I don’t care how fast an EV is… the v8 experience is special and can’t be replaced.
Fossil mentality
@@BeefGummybears Unless you're trying to say the experience is the same then you're just trolling and insulting.
@@BeefGummybears alright then Im a fossil and screw you !
Back in the old days, people thought riding horses was special too until cars came along
@@dreday1062000 false equivalence.
They market them as never having to spend another minute at the gas station… but you spend hours at the charging station instead?
Do you own a house? 98% of your charging is done at home. Cost me 1/3 per mile compared to gas. Plug in when I get down to 48% state of charge, 3 hours later or so while I sleep it’s charging. Just like a cell phone.
Wonder what you'll save when electric rates keep going up instead of down
@@vettesweetnos electric rates are regulated, gasoline is not. I would switch to time of use rate plan if need be.
@@appleiphone69 my government keeps letting it raise. Would hate for that to be the only option. Give me choice
Never spent a second on a public charger. I save hundreds every month.
If My 600 Pound Life was a car😂
😆
😂😅lmao
People have no clue how heavy electric vehicles are.
I swear bro they just look at horsepower and think oh yea that’s going to be fast but don’t realize it has to have high horsepower because the cars weigh so much to be able to keep the car rolling for a long time you have to have a big battery do it doesn’t die early these cars top out at low speeds because they’re so heavy the aerodynamics and weight are just too much bro
@@redhunnid5142I think it’s more of a control factor as police chases are happening more and more than it not having a higher top speed. Along with the motors being able to spin that fast without burning up. Also many are a single speed trans dodge intends to make a multi speed trans so it shifts like a car. They are heavier though probably be 5-6000lbs my guess. At the least 4800lbs but unlikely. The 6 pak is the only ice one and it’s 550 hp be the lightest one but probably still heavy at 4000lbs especially if they want awd probably more and that’s for the 6 pack not even the scat full electric 670 awd hp.
@@joshreynolds729that hurricane engine sounds terrible. Never thought i would say this but the V6 sounds better than that hurricane and the v6 doesnt sound good in the platform.
Any news or pics on a new challenger?
If you don’t own an EV, you don’t understand EV.
The hurricane I6 is already pushing past 30psi of boost. There wont be as mich tuning ability as people think. They are already pushing their limit.
All from a company not known for reliability or build quality. Who wants to take that chance with such a large investment?
Plus direct injection so expect to need those intake valves cleaned. More plastic wiring and sensors (all susceptible to heat) and an aluminum head, block, etc that will burn up with detonation issues.
Didn’t Fords Eco boost have twin turbos? A miserable failure
@@richardhammill3213 Ford kept offering the Coyote 5.0 V8.
Imagine all the car podcast you can do while you wait 😅
Yeah... The wonderful life of being an EV owner. No Thanks!
5800 pounds that is one special kind of boat.... Yacht... yeah... Yacht
Direct connect is what puts the final nail in the coffin for me why should I buy a car and then be forced to buy its power
Dodge will end up like Poniac 💀
You know I can see that sadly! I'm a dodge and Mopar guy... 2022 superstock, 2020 Ram 2500, 72 roadrunner, 1990 Ramcharger, 1993 d250 12V 4x4.... I'm starting to lose hope in the brand.. not interested in where they are going... need new CEO! The consumers aren't excited for dodges vision
Writing has been on the wall for years now unfortunately. It's a shame
Damn.....
@@jdubmash Since 2007 I have had 8 new Chrysler products. 5 Rams, 2 Challengers and a Chysler 300. My current Ram 1500 will probably be my last. Stellantis stupidly spent all that money for a make they hate and are determined to kill.
Pontiac got bought out by “Trans Am Worldwide” they open Pontiac now look them up on RUclips and google they’ve been selling Pontiacs for years now but at a smaller production rate because they have the engineers but don’t have the man power for mass production
Starting the vid with that clip was a good idea lmao 😂
The ending was really good too!
