As I’m watching, I’m wondering why the likes don’t match with the views??!!! I like before I have even seen the video ❤
I agree. I watch from Canada every day and wonder the same thing. Doesn’t cost them anything and would really help Dan
I dont get it ether dan dose very good work he deserves better
That's the way it is for all channels.
I do too
Does it help to like people comments? Maybe helps make it up a bit?
I think I'm more invested in this build than anything else on RUclips. Love how it's coming together. Anyone else get grumpy when there is no video for a day 🥴
Yes I know what you mean.
I wasn't expecting an upload today, with the roof being so complicated. So today was a nice surprise.
I do go through withdrawal when he doesn't post for a few days, but that is balanced by my amazement at how many days he does post. He has made so much progress and keeps going. I'm impressed.
I think there are thousands of us that get our daily Dan fix! Massive achievement, if anyone can, Dan can!
Yeah, but I know how much work there is to do so I totally understand. I'm grateful for the opportunity to watch all all this happening as it happens. Reminds me very much of some of the work Dad and I did (though that was on a much smaller scale). :)
Yes, I am so disappointed when I sit down to watch in the evening and there is no video
I am sorry I cannot be there with you. I am too old and poor, but I love this work and history. This is what people should be doing instead of destruction and killing. Good luck I am with you.
I can’t take the killing. Go Dan go!!! Great helpers to!
The majority of people would rather be productive, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control some are drawn into the destruction, mostly due to the actions of unchecked despotic leaders!?!
We are there with him! Except we are tucked up warm and dry 🙂 - wonders of the internet!
We're not there either but I feel we're all there together spiritually. 💞
Brilliant work, this should be televised, the world doesn't know what it's missing. Great work team 👏
Dan has been on British TV last year help l brought a village haven't got round to watching Dan episode yet when I've got time will sit and watch it
@@catherinebarlow3079 I saw that I meant on a greater scale.
@@williamjamison5010 what greater scale than the world wide web? A television crew would mostly get in the way, require everything done three times and done they way they want it done. This way, it is more authentic, more democratic, more accessible, and Dan controls every aspect. The TV company would also probably cancel it after one series, as they seem to do with everything any good, these days ☹
@XantheWilliams very true, but the more, the merrier.
That roof was a very complicated roof to build and assemble just like it was before it burned. You have done an excellent job guys. Congratulations.😊👍
Absolutely agree
It's exciting to witness in near real-time. Just imagining the entire roof structure restored; what a sight it will be to behold.
And yet I feel like Dan and the boys made it look real easy 😅
Can somebody explain why the French decided this was a good way to construct a roof?
@@Lemma01 It was a way to get an extra floor without paying taxes for it. You can read all about it if you search for Mansard roof.
That roof is looking like a work of art. Fair play to you Dan, you've proved the naysayers wrong.
There weren't any naysayers on Dan's skills to do the roof. The doubts were could he do it quickly enough to prevent damage, and also, can he do it using a safe method of working.
Dan, you, Cameron, Nick and Calvin are keeping me in lovely suspense.
See you all again tomorrow.
Cheers
All thanks to Dan and the team this has very quickly became my favorite YT series. No silly edits or whatever, just some cool dudes restoring a chateau. Absolutely love it.
If Dan would have said years ago as Dan the Gardner, the journey he would take us on in a short time, I would have never guessed we would be so far into the restoration, stunning, beautiful work of such historical value. Well done Dan & Team!
Loving the earlier uploads. Means I can get off to bed on time knowing you've not killed yourself. 😊
happy to help you sleep better
This has been our thought for months. Did Dan make it through the day? Such relief.
@escapetoruralfrance why when we are late watching you we cannot leave a message. I am a patron. God be with you and family.😊
I get so happy when Dan videos appear, and have to also thank Nick, Cameron, and Calvin for helping Dan. Today is exceptional work. ❤❤
WOW!!! Y’all are kicking some on that complex roof!! Glad to see Calvin back. Always a delight to see Nick on site as well… What a daring challenge you took in Dan!!! Much ADMIRATION‼️‼️
She’s coming back to her former glory! Such an elegant lady she’s gonna be!!
You ROCK DAN‼️‼️‼️‼️
The bespoke roof is looking great! The on-site milling really speeds things up and I think means there is better control over the quality of what is worked with. It’s beyond wonderful to see Dan and his good friends and colleagues bring this to fruition! Forward, onward, with determination and good humor! Cheers!!
My only concern is whether the wood you are sawing is seasoned properly. I have made that mistake in the past.
@@censured-again I don’t think they are building with newly felled trees. I think those must be set aside to season for some period of time. I think they are working with the load of wood the delivery of which they had been awaiting.
