I bought a 98” QM7 a couple of weeks ago for $2299 and thought was a good deal from Best Buy. They knocked off another $300 the following week and BB price matched it. A 98” mid tier mini LED for $2k? I call that a smokin’ deal.
If you bought your QM7 less than a month ago, and it went down price, you can get a price correction from Best Buy, and they'll give you that extra $300 back.
Recently upgraded to an 86" from a 65". I learned that it is physically impossible getting in any larger than 86" into my apartment up the stairs lol. Im very pleased with it. Gaming from 7 inch is so cool!
Funny , just upgraded from a non flagship 2016 Samsung 65 inch to a 2024 Sony 85 inch Bravia 9, I think the shock factor calmed down a bit, is huge don’t get me wrong but I agree you get used to it lol … Yeah my upgrade cycles are long that’s why I buy the flagship if I can and the Bravia 9 feels like a huge upgrade after years of small improvements, specially in brightness
I upgraded from an LG OLED 65B7P with 2 screens that burned in to a Sony Bravia B9 75-inch in my. bedroom and I will never go back to oled or a small tv 😂
I think I have you beat on the long upgrade cycles.. Still have my 32" 720P Toshiba I got about 20 years ago as my main TV. It sits about 4 feet from me so the size isn't really a problem. Plus I end up doing most of my watching on my computer monitor (currently a 34 inch ultra wide.) But the current prices and features are making me think about upgrading.
Caleb, just a shout out to you and say thank you for your reviews and thoughts on tvs over the past two years. With your, Fomo and Brian's content I ended up with a 98" UX, so I will catch up with you again in a few years (so I don't get Fomo but I'll be watching your other content). Best of luck to you!

Just waiting on my Hisense 85U8N to be delivered tomorrow. Upgrading from a Vizio E65-E1(2016). I wanted to make sure I got something that I will be okay with for a while, but didn't break the bank that much.
Considering I'm upgrading from a 12YO, 65" 1080p Vizio (also a black Friday deal), anything will be amazing. We truly are living in the 'Barney Stinson TV wall' age.
Yea I upgraded my parents 55' inch Vizio 1080p TV to the Hisense Qd7 75 inch 4k 144hz and they loved it. Next year I'll get them the 98 inch for their main room
Yes thats a mind blowing question of myself, will it last for 5 years without pictures quality issues, I am seeing some TVs specially Sony 9OK model Qled 70 in the stores in Canada colors are kind of washed off with brightness after one year or 18 months they keep running pretty much for 24 hours or less 🙆
I almost bought an 83" LG G4 to replace my 2011 70" Sharp LCD set. I canceled the deal because I decided I didn't need to spend $6L (with $400 wall mount) for just an improved picture. The thing that tipped me toward the cancellation was the fact that I'd have to create an account with LG to fully utilize it.
I just bought the B7 85inch...its stellar!! I really wanted the x90L ..it looks good and a great price. But I read a number of posts about cracked screens. Btw..Upgraded from a 12 year old 60 inch Samsung plasma that still looks AMAZING!!
I currently have a 85" Sony Z9K, 75" Z8H and a 65" X77L. I did consider getting a 98" X90L before the 85" Z9K but just thinking about moving a 98" around my house is crazy. I think I might consider UST projectors if I go bigger next 😅
Yeah, once you are used to a 85 inch or bigger a 75-inch tv actually look kinda small. Lol 😆 never thought a 75-inch would look small to me. 85 inch is becoming the new normal for a lot of living rooms. It depends on the size room though a 75 looks huge in a small living room. I have a 100-inch tv, and it doesn't even look that huge to me, but my living room is large for a 1600sq ft house. 20x16, we sit 13 feet away from the tv. So a 130-inch would be the most emmersive. But I would have to rearrange my living room and sit length wise like 20 feet away from the tv then, and it would look small from that far back still. 130 is about as large as my living room walls could handle. My 100-inch maxes out a wall between the living room and kitchen, though. The wall is 89 inches wide, and the tv is 88 inches lol 😆
@@jamesloehr641talk about to a gnat’s ass… 😂 you must have the extendable mount… I just bought the 100” U8k miniLED. I did not think the picture was phenomenal until I saw it… at that size - I have about 1 foot to spare on the viewing distance.
@@bingram2011i have it on a fixed mount. Rated for 264lbs its lug bolted with 6 bolts to a 12x48 inch piece of 3/4 inch plywood that's lug bolted with 6 bolts to 3 studs. I hung it myself and its perfectly level and centered. But the mount does slide a little side to side, if it was off a tiny bit. Its about 30 inches from the ground. I had to hang it a bit higher because of the dogs, they have some leathal tail wacking that could crack screens lol 😆 I thought about getting the u8n but I thought the u76n was a good deal for the price. I can always upgrade later to the u8n and it may get even cheaper in a few years when they start comming out with 130 inch tvs. Although I didn't know they had the tcl qm7 for 2k recently which has to be the best deal for a close to 100 inch tv out there. It is 2 inches smaller, but it's also a mini led with 1500 dimming zones and 2400 nits brightness. So it has to be the best deal out there. I didn't know the u76n wasn't mini led when I bought it. Just 256 dimming zones. I thought it was the same as the u7 mini led. So feel kinda mislead by the name. Its still a good value though and picture quality is still very good.
@@bingram2011i feel like hisense does some misleading advertising. U76n not being anything like the u7n it makes sit seam like it would actually be a model between the u7 and u8. Also i never got my free copy of nba2k 25 lol thry kept fenying my reciet and now it says out of stock on both versions when inclicked on the rewards link. How could a digital copy be out of stock ? Lol 😆 scam. They should have had enough copies for every tv sold with that advertisement.
I don't know about the 98" version, but there is an 85" version of the Q6 series (the Q68) which does have full array local dimming. I've only seen it on Amazon though.
Something to keep in mind is viewing distance from the screen. I moved up from a 60” Panasonic plasma tv that we were viewing from 10’ away to a Hisense U8N at 75” as our new space is 15’ away. I thought I was getting a big screen but I’m now wondering if I should have gone with 85”.