We already have an example of what to expect. The Pacifica plug in van has LOTS of issues. These include shutting down on the highway with no warning. The heater, which will probably be similar to the Daytona, also had many issues. The fixes either took forever or are still pending. As you said, stay far away at first.
With the Inline 6 version being wider and longer than the current version, plus awd, I don’t see them being very light either.
Exactly right, anyone thinking this car will be a light needs a clue. It’s humongous, and the coupe is way larger in wheelbase and length than a Challenger is. Add in AWD for another few hundred pounds, and you’re going to see them 4200-4400 pounds. As an example, the cars will be 206.6 inches long…Mustang GT is 188.3 inches long and in auto form weighs 3,853 pounds. Zero chance these Chargers are under 4,000.
@@Thurmanatr16 I really think at this point with running inline 6s they need a complete redesign of cars love or hate them sedans and coupe like the BMW M 3 series/ 2 series or others running inline 6s are very quick
Wisconsin has just issued weight limits on our roads ,happens every spring . EVS are pushing the limit on some roads during breakup.
Thanks for the continuous content
Watch Dodge put the direct connect power upgrade thing on an annual subscription :(
Top speed is more than likely due to the Tire rating that come from the factory.
Car and Driver estimated the RT pricing would start at $60,000+.
Then it’s dead(er) on arrival.
I’m pretty sure the speed limit is due to the limitations of the tires. The extra weight is going to cause tires to heat up and they won’t be able to handle higher speeds.
What speed is Tesla plaid limited to?
I don’t know, but it is 1000 lbs. lighter.
Why is everyone comparing this to a plaid? It's not meant to compete with that. This will be much closer to a model x in term of speed and weight.@@kenik2023
Like our current government Stellantis is making you conform. How's it working for both?
Dude! LOL. Youre more informed than me!
@@RipRoaringGarage Boy. I'm just tired of all the BS. Auto and government.😞

The new "Charger" EV weighs over 5800# - about the same weight as a 2500/3500 truck...
The same as a Jeep Wagoneer!
Or just a standard full size truck. Why does everyone always embellish the truth?
Who’s embellished, check Wagoneer curb weight….
OP did when he brought up 10,000 lb vehicles. You know what else is heavier? Tons of other cars such as the Porsche Panamera and the model x.@@Thurmanatr16
Love your channel, I'll miss the Hemi rumble! Im keeping my '18 RT forever
Car is damn near eligible for irs code 179😭😭
You can't escape the weight with the kind of battery tech we have currently. It's the electrolyte that makes them so damn heavy. EVs will not be very viable until we get solid-state batteries that can keep the same power capacity while not weighing as much.
Dodge had a good thing going, all they needed to do was to give some TLC to their current lineup and powertrains. However, they couldn't help themselves, they had to f#ck it all up. 😢
Blame the EPA
@planefan5812 better yet blame biden
This falls more on Stellantis than anything else. The 3.0 I6 is based on the 2.0 I4 Hurricane engine which is able to keep up with and outperform the Pentastar. It's basically the Pentastar's replacement, and since it was already compliant with emissions, used in many of the Jeeps + the rest of the Stellantis vehicles, and is relatively easy to turn into a 6 cylinder they invested in making it instead of modernizing the Hemi or turning the Pentastar into a V8. The I4 and I6 can both be made on the same product line, and as a bonus if they actually do pull the trigger on the Pentastar they can kill the US jobs behind them and have everything be made for cheap in Mexico. It's all about the $$$$$$$$.
I blame FJB and the EPA. I believe in placing blame where it belongs.
I've seen the Tesla people sitting in parking lots changing their overweight electric blenders when I'm out shopping. I can't imagine wasting 1-2 hours a week just sitting in the corner of some random parking lot, waiting to get my turn to charge. EV'S only work for people that have their own private garage and fast charger. For those who own EV'S and have to go searching for a working charger every week, it looks like a crappy life to me.
