'Most dudes from WI are down to earth guys, who love beer'. As a Wisconsite myself, I appreciate that statement.
As a Michigander I think we have much in common!!
Amen
@@charlie21gunner87 I consider MI, and MN our sister states, we have more in common than any other.
As someone who was born and still lives in the heart of Driftless Wisconsin I agree
@@MeanLaQueefa if Wis could just get rid of Madison, Mich Detroit and Minnesota Minneapolis the states would be perfect
“They are all out hunting ....cloaca “ I lost it 🤣 ,
That cloaca interaction was hilarious. Rinella seems like a hell of a fun guy to hunt with.
lol yeah it was!
that second bird made me actually laugh out loud. Fantastic hunting!
ME TOO! it was really funny me and my bro rewatched it 5 times
Thanks MeatEater it’s like Christmas ever day you post episodes I haven’t seen before.
I couldn’t agree more
Yep lol
Totally
Feel the same!
Me: Hears " Hunting Cloaca".
Me: Shaking my head. Now that is funny.
My mom lets out a shock gobble if you finish the crossword puzzle then slip it back in the newspaper.

Season 9 part 2 was great!! MeatEater is hands down the Best hunting/fishing/cooking outdoorsman show. None even come close to how great this show is.
I have one major gripe with it. I watched it all in one sitting so I'm back to waiting for episodes again, lol
@@crangs8142 haha yah I did the exact same, wish the season had like 15-20 episodes minimum.
Yes not enough episodes. Not even close. Definitely left everyone wanting more. But you shouldn't be able to watch it in one sitting.
"How satisfied are you with this recommendation" very satisfied
14:37 I jumped so bad even though I was expecting that lmao.
run that scene on .25 speed haha
The camera guy jumped too :))
Same lol
0:16 Steve's face in the intro when he says "...and plenty of rain." made my day
Typical Wisconsin spring.
"Wow, bone impregnated carp fillets? Thanks Steve!"
My dad was a commercial fisherman in the LaCrosse area. Bill Netzer. No one knew more about the area than he did. I see that Buffalo and smile. He caught some biggies
Lmao.. I'm front NE Iowa and my Mom always told us the same thing.. " Don't you boys go across that river.. them folks over there wien their kids on Leinenkugel."
By far the best adult drink you can get!
I'm going turkey hunting for the first time this Spring! Can't wait. No idea what I'm doing but I'm going to try to get at least one Gobbler.
That first gobble will have you addicted.
I wish you the best of luck!
Just saw your Wisconsin turkey / carp hunt. Fyi you need to grind that fish. One way we like boney fish is ground sucker patties. Grind sucker ( no worry w bones then) with onion, egg, saltines. Fry, put on a bun with salad dressing or mayo. :)
My wife likes to make pesto out of the ramps. You can use the whole plant - leaves and the bulb. And believe me, it is delicious.
I love watching your videos when you’re in Wisconsin, because I live in Wisconsin.
Same
Unlucky
@@chillwinston4216 what do you mean?
From La Crosse! Love when he’s in my neck of the woods
in the words of any good wisconsineise person, tell your mom i ses hi
This cold makes that cold look nice and cozy warm
"Save the neck for me Clark"
I think, "It just takes one" must be the natural motto of hunters.
Gotta grind the carp up and make fish cakes and then throw it out or feed to the garden.
Steve, thank you for doing what you do. I watch your show with my 9 year old daughter, who just started coming out with me on goose/duck hunting outings. I think I have her hooked! But, from your perspective and insight on hunting and why we hunt, I can see she is really getting a deeper understanding of what we do. She is seeing the connection with nature, and balance, as well as comradely and how important it is. I appreciate you helping a lot of us to pass on the outdoors to the next generation. Again, thank you!

