    Lean into that big dad energy, and give the game a new variation each time you mention it. "Hey, you gonna go play Wibbly Wobbly?"
    I also did the PC building thing with my kids too... Any hands-on project you can do together is going to be a great memory, beyond the practical benefits here.
    Congrats on being the coolest Dad in her friend group!

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  4 месяца назад +3

      I actually laughed out loud at that "wobbly wobbly". I probably have called it that. Also yeah man, totally about just making memories with the kid. She doesn't have a phone yet either so this is the main interest. I intend to feed into it as much as possible haha.
      Do your kids ask for upgrades or take a deeper interest in the hardware element of it? I was pretty surprised to be asked by her, for a GPU. Like "woah, you remembered what that was?!".
      Appreciate your comments as always man.

    • @AAjax
      @AAjax 4 месяца назад

      @@techwandoUS A bit of both. My kids are early 20s now, and I have a couple anecdotes...
      My youngest son just upgraded the platform in his PC without my help. I offered of course, but he wanted to plan, order, and install it all himself. He made a couple minor mistakes , like using a cheaper pcie 3.0 mobo with a pcie 4.0 cpu, but I only found out afterward and just shut my mouth. It's a great first result, it does what he wants, and I'm proud of him.
      My daughter took her own GPU install, but eventually needed a bit of help due to cheaper case fitment issues. But... she's away at college now and had an issue with her PC. I was able to give her minimal instructions to reseat the ram, gpu, etc., and we got her back up and running. (I gave her a spare after that)
      I agree about introducing them to stuff and running with it if you see a possible passion. Plus, it's just good for human beings to do stuff with their own two hands and accomplish a goal.

    • @AAjax
      @AAjax 4 месяца назад +1

      @@techwandoUS Apparently youtube thought me talking about spending time with my kids was too subversive, and filtered out my first reply. Second try...
      A bit of both. They generally take on upgrades for themselves, but sometimes need help or ask me for guidance. My youngest son recently did a whole platform upgrade himself without my involvement. My daughter, who is away for college, did some ram and gpu reseating during remote troubleshooting with Dad. So it does pay off, even if they don't go full builder.
      Aside from all of that, it's important for people to do things with their own hands and accomplish something. Your girl will sometimes look at that PC and say to herself "I did that". That's good for the soul.

    Hey dude great vid I was looking forward to this one.
    The moment you said "this was way overpriced" and she says "but this one has a cat on it" was precious, she definitely has her priorities straight for a 12 year old 😂 when she's buying her own GPU she may focus more on price to performance. Really cool that you built this all with her instead of just doing it for her, teaching the next generation of PC builders. And the upgrade looked sick in the end.
    If you're focusing on "seeing" stutters for comparison more than fps, another thing you can do is enable a frame time graph in afterburner that gives you a little line (sorta like a heart monitor line) in your on screen display, it will spike up when a frame lags. You can Google it if interested or I would be happy to reply if you need tips.. Wish her a happy birthday from a random commenter!

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey man! Yeah the 4060Ti was a hard pill to swallow money wise but, like you said...
      She has her priorities haha. When a young girl asks for a PC part, (unless it's like insane money) you buy it 😅...
      Any other build I'd be like, no way.
      As for the stuttering, I'm convinced her cards drivers were just way out of date. Also good pro tip on the afterburner graph trick, I usually have it ticked on my main PC, but forgot it on hers. I knew we were ripping it apart anyway so I just winged it. Probably should have done some proper benchmarking on it. Next upgrade...
      I will tell her happy birthday, she will be very happy, it's actually today so!
      Thanks my friend.

    Been building PC's since like 13 years old (and most definitely not a master at building them etc. cause I have yet to build a water cooled PC (too lazy for that)); $500 for the 4060ti is not a rip off (in my honest opinion). That is pretty much normal base price if you look it up anywhere online and/or looking through pcpartpicker. Your average price about $450 not including taxes i.e why its $500. I got my 4070ti for probably about $750 to $800ish and thats also pretty much the base price; so I dont really see why the complaint. Also feel that "lazy cable management" part. She is lucky youre such a cool dad for her and I think it was a nice cat inspired computer build. Really liked the cat GPU to be honest :)
    Edit: I guess seeing this a few minutes later that the GPU being 8GB instead of 16GB could technically be considered a "rip off" or not worth it yeah. Depending on how you; I or anybody else sees it. We all have opinions and such and there is also the facts but imma just say this: build and buy whatever you want or like! Its your build; friends build or anyone elses build if building for others. Make it unique to your taste or even their taste :)

      So it previously had dual 4gb 2666 memory. Kinda slow stuff tbh, but at the same time she was only running the 1650S. I believe the stuttering was coming from a bad driver tbh. The art game just was super vram limited, was jumping up to 6.5gb on the 4060Ti at 1080P

  • @m0ssyk1m10
    @m0ssyk1m10 4 месяца назад

    The stutters in the old config were definitely due to the low measely 8 GB RAM combined with the GTX 1650S only having 4 GB VRAM
    Getting an 8 GB VRAM GPU like the 4060 Ti and 32 GB RAM helped eliminate the stutters

      So they cut a vent along the backside of the case. Similar to the older NZXT H110 series. The other day she beat Hogwarts, the highest temp of the GPU was 66c with the room temp set to 70F. Not too bad for a poorly ventilated case design.

    Yeston really has cornered the market on cute GPU designs. I've loved this design since they first used it on the RX 580, which was also grossly expensive. The premium that importers are able to charge and people will still pay it is kinda wild. I really wish more manufacturers would try some cool and interesting designs like this on their GPUs. Just so we can have some price competition 😂

    • @techwandoUS
      @techwandoUS  4 месяца назад

      Totally agree, I could see many brands doing at least a line of creative cards or something different just to draw people in. I don't think it should ever really be super theme specific like a video game specifically because that's as bad as like a band tattoo haha...
      But color wise why not get fun and do some pink blues all that kind of stuff. Heck vaporwave works with all of that and people still run vaporwave all the time.
      I give credit to companies like Zotac with spiderman, Asus with their Gundam and Eva, but I think it should just be simple color schemes.