You are so close to 70,000 subscribers!!! Congratulations in advance.
They crap out at 130 because they don't want you to keep out running the police when getting pulled over.
Maybe people shouldn't do something illegal that would make them wanna run from the police.. i dunno
These will have remote shut down ability so that won’t be an issue…
Tire ply.
The elephant lol EPIC lol
Great video and thanks for the info
Glad I was a certified tech in my young years then self employed and know how to repair and rebuild engines etc....I will keep my modern Hemi cars and my 60's and 70's Chrysler,Dodge,Plymouth and RAM forever!
RAM still has the 6.4 HEMI in the 2500 etc for 2025 so my new truck will be a 2500 and thats it..I wonder how long the 1500 classic will be around it still has the HEMI,be interesting to see might be a V8 Mopar guys only new ride..No not brutally quick like my Challenger SRT but nonetheless,oh well..
Not interested in electric not even a after thought...The 6 cyl Charger NOPE!!! Challenger is a killer looking car and has all the performance I need...
It's not just range, it's battery degradation. Look up MGUY Australia on how many things effect battery degradation not the least of which is hard acceleration. Who wants a muscle car that you have to drive like a grandma to keep from damaging your expensive EV battery.
And watch out for road hazards and pot holes, if you debt or puncture the bottom of the car, it’s a huge repair bill.
@@Thurmanatr16 Check out any number of videos that show a Tesla that hit something on the road, damaged the battery casing and an hour later IN A PARKING GARAGE it spontaneously combusted, taking out three other cars.
It doesn’t matter how much they weigh or the pricing I just do not see a lot of people lining up to buy these cars coming from where they came from 6.4 ,6.2
I don’t see how the ICE version will somehow lose 1800 pounds. I can see it being heavier than the current gen sadly
Its easy, take out the Lithium Batteries that are heavier than the engine itself
The awd sure doesn’t help with weight either.
It’s larger than the current car, and significantly larger than the Challenger length. If Mustang GT is 18 inches shorter and almost 3,900 pounds, these are definitely going into the 4000s.
@@michaelthomas5140correct, it’s usually 200 pounds or so just for awd over base.
😆 funny rant man
Great stuff 👏 luv my gas guzzling Challenger Scatpack
Been driving a 2022 Challenger R/T Auto, with the Blacktop pkg and Sunroof in Frostbite as my rental all over Tampa Bay this week and having a blast ! 😊👍 Fast enough and even more fun 🤩
Great video man! Dodge what are you doing sheesh!!!
Great video Brad!! Just wait until parking garages collapse due to the extra weight.
Software upgrades ( for a fee or subscription service) for higher speed (Turn off the limiter). $$$$$$$
If you're going to get an electric Dodge lease it don't buy it because the resale is going to severely bite you in the ass.
No manual transmissions in the next gen ICE Charger?!
Nope, not offered at all.
Timmy K needs to get canned!!
It's Stellantis calling the shots...Tim is a real Mopar guy he owns classic Mopar cars etc...Stellantis killed Dodge/Chrysler and RAM with the 6 cyl and electric junk coming!
Believe me. Tim is a car guy. He doesn't like this any more than we do. I'm pretty sure he'd rather have the Hemi sticking around. Tim is doing the best he can with papa Stellantis hovering over his shoulder.
@SovereignKnight74 all I know is...all those negative comments must be killin' kuniskis!
If it had a good range I would buy it for $25k ! But knowing these idiots...they will be asking $150k 😂
The guy is working for the French and is in charge of shutting down a once great company. It's just sad.
What does the gas version weigh?
Likely 4200-4400 pounds based on the fact it’s larger than current Charger and challenger plus AWD. For compare, Mustang GT that is 18 inches shorter weighs 3,853.