This was five years ago. People change
Man, there’s nothing more exciting than a old tom that’s right there and he hangs beside a brush or tree and just stands. My daddy was a wonderful turkey hunter from the west side of Alabama in a little town called Silas. He never missed his bird he was after. He loved the thrill of a turkey hunt. I’m the same way. I killed my first with a 410 when I was seven. I was so freaking out at that age. Don’t know if you ever heard Rodger Ben Lee from coffeeville Alabama but when he was young my daddy taught him how to hunt and next we knew he had his own turkey hunting show. He never told anyone that I know of that my daddy taught him how to hunt. Rodgers daddy knew because my dad and Big Ben Lee was hunting and fishing friends. Rodger claimed that her learned everything on his own. He’s passed now for years but I talked to his son and when he found out that I was JR,s son he never talked to me again. I’m guessing he’s been confronted about my daddy teaching his dad to hunt. But I love watching your shows especially on turkey’s. Nothing like a big gobble right in front of you early in the morning just as they fly down. I’ve roasted turkeys a few times in my 64 year life and it’s exciting to be under their roosting tree before daylight. If you don’t bump them off their limbs before fly down. Having a tom walk a limb and strutting and gobbling every five seconds above your head gets your blood pumping. You should give that a try. I’d go out the evening before and follow the tom and his hens to roost then I’d back out and be back a couple hours before daylight so I could slowly and quitely slip in. Most was still there the next morning but I have come back to totally have them gone and not see them again for days. Who knows what bumped them during the night. Have fun, hey , kill a big tom for me. Season starts here in north eastern Georgia the middle of March and goes to the middle of may. I’m getting ready to go when it opens, lord’s willing the way my health is. Sorry for keeping you so long. Like talking turkey. Be safe, now go put some meat on the table.
Turkey season starts in April in Oklahoma can’t wait
April 25th here in ontario Canada. Also my birthday the wife always has to let me go out lol
April 28 in Wisconsin
Never. South Africa 😆
Can’t wait for turkey season, like in the same state but I’ve got to travel a ways to get to a good population of turkey
We will all be dead before April. World is over
I had a buddy that would net carp and put them in his bath tub for a week changing the water out everyday to get the muddy taste out of them. He also said that there is a something you have to cut out of the carp to stop it from tasting bad. I wish I could remember what he said it was.
I went to MO turkey hunting one year. We ended up going with some friends to a fry in the little town and they had 55 gallon drums cut in half and burning hot. They had fried squirrel, fried turkey, and fried catfish. Along with the fixings, I was in heaven and fat as a hog. Great people and new friends were made and the kinds of friends that you can only make in the hunting/fishing world.
The Driftless is good for three things, beautiful views, good hunting, and close calls with sasquatch
Glad to see him enjoying a New Glaris, Spotted Cow. That beer is one of the best things about wisconsin and the best beer I’ve ever had in the states by far
I'll keep an eye out for it next time i'm up in the midwest!
Steve is such a down to earth dude I would love to spend a weekend fishing or hunting with him anytime
I live in the Driftless! Turkeys, ramps and walleyes on the Wisconsin are just around the corner!
Turkey hunting, fellowship, and food amen! Nothing like turkey hunting. Thank you.
You have to deep fry the carps on a disk lots of oil so the bones are fried super crispy then you can just eat the bones and the carp. Learned this in mexico
Allow me to share my grandfather’s carp recipe.
Soak an oak plank in wood for 3 hours.
Prepare carp and place on top with slices of lemon.
Bake until done.
Remove from oven.
Discard the carp.
Haven't heard that one before. (Sarcasm)
Carp is a really tasty fish. Sucker is even better. Like all wild game, you just have to clean and cook it right.
People have been farming and enjoying carp for thousands of years lol just because you can't cook doesn't mean it isn't good
That’s hilarious! Don’t worry about the comments from people who can’t take a joke... ^
@@randommexican5664 No need to cook carp when you live in an area with good fish :)
@@dave131 yeah, and we have seen how well walleye and other game fish were/are managed by midwesterners lol
the " most guys from wis. are good dudes n like to deink beer" comment is spot on. a fellow sconnie boy living in driftless area i agree and resemble that remark. CHEERS all!
