it as it was becoming harder and harder to keep it on the road as a daily driver through spare parts becoming scarce and very expensive other than that the car was in great shape and it was a sad occasion when a club member drove it away.
