    I've been doing "Bulletproof" coffee over the last couple weeks. Absolutely love it. I use 1-2 tbs of grass-fed butter and I'm working up to a tbs of mct oil too. Drinking that for breakfast and it keeps me full for hours!

    Love that you made the switch to buying bakery bread vs packaged bread! I did the same thing within the past year just to eat more quality ingredients too. Not sure how quickly you go through bread (my fiancé and I don't eat it everyday so one loaf can last us a long time), but if it takes you a while to get through the loaf I recommend freezing it. You can pull a slice out of the freezer and toast it up and it tastes just like the day you bought it.

    Ceviche is my favorite food, Becca! I was just in Miami for work and ate it every single day. It's wild how different it is served depending on where you get it. I am so used to eating it with tortilla chips or dried plantains (my favorite way), but this past week it was served with sweet potato, peruvian corn, and cancha (toasted corn). So yum anyway it is made though! And finally, I totally feel you on the margarita situation! I am a wine girl, but my mixed cocktail of choice is a marg, but ONLY if it is all real and fresh. Keep up the awesome work, Becca! Xoxo

    When making your bread, make sure your yeast is mixed with a little warmer than room temp water. If you mix it with too hot or too cold of water it can actually "kill" the yeast and it won't rise. It helps to put your dough in a warm place and keep it covered. It'll help it rise. 😊

  • @sarahdemarrero3520
    @sarahdemarrero3520 7 лет назад

    Hey Becca! So fun to see you're making your own bread. My mom and I started to make our own whole grain spelt bread a few years ago when we realized the crazy ingredients in most store-bought options. All this to tell you that when we first started our bread looked almost identical to yours! Here's a few tips and tricks we learned through trial and error that ended up making our loafs look nice and pretty.
    1. If it's gummy, add a bit more flour than the recipe calls for.
    2. Don't over knead the dough. Some grains have higher gliadin to glutenin ratio which makes the gluten more fragile, breaking down easier from over kneading. We limited ourselves to 5 minutes maximum to keep the gluten intact.
    3. Place a damp paper towel in your microwave and microwave for about 15 seconds. This creates the perfect humid, damp environment you need to allow your dough to rise. Place the bowl with your dough in the microwave afterward, and cover the bowl with the warm paper towel if desired.
    4. Last one, if your recipe tells you to beat down your dough half way through the rising process and then allow it to rise more, try omitting that step. So much of the rising process depends on humidity, altitude, and temperature, that there's no hard and fast rule that makes this step necessary. For us, it worked much better when we left it out.
    Hope these are helpful to you!

    Also how far are you filling up the little pod for the keurig? I have one for the 2.0 as well and have never had an issue, but usually will fill it at least like 3/4 of the way (my normal morning coffee is 20 oz because I have a problem)

  • @christinelalka7329

    Hi Becca - love you, your husband & puppy 💗 & I’m so thankful I found your helpful ideas. So yes, I use the 2.0 and I usually would have purchased a medium strength kcup for my coffee. Now I purchase a medium-dark ground coffee and I use 10 oz option BUT my coffee maker has a ‘strong’ option on the lower left side of the screen. Then it’s perfect 👌🏼. What is ghee???

    I have the same kcup and I've never had a problem like I've seen others have. I do drink the darkest roast of coffee from starbucks or caribou coffee and I use a spoon spefically made for measuring coffee by boldness but you pretty much have to fill the whole cup up to make the biggest cup and it not be watered down. Lol xo

    Omg I need to get the disposable filters!!! It took me awhile to get used to not using the individual k cups and at first I was like.. heck no. But I found the right amount of ground coffee to put in the cup and I usually make 6 ounce cups vs 8.

    Another awesome tequila based cocktail is a Paloma, they're quite easy to make at home too! A proper one should be made with fresh grapefruit juice, a top off of soda water, and the smallest splash of simple syrup. Serve it on the rocks and garnish with a lime. For the ratio I always do it to taste, I usually taste it first to see if simple syrup is actually needed since tequila can be sweet enough on its own. I almost always add extra soda water because I like bubbles and fizz. If you like the sweet/salt balance of a margarita you can add a salted rim if you'd like.
    If you ever order one in a restaurant or a bar make sure you ask for fresh grapefruit juice since it can be sometimes made with Squirt or another grapefruit based soda which is gross in my opinion.

    Aw would love to see Rosie in every vlog! Lol. What does she have in her mouth at the end? Good point about eating something small before going out to eat! I'm a sucker for popovers but try to only have two if a place has them. Most of the time I don't like the bread because it's too hard, I like soft rolls. Also would love to see more info on home improvements! Have you ever done bathroom stuff with grouting? Mine is starting to get cracks and want to learn how to do it myself. Maybe someday I will redo the cabinets like you!

    For the k cups, I use a very very strong coffee (like Sumatra or another very dark roast) and make sure you pack the coffee grounds in well and fill the cup all the way up! I've never had a problem with watery coffee from that!

    When I use the reusable K-cups I tap the k-cup on the counter to compress the grounds a little, that way you can fit more in, you could also try pressing lightly. Not too hard, though, you don't want to clog it!

  • @gloriann4
    @gloriann4 7 лет назад

    This might not be a helpful tip but I use the reusable k cups and love them!!! The trick that I have found is that you have to use a coffee that isn't super finely ground up, so that you can fill the coffee up to the top of the k cup!! My husbands coffee is really fine and he can only fill it up halfway (or the coffee will l just drip out and nobody has time for that). I use coffee that is less finely ground, and I always get a dark French roast, fill it up to the top and it works for me!! I love strong coffee so I feel your pain!! If I want it to be super strong, I fill it up to the top and make a medium size cup...but do two...maybe a little indulgent but whatever! haha!