You talk about hunting turkey like your relationship with the wife lol 😇❤️🥰 any minute now haha
That gobblers head had to have been destroyed at that distance. It didn’t even look like it flopped around afterwards like they often do.
Play the second turkey shot in .25 speed. Looks epic!
14:20 Turkeys walking is hilarious to me. I don’t know why. Also, it looked like he took its head off.
my favorite episode so far. probably my biased because I live in Wisconsin.
Chasing turkeys is an absolute blast, bow fishing for carp looks like a sweet experience! Great episode!
Damn what is about turkey hunting that gets the adrenaline going so much? It's basically an extreme sport.
I gave up on turkey 😂, I'm cursed. Twelve years, spring and fall, never a single bird. Every kind of failure you could imagine.
Stalking animals is just fun. It's a true life and death battle, your wits against theirs. And they taste good.
@@FluffyBuzzard2TheMax Tennessee and there's a good dozen wild turkeys walking through my yard.
@@FluffyBuzzard2TheMax oh it's not the competition, I'm just cursed, public and private land. The first time I went after turkeys bow string snapped, second time my shotgun broke a firing pin, third time I got chased by a mad bull, fifth time was yellow jackets, I learned my lesson. My family roasts backstrap for Thanksgiving.
@@FluffyBuzzard2TheMax if you can hunt them, good luck to you, but I have a phobia of turkeys these days.
You American are very lucky for having this beautiful bird in wild 👍
I can't wait for spring turkey in Wisconsin. I got the draw for zone 2 A starts April 21st 2021
Bubbie had a recipe for carp.
Pre heat oven to 450
Clean carp
Select pine board
Season pine board
Nail carp to board
Cook till carp is done
Scrape carp off
Eat pine board
When I was young I found turkey to be the most frustrating animal to hunt
If I catch a Carp on the Milwaukee I just throw them for critters to eat in the woods.
Awesome. Had my first daughter 11 months ago and can't wait to do this with her. You seem like a great coach!
I jumped out of my chair when I saw Steven drinking a spotted cow. Don’t know why, but that really made me excited.
Born and raised in the driftless area of Wisconsin and I am loving every minute of it.
I wonder how long Steve's been waiting to use the word "cloaca" in a sentence.
Started and finished part 2 of season 9 of meat eaters last night, back to the older youtube videos we go
Haha same! They're such short seasons
As a carp fisherman in the Netherlands this is really strange to see haha we Never never eat carp over here haha
“It’s like a little mini romance you know what I mean?”
Ahh yes brother I do cheers!!
I like the video before I've watched because I already know it's gonna be another GOAT episode. I love Meat Eater!
Him talking about ramps and the meal. My god this man is number one
I love ramps! But I only take maybe 3 or 4 bulbs out of smaller patches and a leaf of each on up to what ever I need. Trying to keep them growing because I heard it can take up to 7 years but generally 3 for them to go to seed. Bulbs are best part but leaves are still awesome!
Love the ending words! Thanks Steve!
This show is amazing. The hunting, fishing and sentiment all combined by a truly decent guy.
Wish I had a camera on me so you could see my reaction to when he got the turkey at the 14:41 mark. I'm like WOOOOO! YEAH BUDDY!!! {clapping and laughing} all the while, my adult son is looking at me like I'm medusa or something LOL
Turkey hunting in Wisconsin is legit! I love it so much!
Up here in the Pacific Northwest..Turkey season is usually wet or freezing, and if your lucky you just might get a beautiful sunny day, but not normally.
Though my best hunt ever (so far), was when I was able to call in a lone Tom over a hundred yards out, and then turn him 180 to get him into range...with No decoys. Took over an hour of gentle calling.
I’ve seen all these episodes before but they never get old. Steve is THE MAN. Never stop making these!!
This is one of those episodes that just make you feel at HOME!❤
You really make a person want to go turkey hunting! Something I’ve never done but always wanted to!
As far as the Buffalo fishing, ehh.
I’ll take salmon or cutthroats any day.
Love this episode man, what a wonderful state, people, and adventure.