Picked up the 98” TCL QM7 and thought it was the best bang for my buck. The money I saved went towards a Sonos theater package. Really happy with the picture and sound.
Hisense 98UX specs on paper beat the competition.. More nits, dimming zones, IPS-ADS panel with wider viewing angels, etc... Priced smack in the middle of the TCL QM851G and Sony X90L the 98UX would appear to have the superior edge.
Missed out on the TCL 98” QM7! 😢 I couldn’t convince the Mrs. in time. And Caleb, it has 2400 nits of brightness 😉 and 1500 local dimming zones. I am watching Best Buy’s website like a hawk!
Because In business school , 😮business professor :” SONY makes their flagship to promote low end . They do not make money but lose money by selling a few Flagship so they want ppl buy low end with high price even tho being seen as high end . So ppl in 3 yrs went upgrade again n again .”
Upgraded all my TVs this year and the top dog is 77”, which was always my plan. And now it’s not even considered terribly large (yes, yes, I know, it's pointless to compare, right TV for the right space, etc etc). I do wonder if the TCL QM7 is better with corner vignetting, I have a Q7 and it feels like it's not BAD, but it is noticeable in bright full screen scenes. Doesn't occur during most movies due to aspect ratios, thankfully.
We purchased the 98" TCL QM851G a week before Thanksgiving for an astounding $3,999 vs $5,999 regular price! Did quite a bit of research on the QM8 and seeing the 85" size in Best Buy compared to the Q7 was striking! Very obvious difference in the black levels..color saturation..vividness..clarity..and of course 5,000 nits of brightness vs 1,500 nits was obvious..Family members who come over are addicted to that 98" screen size and gorgeous picture..The seating is 13' - 14' from the TV so though large & immersive it's definitely not overpowering..
I'm in the UK, and we live in a house built in 1933, so without spending a fortune ripping out a chimney breast, our stand mounted Samsung 55" is about as large as we can go. The thing that really amuses me is that you can buy a 85" screen for around the same cost in real terms, that our first colour TV, bought in the mid 1970's. And that was probably a 21".
if you want the best possible value at 100" and up, just do yourself a favor and get a Hisense. I have the 100" u8K in my home theater and at $2300 (purchased in 2023), it was an absolute steal. 4K 144Hz/1080p 240Hz, 1600+ dimming zones, 2300 nits of peak brightness, 80% REC 2020, HDR10/HLG/DV. You just cant beat the performance and size to cost ratio.
I bought the same TV 100” Hisense u8 last year & returned it!!!! I returned it for the 98” TCL was way better even tho the 100” Hisense u8 was mini led and has all the local dimming what so ever .. the processor was slow & & picture was colorful but was dark bright colorful that about it .. Picture looks weird not natural
If had the funds, the 86" LG QNED90T would be on my list. It is currently just under $1800, and has an IPS panel with mini-LED backlight for good viewing angles and nice contrast. LG's processing is close to Sony's as well.
Coming from a 75" in the house, I don't mind a 85" but I really want a 98" and to be done with but I went too crazy on buying other things on Black Friday
I just got the QM7 98. It made a huge difference in watching experience. Don't got for anything smaller when you can get it such a low price during this time.
Just received my Sony 85 Inch 4K Ultra HD TV X90L so when it ages and needs to replaced, I can aim for a larger screen. Question: When does it get time to replace a large screen? What are the variables the tells us that the large screen needs to be replaced? is this decision the same for a regular sized T.V. Caleb? Thank you kindly!!
I have a 65inch x90L in my office, its such a beautiful tv, its crazy how much it punches outside its weight class. i would of gotten the 100inch if it was cheaper but went with the u8k instead for my basement.