Quick math. 5800 lbs. Tesla battery in Model S (100kwh - same as the Charger) is 1200 lb. So 5800 - 1200 = 4600 lb. Then you subtract the two motors as well. But then you have to add back the hurricane engine and transmission.. Not sure if it will end up any lighter than a current Challenger Hellcat of 4400 lb
Let’s hope they sell these current ones we got now for pennies when they drop the new ones.
Imagine a 6000lb ev wrecking into a 3000lb Civic or corolla. Those small cars will suffer greater damage.
For sure! There are tons of wrecked hellcats at scrap auction now, wait till these start hitting trees and guard rails…
Are we going to act like now we care? Imagine a truck hitting a Civic or Corolla. It happens all the time, stop clutching your pearls.
Yooo I never thought about tires on ev. Wooow now I think about it yea you right and you have to buy top of the line to.
Not true at all
OC, the considerable weight was one of the reasons why the Mustang MACH E didn’t sell well, along with changing issues.
Hey Brad, those numbers don’t add up. 650HP and 137MPH somethings wrong, either it has a speed limiter on it or it’s geared really badly. 5800 pounds plus you sitting in it that’s 6000 pounds, can you imagine cornering a 6000 pound car..jees Louie’s
There are no gears lol. Also my 5,000 lb Audi handles like a dream compared to my Widebody Scat. The added weight makes the car hug the road much better.
Can't wait to see when someone does the first Banshee conversation to a Heliphant engine 😊
For people saying dodge cars have always been heavy and this is a non issue, it’s a safety issue. Look up national highway and safety footage showing a Rivian going through guardrails and MULTIPLE concrete barriers due to the insane weight.
Bingo!
💯CORRECT!!!
These new cars are not being made for the actual Dodge customer. Stellantis is making them for the customer they want to create. They want to attract a safe, woke, boring person. But sorry Charlie..that ain't a Mopar.
UTG Uncle Tony’s Garage addressed the issue with the Inline 6 engines wearing out trying to move a heavy car. These engine will self destruct and not worth purchasing used.
Range matters to buyers..range anxiety for EV owners is a real thing.
Dodge saying they don't care about range is just dumb and these cars will not move imo...
My 1994 Dodge Stealth RT did 150mph!
thanks for giving a non insider response, and hyping up this trash..... I put out a video right after the release on my channel tell this same truth. Respect
At 3 tons, you are going to have to pay attention to the bridge weight limits before crossing
Excellent point
They really could have just invested all that time and money into some super solid v6 turbo engines. And made an electric neon if they just really had to check the box.
All the pentastar is is a copy of Ferraris V6 without the turbochargers.
I mean...just put them back on and boost it to HC numbers...
The sound you worried about? Have you HEARD a Gulia???
🤣🤣 "We gotta stop this brick"
Model S Plaid owner here. Honestly, it doesn’t eat tires any more than my previous z06, Camaro, etc. especially if driving as intended.
I was really hoping Dodge would drop an electric Plaid killer but it honestly looks like they’re miles behind Tesla.
So...
You want me to believe you have a Z06, a ZL1 and a Plaid...
Something ain't sounding right bruh...
@@kenik2023 also a previous 991 Carrera but that actually wasn’t too bad on tires. Why is that hard to believe? I’ve been into cars my entire adult life.
They can't fathom that the Charger or Challenger is not the greatest car ever. Plenty of car ppl have crossed over to EV's. Speed is Speed after all. Good point on the tires too, it just doesn't fit the narrative.@@stepheno.2730
All wearable items will last longer if “driven as intended” aka easily, slowly and carefully. These will be at track days, racing up highways, stop lights, and god forbid, on ramps at high speed..
@@Thurmanatr16 exactly what I had attempted to communicate above…essentially all of my performance cars have gone through the tires…I sure didn’t buy any of the above to putt around town.
The published range I understand is mentioned with an asterisk. But using the published range even for reference is deceiving because now of the EVs hit their claimed range.
I agree with you. I drive a 2021 Challenger and I love the car. I will NEVER buy an EV car.