I do think they know what they are doing! 🎉🎉❤❤
Wow, that roof is a bloody master piece Dan. I'll keep my fingers crossed you get it water tight by Thursday. X
Hopefully the weather will play its part and not turn up early, if it's not finished just sheet over the machinery in the basement, the roof timbers have got wet previously, when Dan does get the roof slates or whatever on the roof next year or the year after he wants to treat all the timbers inside with preservative as a further precaution, it will only take one or two days for the Wing!?!
Finally the roof!! I'm so proud of you!!! I've been watching the progress happen for over 12 months now! Amazing!
It's the roof structure, the "roof" has yet to go on (About 2 to 4 tonnes of slates or such like), he's just putting a temporary waterproof membrane on at present, it will take a further three to four weeks to put the permanent roof on and that might be next year as Dan is starting the other Wing, I think!?!
The Grand Ol Lady is breathing easier now! She will give you guys memories to tell to the future!!
Why can't all these people who are viewing the video rake two seconds and hit the like button?? It doesn't cost you anything, but helps Dan out Immensely!!
dont tell me what to do
I agree. To me it's about showing Dan thanks for doing it and entertaining me. It's the least I can do.
YA!!!!!! FOR HEAVENS SAKES FOLKS HIT THE FLIPPIN LIKE BUTTON. TAKES 1 SECOND....
They're probably so overawed with the whole scene, they forget.
i always do
That roof is a thing of beauty
I can just imagine the pride and joy of accomplishment Dan has at the end of every day seeing the progress he has made.
Dan its so nice of Nick and Calvin to jump in and help you with these roof frames its so much better than you having to go up and down so much. Looking good guys!
Again, in that center "tower " a observatory would be awesome! Imagine watching the stars from there!
This is really amazing ❤
Oooooh ..... a glass dome?
He can do that now, I think he just needs to get a roof on as even that will be quite troublesome, perhaps he can put in some velux type roof windows!?!
I think the center tower is where that office is with the 360 degree view.
I thought that too 🌕✨
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dan's friends (Nick, Cameron, Calvin) for helping "our friend" Dan out. We were worried about him doing it all himself. You are doing a fantastic job. I don't get British TV so I don't get to watch it when the chateau comes on. I am sure those that will see this it though will be as impressed as we here on RUclips are.
You're getting everything here, really. The TV segments in November were interesting, but little more info than we see here, and only on small things. There was a nice interview (if you could call it that) with Calvin.
I hit Like before watching too. If everyone who is subscribed would Like and view each video, imagine what an impact that would have in helping Dan raise the funds needed to fund this project. I am excited by each step completed. Dan is so close to having one wing closed in and can start on another. This whole project really flying by quickly. The momentum is building. The twinkle in Dan's eyes is still there.
where is cameron?
Well done Dan and Team; looks amazing. Absolutely love watching your progress with the Chateau restoration. May the storm stay away until the roof is finished 🙏🏼
I would like to purchase this series on cd without commercials. It is a great how to for construction and renovation. Both much needed skills.
That is just such a great idea.
It would make for a great fundraiser. Maybe he can do it once he gets all the walls redone, the windows in, & the roof completed. (My Dad the architect would say that a building is half-finished at that point.)
Ah, but you CAN believe it, Dan. That's how all this has come together! Well done, you. Lovely process. Excellent work. Great team.
Let’s pray you make it before the storm Dan! 🙏
Restoring the Grande Dame is bringing back history - what a wonderful thing you’re doing.
That's quite an elaborate roof structure, and a prideful job done re-creating it. Great work Dan, nice to see the undying adherence to re-creating what once was.
It's got a certain...roofiness about it. 😄
It must be interesting for Nick to be putting wood up instead of taking it down. 😊
Fabulous progress, it does help having a team of you doing it together
Thank you, watching you build is bringing back fond memories of building our homes. Nothing like the feeling of standing under a roof you've created and installed yourselves, dry and watching the rain being outside! The sound of rain hitting the roof....we, too, were blessed with family and friends who helped when we needed an extra set of hands. Good luck and best wishes on your journey..
Just a note on the Paslode - keep all body parts north of the business end on that gun. If the nail hits a knot or hard spot the nail will u-turn and come back at you. Saw your mate there using his body to hold that board in place with the gun pointing at him. Just saying is all, no response needed.
What a great looking bunch of men doing an amazing job. You are all making an old lady ( with memories lol) very happy. Keep it up lol🤗
Your roof is a thing of beauty!
The thought of cracking open a bottle of champagne keeps crossing my mind!! Wow Dad… just WOW !! We are all so very proud!!
Ditto..... Cheers!!!