Caleb, thank you so very, very much for this episode. I traded my 60 inch Panasonic KURO Plasma TV in 2018 for a Sony XBR-85X900F 85 inch TV. So, here I am, six years later, living with this 85 inch Sony in our living room. As you said, you get used to the size. We watch all kinds of content, from DirecTV, to OTA antenna local TV, to 4K Blue Ray on my beloved Oppo-205. The Sony processing is fantastic. So, my living room is very bright, with a wall of windows, would I be a fool to trade processing power for brightness? Are the new TCL’s of 2024 as good at processing as my six year old Sony, or should this videophile just buy the 98 inch Sony and get busy livin’? Thanks again for making this video that I requested in a previous comment. You are Da Man!
Hopefully, they’ll start making 103”-106” sizes. Got in early on a 98” a few years ago. Wouldn’t mind upgrading now that prices are finally low. But can’t commit to 110” or 115”. I think my mount can only handle up to 180lbs.
I just got the 100U70 Hisense and it’s pretty awesome. It hasn’t dethroned my 77 C9 OLED in my man cave. Big screen definitely makes bad quality video look quite bad. 720P or below forget about it. High quality 1080P from a solid source is fine, but you want 1440P or high content to be honest. But for my main family living space where Bluey dominates the screen, it’s just fine. I have two OLEDs. The C9 and a 65 inch A9F master series which is still going strong.
Don't know about Caleb but I'd go QM8 any day!!! Full array, miniLED, local dimming 120 native refresh rate, VRR ( I thiiiiiiiiink???) HDMI 2.1 ports, very bright panel.....I LOVE TCL though, they have packed so much into their TVs for such great prices. I can't put a tv over 70" in my space so I've been looking at the 65" TCL Q7 mostly for casual gaming and movies....... they're around 800 Canadian dollars right now and have all the juicy specs you'd want for gaming.
Yeah, he addressed this and chose the larger screen size as the size gives more of immersive experience than the technically better image quality of the smaller screen.
Hi love watching you show, great accurate advice. Can you answer a question for me, looking for 77 inch or larger mini led TV, which has the best upscale from standard 1080p to 4k. Many thanks Abdul from United Kingdom (UK)
Hi Caleb and Team, thanks for another great video! If at all possible could you do a review of LG's Mini-LED tv line? I'd like to see if they've caught back up and how they measure up against their competitors. Thank you.
Get the TCL QM7 98” for the same price on sale. It’s a lot brighter and has more dimming zones. If you can afford 1k more the TCL 98” QM8 will be even brighter and give even better black levels.
I’ve been in the projector world for the last 8-9 years and, yeah, large is very subjective. To me: 100” is the right fit for casual viewing and gaming. 120-130” is perfect for movies. 150” is reserved for IMAX and BBC Planet stuff.
yeah, sterling reviews. out of this world innovations and tech genius with ALL these devices. man, one would be perplexed as to which one to take home. thanks, mate . another blockbuster, courtesy of U. truth be told
You mentioned the TCL Q6 98 inch had full array local dimming. That is incorrect. The entire line of these TVs is full array - direct lit. The only TV near that price point with full array local dimming (256 zones) is the Hisense U76N 100" which was only $200 more at the time this video was posted. In any case, the size alone is an incredible bang for your buck.
Hi, love your work, and all your advice. What do you think of the LG UT9000 98”? I love LG, and want to go big, but haven’t found any reviews on this. Any thoughts?
I've always preferred quality over size. That being said, if the bigger budget tvs have all the features to utilise the full capability of the latest consoles, i would consider it.
I've had the 85" X90L since launch and i love it. Looking to upgrade and i wonder if the 85" Bravia 7 is much of an upgrade? or if a 98" X90L would be worth considering. What do you think?