    • @gloriann4
      @gloriann4 7 лет назад

      Oh! Also, I drink my coffee with unsalted, grassfed butter and coconut oil (rather than MCT oil because I'm not sure how else I would use MCT oil) and I LOVE it!!!! I'll have to try ghee next time!!

    Hi Becca! I have been making my own bread for a while now and i only use few ingredients and it is the easiest bread to make and it tastes amazing and is also good for you.. I will put the recipe here. I'm from Europe so you would probably have to change your measurings. You need : 500 g wholegrain spelt flour, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 packet baking powder, 500 ml mineral sparkling water, seeds by your choice to mix in. You mix all the ingredients than you put it in the smaller baking tray and bake for 1 hour on 190 °C. That's it. It's good for you, easy to make and it tastes good too :)

      Ahh thank you Tanya!!! You're amazing! One question for you - is the packet of baking powder yeast? Or is it just baking powder? Thanks! :)

    • @tanchycaa

      No yeast, just baking powder :) If you will try it please let me know how it turned out ;) Also I'd like to ask you if you could make a video on how to eat properly for any type of diet so you can get all of your daily nutrients. Thank you for this type of videos I really enjoy watching them! Hope you have a great day!

    How much ghee did you add to your coffee? I'm excited I just bought some to add to my cup. Do you add anything else to your coffee?

    Try using ghee while roasting vegetables.
    Use ghee instead of any kind of oil, it makes the food so much better and it smells really good

    Good job for making your own bread! It's definitely a task 🤗❤️Maybe it needs to be proofed a warmer temp ( like body temp) and maybe for longer? Better luck next time!

      Thanks Brandi!! I'm in the process of making another starter and it's already turning out WAY better..it's actually bubbly & light instead of super dense like last time..so fingers crossed this batch turns out better! :)

    Gotta let the bread rise. Let sour dough starter sit in the fridge for a week or so as we. . It won't be as dense. I have a three ingredient artisan bread I make. One bowl, so delicious. The key is in the rising and then bake it at a high heat to start to get the crust thicker, spritz with water and the. When it's done you can rub a light cot of coconut oil over the bread and sprinkle with sea salt. There are lots on line but you can add more ingredients like olives, sun dried tomato herb de province, etc to make it more unique. Once you play around with it, you will perfect it. You will never buy store bought again. No preservatives. :)

      I just started a new starter - this one is just plain ol' water and flour - I'm gonna feed it everyday for ~7 days and then try again! Thank you so much for these tips!! I'm determined to get the process down (with whole wheat bread too) so we can have fresh, simple bread every week! :)

    i love your video!...., its very funny to me how cinco de mayo is such an "important" date in USA , here in Mexico is an important historic battle against France that had place in a city named Puebla, Mexico ...but as a holiday not at all... we would never celebrate it like you do ... I write this just as a "fun fact" 😉

    I buy a really fresh sourdough in the grocery freezer section-made locally-and it is a small loaf-dense and not high. Maybe depends on the recipe? So maybe it is right? Did it at least taste good?

    • @joycooper4023
      @joycooper4023 7 лет назад

      Never Mind I should have shut up and watched -see if it tasted good then maybe because it has less ingredients that was normal.

    • @BeccaBristow
      @BeccaBristow  7 лет назад

      Hahaha you crack me up Joy but yes it did taste good but was just WAY to dense. I think the problem was with the starter...it was super dense & definitely not right. I'm working on making another starter now and it already looks WAY better and normal, so hopefully the next batch turns out well!! :)

    Rosey is so adorable! I have a doodle that is cream colored.
    If you take her on walks every day, I cannot imagine how dirty her paws get. My tip is to give them "poodle feet" when they get groomed. It makes my life so much easier because she stays clean. Just wanted to give a little tip... it is simple but makes the world of difference.

    Do you think that having bullet proof coffee and breakfast is a lot of calories for the morning? Just confused because I thought bullet proof coffee was a meal replacer (430 cal)?

    • @BeccaBristow
      @BeccaBristow  7 лет назад

      Hi Johanna! I actually don't make the typical 'bulletproof' coffee since I don't add multiple TBSP of fat (typical bulletproof coffee uses MCT oil and butter I believe), probably just one or maybe even less (I honestly don't measure it out) so it wouldn't be nearly that many calories. Breakfast, or any meal for that matter, is a great opportunity to get in lots of nutrients, including fat, so I personally would never want to cut out a whole meal and replace it with a drink! Hope this helps :)

    • @johannacollins4721
      @johannacollins4721 7 лет назад

      Ok, thanks for the clarifying because I made it the other day and enjoyed it, but researched it and worried I was adding to many calories to my breakfast. I made mine with ghee and a tsp of coconut oil. I won't use the MTC brain octane oil either though. I love to eat breakfast with a good healthy protein vs drinking it! I totally agree! Thanks so much! Love how you are real and share with us with you eat.

    For making bread, getting a small bread maker would be the most efficient way to make it and they are not that expensive either and it does all the hard work and you still control the ingredients.

      I think I might invest in one! I have been taking a break from bread-making all summer but definitely want to give it another go starting in the fall. Thanks for the tip!