When he has all the temporary roofs on, that will be a turning point, hopefully before Xmas he can have the other wings roof structure and temporary membrane on, but it's already the end of February, the Central Section looks like it's going to be a right slog on the roof walls and roof, that could eat up two years, then there's the repair work inside and out, permanent roof to go on, terraces to repair, then fit out of windows, doors, electrics, ceilings, floors, plumbing and heating, kitchen(s) and at least 4 bathrooms, and after that is the boundary walls and gate, assuming Nick will do most of the Garden, it might be a long time before a cork is popped!?!

One celebration at a time? 😄
Need some handy volunteers
What’s your problem??
Dan Dan Dan I can’t believe you’ve got the roof trusses on. Congratulations. You are coming closer to fulfill your dreams.
Hello Dan, you amazing guy.
Be safe as you carry on! ❤
Cannot wait to see the bracing, fiddly bits, cladding and OSB being done tomorrow.😊👍
Great progress, 'many hands make light work' is very true, the three of you really kicked goals today and looking forward to tomorrow. Well done Dan and Crew
This was super satisfying to watch. Great to see Nick and Calvin helping.
I'm just glad you have help with this roof job. I've been worried about your safety up there. Thanks to your friends from me.
Yes! Thank you, Dan's friends, and all the fans rooting for him and watching all the ads, all thumbs up. Keep on doing it.
Good morning Team Dan ❤
Double dang woooooooow what a masterpiece guys ….
I’m bursting with excitement …I’m ready for the roof shout 🙌👍
See you tomorrow ❤
Your Maths teachers would be proud of you! It’s looking magnificent 👏👏
The roof is a beautiful sight to behold, so good that you have help, so you don’t have to go up and down the ladders by yourself. It’s moving right along!
Wow. Dan you built up these last few days of the roof's construction and it hasn't disappointed. THANKS ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing progress! Love watching this RUclips channel. Thank you Dan, and team.🙏👏
I live in Japan at 12 000 km from his chateau but I’m so proud of what he has accomplished ! What a achievement ! I’m so happy to see the roof’s coming together
Don't worry, Dan and the team. I'm sure you will have it finished for Thursday it looks brilliant when you look up from underneath. You all should stand back, have a beer, and give yourselves a big pat on the back. Well done, one proud moment in time
“Man in the orange pants” is looking great, every time you visit you can tell you’ve getting thinner. 👍👍
Agreed. 😜
So are you saying he was fat before?
@@katehobbs2008yes, yes we are
pudgy@@katehobbs2008
@@katehobbs2008 Not at all. You jump to conclusions. It is noticeable that he has gained muscle.
Of course, we (I) have seen the beginning, clearing, cleaning, etc.
But now it's really serious.
The roof crowns part of the building, and even reaching this stage, it makes such a difference.
I am stoned!
BRAVO 👏
I think back to when I first started watching and you were climbing all over that roof of the cottage you restored. Now you are on top of the world. What an accomplishment. We are all so happy for you. Can’t wait for the coming weeks. We are sharing your excitement. 😊 thanks for sharing this cool adventure.
Your patience is amazing. A good team is irreplaceable
I have to say I wasn't seeing the roof structure until today. Well done Dan! And team! I can't imagine Dan doing this part on his own. Great work all.
Ditto, I could not visualize what he was doing, but WOW!
I’m amazed…..absolutely brilliant….be proud be very proud….i can’t wait to join you on your journey following your progress throughout your castle…I really hope we will see it when you move in ….. 16 years ago. My husband and I took on a similar project in Brittany. It took us awhile but like you from the roof down we started it was a brilliant project and we learned so much….. after it was finished, we turned it into a boutique hotel…. we absolutely loved it. It was beautiful and surely part of us….. but we weren’t getting any younger and our three children and young grandchildren who live in Cornwall wanted us home,
But how we miss our beautiful place in France …. we have been back in England three years now I’m still renovating, but it’s not the same, so I do truly envy your project I Know that sometimes in France getting materials or anyone in to work for you can be very frustrating indeed you almost need to sign your life away to get through any type of paperwork,…… but every time we finished a task we were so proud and pleased with our achievements. I hope you will feel the same as we did and I’m sure you will. we will continue to watch you and maybe from time to time pop up with some comments. Wishing you the very very best of luck.
I really like the way you guys work together. It's almost meditative with a few laughs in between focused work. The synergy that I see between you & Nick is so real & wholesome. If I were to guess, I would also say that while rebuilding the chateau, you both have built a friendship that will last a lifetime.
The mini sawmill is very very cool
Glad to see you’ve got the ‘lads’ helping you out on such a big job. Take care all of you. 👏👏👏👏💫
Dan the Mathematician! And Magician! Well done! Much respect! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dan
What you have all achieved is nothing short of a miracle
You have a roof!!