@@TheGrimy1Onei saw both side by side at the best buy in bridgewater, nj about 7 weeks ago. (I was contemplating the same thing, since i already had the 85x90L in another house and “needed” an upgrade in my NJ living room. Guess what, i couldn’t tell the difference at all. I promptly returned to the Bridgewater Costco and paid $1399 for another the 85x90l. At that time it was $100 cheaper than the 75x90l. At that price i got a 5 year warranty and 15 Bravia Core credits. Soooo happy!
Samsung wall goes up to 292 inches. But it's a multi panel microled and its like 2 million bucks at that size. Tcl says new factory is capable of 130 inch panels and even panels up to 146 inches. So we could see some mega screen tvs in the future. Likely that would be as big as tvs could possibly go. a 146 inch tv I would imagine you would need a 8 foot tall front door likely. Or it would have to be taken out of its box before bringing it in to install. Because it would be a 6 foot tall tv and likely have another 12 inches of packing material and a skid under it. My 100 inch tv inside it's box was like 5ft 6 inches tall and the tv is only about 50 inches tall. But it was on a skid and had thick packing material. I think anything bigger than a 130 would likely be a 7 foot tall box. A 120 the box would probably be like 6ft 5 inches tall at least. A 130 would max out a front door I am sure. Also a tv that size would likely weigh like 300lbs plus. So it wouldn't be practical for a single panel tv to ever really go over 130 inches imo. Unless they are oleds, very thin and weigh much less.. which would probably still be 130lbs tvs at those sizes. I think as far as lcd panels go anything over a 110 inches is too heavy. You need handles built into the tv top and bottom and like 2 body builders delivering it lol 😆
I think the Sony X90L should have been included in the 85" size. That is the one we plan on getting. We felt more comfortable with Sony compared to Hisense or TCL. We will be spending a bit more but not a huge amount more.
Qm7 was the best deal at this size for 2k. But their is a good argument for the u76n because it's still a larger screen a true 100 inch tv and its picture quality is till comparable despite fewer dimming zones.
I was debating on tcl 98” or Hisense 100 but I like the tcl better. Has better quality build on the screen 📺. I literally taped on the screens and listen to all TVs when went to Best Buy and the Hisense sounds like the cheapest ones compared to Samsung, Sony & tcl.. The screen wobbles on the Hisense & more noticeable on the bigger screens.. I even returned the Hisense for the tcl and kept the tcl .. If u don’t believe me go inspect the screens and compare them at Best Buy displays tap them see it for yourself u will know what Im talking about…
U76N doesn’t get as bright as the QM7. Hisense best large TV is the 85” U8N since it’s a lot cheaper than the TCL 85” QM8 and has similar picture quality. Hisense still hasn’t released its 100” U8N.
Does anyone know when the 2024 TCL QM8 98" will be below $4000? I'm considering purchasing, but it would drive me nuts if I saw the price drop in 2-3 months.
After finally getting a great OLED TV of the same size as my old 1080p TV, I am now more convinced than ever that a size upgrade is the most important thing. Was my 55" Sony OLED an upgrade over my old 55" 1080p Element? Of course, but was it as big of a deal as when I went from my 27" little box to that 55" element? Not even close. I can't even imagine how an 85 plus inch TV of any kind would look in my living room and how it would completely change my viewing experience. My next new tv will definitely have to be 85 inches or more, OLED or not.
If money didn't matter would you go with the 110 or 115 or the 98 Oled ? Is LG likely to build a bigger Oled next year? I couldn't quite tell from your closing comments.
I just got the QM7 98. It made a huge difference in watching experience. Don't got for anything smaller when you can get it such a low price during this time.
@@rolig3518 look, and then ponder ponding out bringing a pre-calibrated QM7 of 5.5 up to its potential of post calibrated 9.5. you are not going to spend $600 to have a Pro calibrate the $500 55", @ $2000 for 98" maybe.