Totally off topic but I'm really curious, is there a reason you (and most other reactors) film your content with your car's engine running???
"Okay you take your Brand New 2024 Charger to the Drag Strip, 50m from your home. Now you're at 250, you run 3 runs now your at 100m. You say what the Hell, 2 more Runs. Now you're at 50m or less, hoping you can get home. Because most don't, if any Drag Strips have Charging Stations (if they are working). So, good luck with that..."
You just described what happened to a local plaid owner when he challenged a hellcat, a mustang GT and a ZL1 to race at a local strip here in NC.
After 3 runs he started getting slower and getting gapped by all 3 cars .... then he didn't have enough charge to make it home. They had to call a tow truck cause they couldn't bring him a can of electricity😂
@@kenik2023 It's amazing that Dodge has not thought of that. This thing is about to get Super Interesting...
For comparison, the Cadillac Escalade 6.2 V8 4WD weighs "only" 5820 lbs.
Wagoneer too!
I possibly see a road repair tax coming for EV owners like a gas guzzler tax is for muscle car owners. Trust me, with our government it's not out of the realm of possibility. Smh
And that massive battery gotta be killing the environment worse than any Hellcat😂
Definitely, then throw In all the brakes and tires these will eat through.
You are insane if you think a rechargeable battery is doing more damage than a hellcat.
@@cblue3581 what is that battery made of genius? How do think it is recharged R e t a r d? Electricity just magically appears right? Oh yeah I forgot those charging stations are powered by fairy self righteous dust. Stupid me.
I would recommend you actually look into the comparison of environmental impact from production through ownership, you might be surprised. The crazy thing is I had a Widebody Scat and loved it. I'm not an environmentalist what I care about it ppl just making stuff up. Maybe try providing information instead of losing control. I can provide sources all day long and I'd guess you've never looked past a youtube video based on opinion.@@fulcrumsee5968
Don't argue with low iq
Dodge sales were awful for 2023, but they ain't seen nothing yet. CRASH!!!
They don't want anyone outrunning the cops anymore 😂
I can see a scenario in a few years where charging stations are everywhere, but vacant because nobody drives EV's anymore.
....and who is building them right now to proliferate them in say 2035?
They better start now.😂
The only way dodge sells the ev version is if they price them aggressively. It must be cheaper than the competitors. But when has dodge ever done that lol
The 2 door Dodge Chargers are awesome, I want one!
Great video. First thought as well when I read about the weight of this new Charger. It's going to EAT tires alive! Sadly, the Dodge days are numbered
*Using sign language here…^^*
One thing I was wondering… What charger network will Dodge be using for its electric cars? Will it go the Ford route and use the Tesla Network, or perhaps build its own proprietary network, using the Direct Connection monicker itself, where you can only charge outside from your home at these specific dealers?
i do love technology, but I will not be able to travel with said new electric dodges outside of 250 mile range from my home, unless a Direct Connection dealer has a charger available, without a line of other dodge cars waiting for their chance to fill up.
IF Dodge does the Tesla connector route like the MachE, then I MIGHT consider it. But before anything is set in stone, Sorry Dodge, I’ll just be happy in purchasing a used Charger on sale here in town. (There’s a 2007 Charger Daytona in Purple here in York, Pa on sale for $8,999 here…^^)
At this point they’re gonna be as heavy as a house. Might renovate the interior into a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Not to mention these things WILL be deadly on the street. Imagine someone going over 100 mph in this thing and god forbid somebody gets hit or a pedestrian. They will not survive. As soon as you see this brick heading your way, you’ll be seeing your life flashing before your eyes because there’s no way in hell anyone in a regular sized car is going to survive against this monstrosity. It’ll be like getting hit by a semi truck. The demographic of dodge owners already have a bad reputation of accidents and people with bad driving records. This car will even further the problem and make this car very deadly on the street
i have a 383 dart with 3.55 gears and a 727 i took it to a mile long drag and hit its top speed of just over 125 mph. The top speed doesn't effect me for normal driving on the highway. so i think 137 is ok for a street car.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍 great information

In my worst nightmare, i never saw Buick out living Dodge , hemi, mopar vehicles.