Andrew 💐💜x
Bon courage Dan c'est magnifique 🦾😉
Tell us all who isn't liking these uploads? You should be ashamed of yourself. This is a massive accomplishment that most people couldn't even imagine how or where to even begin. If you'd look back at the first upload of the state of decay when Dan walked through and how much has been done its beyond belief and just imagine what it's going to be when it's all done.
yes mother
I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how you were going to tie those 3 sides together! GREAT JOB! It all made so much sense to me watching today!
Love the effort that is going in to this, especially amazing when you realise he’s also editing the daily update videos too! Well done Dan and team, keep up the good work.
I'm extra excited for the Thursday storm deadline! You are all amazing working between all the floors and without staircases... Amazing. Thanks for all those excellent video updates.
What a difference with having a system going with the roof Dan that much help is saving you so much time than doing it all yourself. Looking good I must so with all the special cut and angles to the roof Dan your hard work has paid off👏. So well done Dan the roofer man. Looking forward to the finish tomorrow. Loved watching. See you tomorrow😗😘
What a thing of beauty! Your math skills are amazing! Your roof is a true piece of artwork!
I continue to be soooo impressed. Suggestion, bring Calvin on full time as he is so nice to look at❤
Hi Dan. Congrats to you and the whole team. You are doing a stonking job. You must be stoked. Thanks for letting us see the work and progress. You give me confidence to crack my own (tiny) diy projects
Dan- you are inspirational- no problems, just solutions, thinking thru everything. Well done.
All those compound angles Dan. It's a math nightmare I could not master. You, Calvin, Nick, together make it look easy.
Omg Dan, what can I say , a work of art , yous guys are amazing x
Absolutely awesome! I Love your team of helpers. Your all beast... How exciting it is , that your bringing new life to this gorgeous home. Well done you all.
I'm ecstatically happy for you to see the roof nearly complete! Amazed at how well this has gone for you single handedly.
I caught up. I discovered this channel about a week ago and I have binge-watched all the videos of the Chateau restoration so far. I am in awe of the skills of all involved. Superb content. Love it ❤❤❤❤
Is anyone else AMAZED like me? Perfect angles.
Seeing how complex that roof build is I’m just amazed. A few hours of thought to figure that out.
I’ve been anxiously waiting to watch you getting the roof built so really enjoying watching it
Dan, those things you are talking about, restoring a piece of the view, a piece of history for others in the community, it is a hopeful thing, for you and everyone around. What you are doing is more than construction, it makes things better, it is positivity and yes, hope. every little thing counts. I love your cheerful nature, and the pride you take in your work. It makes me happy all the way over on the west coast of Canada, so thank you! It is a lot you have taken on, so be encouraged, have faith in yourself, and take all good care of yourself, ❤️ 🇨🇦 🍁
Been following your progress since May of last year and I can't begin to tell you how privileged we all feel,
to be along for the ride as you pour your heart into restoring this once magnificent Grande Chateaux.
She's going to look fantastic when she's finished.
+DAN I GOTTA SAY, WELL DONE. CALCULATING ALL THE CORRECT ROOF PITCHES AND SHAPES, THEN DUPLICATING USING ALL THE CONSTRUCTION METHODS, SLOTTING, DOWELS, NAILS, STANDATD WOOD DIMENTIONAL LUMBER TO CREATE THE ACCURATE SHAPE OF THE CHATEAUS ORIGINAL ROOF IS AWESOME!!!!!! Dan, I actually find myself getting a little emotional seeing you so close to covering the roof. Good thoughts and prayers 🙏 to the three of you.
I have been meaning to comment for days now. You do mountains of work on your own but the speed that 3 people can make is so noticeable, it's quite a treat . Overall this part of the rebuild is very exciting . For you, for the neigbours, and for us you cheering team. Well done Dan. Carol in Nova Scotia.
Amazing work Dan all your hard works staggering you put a worker ant to shame.
great to see the wise Nick back again and Calvin looks very lean
You're going to have it all dried in before long. WOO HOO 😊
Congratulations Dan!! A little teary..I'll admit. You're seriously and physically moving on up!! ❤️
Absolutely amazing what you’ve achieved so far getting a tool sponsor is brilliant. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could get a scaffold sponsor get the whole place scaffold out i’ve watched this channel from day one
Well done Dan, Nick and Calvin! What a team! The roof is looking fantastic. I can't wait to see it completed. What a relief it will be to get it all watertight 👍
Okay, to say I failed math would be an understatement. The angles and cuts you have to make for all that to fit together is amazing!
Your team is indeed making the roof build going quicker👍🏻. Here’s praying the storm holds off til you are dried in!🙏🏻🙏🏻
My daily ritual. At 7 my wife leaves for work. Just by myself with coffee watching the progress. The film arrives in the evening but I keep it till this special moment. Great.
You should be very proud Dan, it looks amazing!
The view from the high floors is so lovely. Sometimes, it seems that it would impossible to work because I'd want to just stand and stare.