I don't know about the 98" version, but there is an 85" version of the Q6 series (the Q68) which does have full array local dimming. I've only seen it on Amazon though.

Thank you, MAN. I was waiting for this episode for a long time.
What about the 85” Bravia 9 ? Wow
If cost doesn’t matter it is the best tv in the market

Do you think we'll see a 98-100-inch Bravia 9 released next year?
Doubtful. The price would be insane.
Was at best buy trying to decide between a 85 qn90d and 98 q80c.
Imo, the q80c was good enough for me and the size is what really attracts me
I just got the 100U70 Hisense and it’s pretty awesome.
I would love to ask Denison. Would you rather a 98 inch QM8 over 77 A95L OLED. Does size warrant buying a MiniLED over OLED??
Don't know about Caleb but I'd go QM8 any day!!! Full array, miniLED, local dimming 120 native refresh rate, VRR ( I thiiiiiiiiink???) HDMI 2.1 ports, very bright panel.....I LOVE TCL though, they have packed so much into their TVs for such great prices.
I can't put a tv over 70" in my space so I've been looking at the 65" TCL Q7 mostly for casual gaming and movies....... they're around 800 Canadian dollars right now and have all the juicy specs you'd want for gaming.
He actually has a video Answering this very question. I believe he compares the A95L and tcl 115” Qm891g. He chose the 115”.
Yeah, he addressed this and chose the larger screen size as the size gives more of immersive experience than the technically better image quality of the smaller screen.
Size nearly always wins. You could consider the Hisense 85” U8N for 1.7k. Nearly half the price with similar picture quality of the QM8.
it comes to a point where it's more practical to just move the couch nearer to the screen... or to buy a projector.
Projector sucks compared to tv !!
Seems like TCL is is blowing competition out of the park! Cheaper and 95% of the sony and samsung performance.
And pictures quality is great !!!

Hi Caleb and Team, thanks for another great video! If at all possible could you do a review of LG's Mini-LED tv line? I'd like to see if they've caught back up and how they measure up against their competitors. Thank you.
Any thoughts on either of the 2 other Hisense 100" models, the U76 and the QD7? I'm having trouble finding reviews for either of them.
Please review the LG QNED89T at 98 inch. Does it give the x90l and qm8 a run for the money?
It would be nice if you also tell us which one will be having backlight issues after just three months from purchase.

Was that a typo? ... Could your home even accommodate a 170 foot TV? 🤣
@ Check out “Frank’s 2,000 Inch TV”, by “Weird Al” Yankovic. 😎
It's called a Drive In lol
I have a 85" 4k neo qled samsung smart TV want to get a 100" in the future
I think the Sony X90L should have been included in the 85" size. That is the one we plan on getting. We felt more comfortable with Sony compared to Hisense or TCL. We will be spending a bit more but not a huge amount more.
I did the same this weekend. Can’t wait for it to get delivered!
What about going small? I need a 32-inch tv or smart monitor for my RV.
Does anyone know when the 2024 TCL QM8 98" will be below $4000? I'm considering purchasing, but it would drive me nuts if I saw the price drop in 2-3 months.

This is the golden age of tv sets, waiting for the 115 inch to drop in price though😊
He likes the 98 inch tcls better than the 100 inch hisense models at 2k or below?
After finally getting a great OLED TV of the same size as my old 1080p TV, I am now more convinced than ever that a size upgrade is the most important thing. Was my 55" Sony OLED an upgrade over my old 55" 1080p Element? Of course, but was it as big of a deal as when I went from my 27" little box to that 55" element? Not even close. I can't even imagine how an 85 plus inch TV of any kind would look in my living room and how it would completely change my viewing experience. My next new tv will definitely have to be 85 inches or more, OLED or not.
Hisense FTW
If money didn't matter would you go with the 110 or 115 or the 98 Oled ? Is LG likely to build a bigger Oled next year? I couldn't quite tell from your closing comments.
Would you pick the Samsung 83” S90C over the 98” QM7? I’m not sure the picture quality can overcome that large of a size difference.

In many cases, yes. Look at at rtings pre and post calibration scores.
@@rolig3518 look, and then ponder ponding out bringing a pre-calibrated QM7 of 5.5 up to its potential of post calibrated 9.5. you are not going to spend $600 to have a Pro calibrate the $500 55", @ $2000 for 98" maybe.
