DON’T buy the Sandisk Extreme SSD if it’s for an IPad. It doesn’t work with my IPad Air 4. Plus Sandisk says that it’s not made/compatible for iPads. Just Pc/computer . This guy should’ve clarified that.
Yeah, I’m facing the same issue.
Need more power so try using powerbank n type c to usb 3 adaptor and lemme know please 🙏
Hi thank you for saving my bucks, almost buy sandisk extreme ssd. So what do you recommend?
@@jafarfadh I think most other external SSD are compatible for iPad. But I would do the research first to make sure. I only really know about Sandisk. Sorry.
@@NRafa7 I've tried using extra power with MacBook charger and USB Hub. But still doesn't work.
I flick files between Mac and PC all the time. Use M.2 drive with external case. Super fast
Great video. In the market to upgrade my storage to SSD and this was helpful. BTW, in your recommendations you called the Sandisk a Samsung Extreme Portable.
Keep making informative videos like this.
Thanks for the kind words! And shoot! They are so close!
Andrew, i got the Samsung T7 , 1TB a week back and its lightning fast. Dont have any lags in file reading or writing and very tiny to carry .
Happy with the investment even though its expensive, worth the money spent.
Great drive option! They have almost a cult-like following!
And very tiny to find when you have lost it.
probably not expensive than what apple charges 😂
Given the speeds, for those who do demanding video editing, it may be best to get the biggest possible internal SSD since the only external SSDs that match the internal speed may be about as expensive as the BTO internal SSDs.
Fun fact: La Cie is a pun. The parent company is Seagate and La Cie is French for "The Company". The enclosed chip is called a FireCuda, which presumably is some sort of mythical sea monster. 🌊
Good info 👍
What about an internal SSD within an enclosure?
I bought wd p50 20gbps 8GB drive, opened it and removed its stock SN750 drive, chucked sn770 2TB. Boom, 2TB 20Gbps drive with turbo write at full speed at around 500GB+.
Then chucked the sn750 is a cheap orico enclosure..
I love the underwater SSD...
Need some help. I do photo editing and am about to upgrade from my old, old Mac Pro to the new Mac Studio M2 Max and need external drives (SSDs)...one for storing my photos and the other for backup. I would like two 8TB drives....what would you recommend? Thanks.
Others have said SanDisk and Samsung and maybe others get very hot & drain battery when used on iPad Pro, gave you experienced these sort of problems on these drives?
I thought you were going to tell us which one is better for iPad and Mac separately🥹🥹🥹
Hi there ,
Could u please guide what ssd should i buy for my iPad Air 4 ?
I run a VM off a 500gb Samsung T7.. about a year in and i've had zero problems!
What camera do you use? Feel so dizzy when you shake those ssds in front of the camera
Have the T7 with the finger print and it’s the best SSD I’ve ever had. Super fast and a very small form factor so it easily fiets I my bag.
Does it work with iPads?
@@NRafa7 don’t know for sure, but I think it should work with new iPads. Google is you best friend in this case.
@@NRafa7 it works with iPad but not with iPhones
How about the OWC Envoy Pro FX?
Will these be ok for iPhone too?
Hello so I am not a rich person and I can/want to buy any price ssd I just want to know that I am thinking to buy a LaCie and I don’t know if I can get it or not because I want to put an iPad air2 photos to the ssd and I want it to copy the exact same data (where I took the photo when and ipad ) so whole should I choose ? Please help ASP
Do you have any tips for holding your iPad in your hands while using an SSD? With the cable sticking out of the side it’s really uncomfortable.
I'm also looking for same....
Did you got any idea for that
I currently have a western digital external hard drive with a little over 2TB of music. It runs very slow with my MacBook Pro. I'm thinking it's because of the current drive I use. Would an SSD drive work faster and better specifically with Apple Music. FYI, I have no interest in streaming services and cloud services don't cut it for me. Thank you for any advice!
Absolutely, would be quite a bit faster. I had the same exact issue and bought an external SSD. It's like night and day.
@@johloflivsmedelsverket-wy9nw thank you! What kind of cords do you use to connect to your computer?
Using ssds on and iPad sends shivers down my spine 🥶🥶🥶
Can I backup my iPad music to the Sandisk SSD…
12:00 you mean Sandisk not Samsung.
I have a T7 touch, a sandisk extreme portable and a sandisk portable. T7 is by far the best value, the Sandisks here in my country at least are quite expensive. The Sandisk portable (non extreme version) is terrible, extremely slow, fine for holding old photos/videos but not ideal for regular use if fast transfer speeds are needed, and if you try encrypt it it runs slower than a spinning hdd drive. Just mentioning it incase anyone is looking at the non extreme version.
you recommend Samsung t7 for holding old photos and videos as backup cuz my iphone is out of space, it's cheap in my country and speed doesn't matter, I only need reliability and longevity 👍
@@IqbalHossain-vg8vr t7 is fast, but if its also cheap then go for it, its a very good drive
so what one would you say is the best for video editng?