I miss hunting in that area. We used to deer hunt about 20 minutes southwest of Hillsboro, and that was prime hunting land. By the end of the season, we always had about 4-6 deer between 4 people.
I don’t know anyone who hunts turkeys without Decoys! In fact, I have a couple of Taxidermied Decoys, a hen & a Jake, and they work great.
Simple....I've seen everything you have posted.....from wild within to every meat eater show and every conference you done and I love it all!!! Thank you just keep doing what you do!!! 🙂
My first ever turkey hunt this year out that way with a friend. Got mine my first day, buddy got his first double beard next day and his brother scored as well. I'm hooked, no doubt! Beautiful country all around. We saw about a dozen elk in a field on our way to an amazing Friday night fish fry. Just love my state, and seeing new areas, now I'm in to hunt there too, with my son coming for fall bow deer. Ramps are delicious too, my boys and I love them!!
Amazing work man. Bringing more people back to the wild like old hunting shows I watched as a kid but better
Dang that 2nd turkey was close, awesome hunt 🤘
Bacon rapped deer steak an catfish. That surf an turf for me
thats not surf n turff thats lake n bake lol jk after i spend 800$ each trip to go fishing for tunas, marlin, halibut, yt and lobsters i needed to eat them and not looked back haha i just buy my catfish haha 🤪🤷🏻♂️
@@sand2sea I shoot my deer an catch my catfish. Surf an turf it is. Store bought farm raised fish of any kind taste funky to me.
Steven is badass because he's a game chef and knows his wild shit. I mean...who's done that? Steven, that's who.
Simple is always the most rewarding. Not easy. But pure joy to savior.
what I love from a gud hunt when you go over it and laugh about it
Takes seven years for ramps to mature. If you're lucky enough to find them, cutting off the tops without taking the bulb will ensure a great patch next year too.
That 2nd bird got absolutely blasted
Great video! Your videos have been an inspiration to me. I did a 4 day turkey hunt and was able to flop my first gobbler. Now I am trying to get 2 friends their first. Thanknyou and keep doing what you do.
I can watch this show all day every day, makes me wanna get into hunting bad, also I’m from Wisconsin, great state
Second part of season 9 is awesome guys! Thanks!
"Through the heavens comes a gobbler. GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE"
Amazing footage with the close encounter of the gobbler kind. Fantastic!
That was F'N awesome! I don't think I would have been able to contain my excitement having a gobbler that close to me! Great video!
Hey Steve!
I live in Brooklyn greenpoint , white tail hunter here , any chance you could give us guys on this side of the US some relating hunting films?
I love the mid west but come on, would like to see a little north east cost deer hunting.
Steve used to live in NYC. I'm curious where he went hunting out there, Jersey?
Not sure, probably upstate NY
But I think he always went away to hunt.
I just don’t think he is a white tail hunter.
Super stoked for more MeatEater!
That 2nd bird harvest was awesome, how close he was. Great video!
Thanks so much for adding this to youtube!
We need a real Wisconsin episode where you guys tell your wives you're "ice fishing" but just drink beer and watch tip ups
Love your content. Wish you would have shown more of the first nights carp hunt. Shooting fish at night with a bow is just cool!
I have ramps growing in my small chunk of woods, love em
Amazing I'm so happy you keep posting these
Buffalo carp takes a long time to get big and are usually confused with the common carp. If you can leave them alone.
“Hammered by something besides a dude” hahahaha!!!
I had a tom walk by me like that. It was my biggest bird to date. Talk about a heart pounding experience haha
Awesome that you guys uploaded these. Thanks
Tip with carp that the old Italians tell around here is you soak the nuggets in salted water for 12 hours before cooking.
We have turkeys roaming a local golf course near me. They walk right up to you in the parking lot.
Hi Steve I have to tell you for years I got away from hunting but after watching your videos you inspired me to get right back out there thank you for that I enjoy hunting squirrel and rabbit as much as I do whitetail have a great day
I've called many birds over the years and only a handful of times have I been within 5 yards of a hen or tom congrats really cool turkey hunts
Thanks for giving us another half-season!
