      It's wild isn't it. The strange part is I have seen the RTX 4080 months back at best buy for 1049$ once and 1079$ once. People were like.. "terrible value" still. Also all the AIBs will be $1200+ USD anyway. It just feels silly to me lol.

      @@techwandoUS People are enslaved to nVidia due to a variety of reasons, but the keyword is "enslaved". Some will eventually shed their bonds, but most won't, admittedly due to many dire circumstances well beyond their control. After all, the only alternative is to settle for Team Red's trailing line, which will still only save you a few hundred bucks.
      I'm personally not purchasing anything, as I don't want to wedge an expensive and not-so-small nuclear reactor into my micro case. I'm waiting to see how the 8700G shakes out. Yeah, I won't be playing CyberTombForza 4K 9000 on it, but I can live with that.

      @@stephencurah1059 From 10 series sure, a normal 4080 that was on sale a few months back at $1,050 also made sense for those people .
      After the first shipment of 4080 supers, I don't believe they will be continuing to fly off shelves. The $1200 FE 4080 (Non S) didn't fly off shelves. The logic just doesn't add up. If there was an actual performance improvement, that would make sense.
      It's just a rebadged card essentially with a few more cuda.

    I sold my 5 month old 7900 XTX for this card, I'd rather have a nice quiet stable card , with almost the same performance and not deal with all the AMD issues that I had.. My Hellhound 7900 XTX had extremely loud coil whine, 110c hotspot, (they didn't accept RMA, as it was "normal"), 52c delta and the bad software that I couldn't use, as it would crash if I had relive active..

    • @agentoranj5858
      @agentoranj5858 7 месяцев назад +2

      110 hotspot is kinda normal and you throttle the card a lot if you tell it to avoid going that hot, but the delta should not be that extreme. Sounds like you needed to tighten the cooler a bit, or rather, AMD shouldn't have sold it to you with the cooler that loose.

    Still laughing in 1080ti. glad I wrote off Nvidia and Jansen. an XX80 should be 800 dollars. if Battlemage hits 4070/80 perf for around 400-500 it will WRECK team green. Im expecting a "humble pie" generation with the 50 series, like they did with the 30 series after the hilariously terrible 20 series. wont matter to me I wont buy anything they have to offer as my 10 series is still kicking hard and I dont play the newest games as most of them are also trash or dont require the latest shiny technobauble to run well. I grew up on an Atari 2600 and an SNES, didnt buy a new in box console until the ps2. paid like 70 bucks for a psone at a pawn shop and got 5 games and two controllers with it. graphically its all uphill from there LOL

    People want to keep blaming Nvidia for these releases when in fact, IMO, the real problem is the amount of users who actually pay(overpay) for these GPUs. There's really no one to blame except for those who continue purchasing these products at inflated prices. "But I needed a new video card!" Bla, bla, bla. No different than the current, now trending down, car market.

    The thing is, many people were not ready to spend $1000+ on a GPU, so a lot of gamers just chose 4070 Ti, which was the real 3080 successor in terms of price. This card was very popular in the first half of 2023.
    While others pulled the trigger and got 4090.
    I am sure this was Nvidia's plan all along - sell 4090s to those who want top tier card and do not care about price. Others leaned towards 4070 Ti. 4080 was intentionally priced so high, to push people one tier up. I am afraid, the same thing will happen with 5000 series. We will not see 80 class card at

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah I am afraid you might be right. $999 is the new 80 class price unfortunately. If this card sells well it will also help Nvidia validate it.

    I do think all the nvidia cards are overpriced depending on perspective. AMD could technically charge a lot more and intel is practically giving their GPUs away. My thoughts on the 20 series buyers remorse or buyers remorse in general is just not knowing what you actually want. You only have remorse when you bought something you thought would do what you want but didnt. If someone got a 2070 to play 4K instant buyers remorse but the 2070 will play EVERY single game ever made at 1080p since the dawn of video games.
    Basically I think GPUs have started to skyrocket because the manufacturers realized they are not just selling you one generation of cards but a card than can play the entirety of gaming history at once.
    thinking about new GPUs hypothetically it two ways:
    "Wow this 500$ gpu barely has 8gb vram, can't do 4k, latest games need a res drop to (HD lol) instead of UHD. This card sucks! overpriced!"
    "Wow this 500$ GPU will play every single console generation, every stand up arcade machine, every game ever made since the inception of games! for 500$!!!"
    viewpoint 2 is a freaking steal and becomes increasingly true with how potent CPUs are becoming. So imo it circles back to what you actually want as a gamer. What I will say is that if you want bleeding edge perf/visuals that is very costly on PC.

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  7 месяцев назад

      I enjoy the multiple ways you have laid out looking at it. I think you are right too. Today every card (just about) can play every game (dating back to even the 10 series). In the early days that wasn't so true.
      Now you select a card mostly based on target resolution or monitor refresh rate.
      Every card does... everything (minus ARC, lots of weird stuff they need to fix lol).
      This 4080 Super excitement just was so confusing to me as I have seen the 4080 non super for $1049 at Best Buy and other stores a few times now (like 5+ times).
      My only theory is that people talked so poorly about the 4080 for so long that even the discounts didn't do anything to help them sell it, which is another weird thing because all these tech channels act like Nvidia never discounted the 4080 and maybe that might be true about Nvidia themselves, but their partners like Best buy for an example did actually drop the price, Newegg If I recall as well.
      And so knowing that most people are not going to get the FE because it will sell out. I know that they're going to have to spend $1,200 anyways which just...
      😵‍💫
      I think you get my point lol.

    • @D3nsity_
      @D3nsity_ 7 месяцев назад

      I agree. I think the 4080 was the biggest miss of this gen. I feel like unless you game at 4K and don't like upscaling there is no reason to upgrade to 4090. Not much of a reason for the whole 40 series if you have 10, 20, or 30 series really. 10 series possibly due for an upgrade if desperate to play alan wake 2. Otherwise the only good card this gen was the 4090. I feel like people really want to have cost/perf ratio be at least 1:1 if the price is going to increase. 4080 vs 3080 being 71% more expensive but not matching with a 71% perf increase killed the card and much of the lineup. However, the 4090 being only 6.7% higher price than the 3090 but being 50% to 80% faster makes that card one of the better price to perf increases they may have ever done. The 1080ti over the 980ti was 7.6% increase and was 50% to 90% faster than the 980ti. They are very similar scenarios but at much higher price 650 vs 1500, 700 vs 1600.

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  7 месяцев назад +1

      @D3nsity_ 100% agree with everything you just said. The 4090 in a strange way is sorta underrated (I feel stupid saying this), but now ruined by ITS poor pricing lol.