An EV would be totally AWESOME! 😃
Providing that you have a long enough extension cord. 😂

Finding out that technically a 3.5l sxt from 2006-2010 could catch a 2024 RT in a long chase is funny as hell.
EV ties are extremely expensive. My nephew has a Tesla and his tires cost more than the 305 Nitto RII I put on my Hellcats.
Gonna see some pretty nasty car accidents coming when all these cars on the road are 5-6000lbs or more
0-60 in 3 sec…. 6000 lbs…. Gonna dethrone the mustang for the new crowd killer. People are gonna get hurt!
Dodge is too antiquated for EVs. Can you imagine the mechanical issues these cars are going to be?? The story will be HOW much are they going to reduce the price of these Hellcats sitting on these lots to make room for these new EVs that WONT sale.
Give it a few years. You will see a crazy HP Hurricane motor I bet. I dont give a crap about the EV stuff. The inline 6 will get bigger and bigger. Mark my words. LOl
And yes I would assume the ICE motor version will weigh pretty close to the old GEn. cars.
all trash even the fart can hurricane
*Continues using sign language here… ^^*
Now one point I would like to bring up…
I am a fan of Dodges, was raised around them. i owned a 318 Scamp and a Dodge Shadow V6 ES in the 90s, my dad owned a 1966 Dodge Charger 426 Hemi in 1968 he used as a Police Car in our town.
i can see why Dodge designed the new Hurricane engine 6. Look at the 225 Slant 6 from the 1960s-1980s… That was one of the most reliable engines ever built by ANYONE. I had a friend that had a 1971 Dart back in the late 1980s that had a 1971 Dart with the 225 I6 in it and was nearly at 480,000 miles. Sure, the body was rusted in spots, but you couldn’t kill that car or the engine.
If Dodge had released a new version of that 225 I6, Id be all over that, BUT the troubling thing is the turbocharging and forced induction… I think that would remove all and any long term reliability of that amazing engine.
I’m not certain how well Ford’s EcoBoost v6s are fairing reliability-wise, but let me know if they had hit 250, 450, or even 500,000 miles without failure.
And then add on top of all that, it is going to be a hybrid? Best or worst of both worlds maybe?
i just talked to a Jeep 4xE owner yesterday and she said she loves it, but she purchased it after Dodge had offered a $7,000 cash rebate for her after she purchased it. That I believe is a 4 Cylinder Hybrid, like the Chevy Volt Hybrid (which Chevy should have NEVER Killed… it’s a great car for hybrid’s case… ^^
Excellent Content OC Motivator… new subscriber as well…

I am so uninterested in this car that I can't watch the video, but had to leave a comment..
boat anchors
Here in New Jersey
There’s a gas tax that goes to repair roads
If we go electric
Who’s going to pay to fix the roads of these 5500 lbs electric challengers and others?
Think about when the car crashes into anything. Also the battery doesn't lie. 😅😅😅
With you Brad on thought of how much these EVs weigh and how the dodge will weigh 58** lbs. 2 things; wonder what it's going to be like getting hit by one of these cars in my 3,500 pound car and in NY if a pick up truck weighs I believe more than 5,500 pounds it needs to be registered as commercial. Commercial can't go on the parkways here and they need those heavy vehicles to stay on the expressways. How are these heavy vehicles getting a pass 🤔
The 6-pack is the same motor that's in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, so it's nothing new. Do your research people.
And Grand Cherokee as well as 2025 Ram 1500. It’s just a one size fits all, corporate platform.
Ok, so it's a dodge cement mixer. Haha
Almost 2.5 tons. Yikes!!