I’d say almost all of them. It all comes down to the device you’re working /editing with. Mac, pc, iPad etc. For example, the Sandisk Extreme isn’t compatible with IPad (personal experience as well). Only Mac and pc
Would you go for the SanDisk Portable SSD or Crucial X6 for a PS5?
Non of them
I have samsung t5 reliable
I can use my 2T extreme on my iPad Pro with no issues
I put a split my internal ssd 1t7Samsung to have to side's I need to remove the wall and keep the photos that are in there. Is that able to be done?
I have a Sandisk Extreme portable v2 SSD and I use it for video editing but I find that it gets WAY TOO Hot when editing 4k video...this cannot be normal...is the Samsung T7 cooler? is it as fast as the Sandisk Portable (Not the pro version). The sandisk's temperature while ediitng video worries me...thanks
I was on another video and a few comments said the same. The one guy said he’d replaced his with the T7 and it doesn’t get hot doing 4K.
Hey Erick, I have both and I can confirm that the Extreme ssd is getting hot pretty fast. But that does not mean the performance is less. Both work great for me, but the T5/7 is indeed way cooler for my experience.
@@ADUMON yep...I got the Samsung. I will still use the Sandisk for other tasks but not for editing. That much heat cannot be good at all..no matter what the manufacturer says. I only use them to edit 4k videos. The original footage is safe in a Lacie raid..
Which SSD doesn't get warm? I have tried Samsung T7, G-Drive and they got hot a lot.
I have a T5. It gets super hot immediately and doesn't function properly. Wish I had just purchased more memory to start with.
can someone please help me? i've been on youtube for hours searching for an SSD that's strictly plug & play with no software or extra accounts needed to be made. i need one that is Mac compatible, reliable and can hold up to 2 TB at least.
I say go for Samsung as they usually make the storage put into MacBooks iPhones etc anyway
@@ytwatcher2021 I appreciate the help
@@deantethegiant your welcome
You are not getting 1000MB read or write on the T7 on a machine with a m1 inside more like + 500 in my testing. Still fast enough for my needs.
Definitely more than 500 MB/s. I get about 800 MB/s on my M1. You can see the screenshot in my review!
appleinsider.com/articles/22/04/26/samsung-t7-shield-review-durable-fast-ssd-storage-for-on-the-go
@@AppleInsider I have retested mine and get around 700 MB/sec of read right which is faster than when I bought It a year ago. Which version of MacOS did you test it with I am using 12.5 as of the test I just did.
@@mejlgaardbliddal oh good! This was on my MacBook Pro with the latest macOS that was just released.
I prefer Crucial X8.
Samsung T7 is just the best out there
I love the Sandisk ssd. I bought 4 on sale for $60 each. I use them and love them but when I connect one (properly reformatted) to my iPad Air 5 and it gets uncontrollably hot.
Hey which one would you recommend getting then for ipad air 5? Have you tried Samsung t7 or t5? I have seen some more videos about it on RUclips and sandisk ssd has alot of similar review but they recommend Samsung t5 but maybe not t7.
Yeah, the T7 is great. I have one of those and it doesn’t get hot at all. Mine is the t7 shield. I still use the Sandisk extremes and there has been no issues aside from the crazy heat.
@@Dmhlcmb thankyou so much. It helps
Is it true that the password and other security features of the T7 do not work with the iPad Air 5? I read somewhere that they have to be disabled.
@@jas6042 it’s true, but I read that the fingerprint sensor does work. I don’t have one though.
❤️❤️
the T5 doesnt work with my ipad M2 pro
Update? Still the same?
1:07 to the point .
S for SanDisk, S for Steve Vai..
@ 12:00 this is not a SAMSUNG ssd.
Samsung T7 line
Next, Sandisk
Then Lacie SSD rugged
...
What’s the cheapest? Don’t care that much about the speed lol
The Samsung drives are limited to 10Gbps on a Mac since USB Gen 2 2x2 isn’t supported by Apple. He clearly didn’t test any of these drives.
Dont bother trying SanDisk with Ipad. It wont work.
I don’t trust this channel for misinformation.
It feels more for selling & affiliate than what people need
I Hope they review their value quality rather than deleting my comment
THIS GUY DID NOT TEST IT ON THE IPAD AS HE DIDNT KNOW THAT THAT SANDISK ONLY REACH 500 SPEED NOT
samsung is best
Wish you focused on thunderbolt drives too. Just a bunch of usbc… meh
There just aren't a ton of them out there. AND, many of the ones that are out there offer the SAME speeds as the USB-C versions. We have two of them in this video and I mentioned the Rugged Pro from LaCie. The only other one I'd recommend is the one from Pluggable.
Do your own research you Bozo 😂 🤡
All thesepaid reviews are full of shit
