  • 🤯 Reeflex G-Series Lenses for iPhone: bit.ly/reeflex-iphone
    I tend to stick with the main camera on my iPhone because it has the largest sensor and best optics. But I still want to be versatile with my photography. That's why I'm so excited about Reeflex's new G-Series lenses for the iPhone. These lenses have been designed to make the most out of the iPhone's larger sensor and improved optics, giving me way more creative control.

    I am really looking forward to receiving my G-Series kit in January. We just returned from a few days in Key West, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max did a great job with the built-in lenses, but the 2x on the main camera would have been my go-to. October in Key West is Fantasy Fest, which is like a mini Mardi Gras, with a great many people wearing body paint and little else.

      Me too! I'll get a proper review shared once I get the final production lenses and have time to really put them through their paces.

      Hey, Patricia! Great to hear from you!
      These lenses really are an awesome addition to an iPhone kit, especially the 14 pro and 15 pro.

    I was happy to say goodbye to add-on lenses when I sold my SLR. A smartphone in my pocket is enough for me!

    This looks super exciting.
    I was just at the beach today with my Sony RX10 with it's really nice, sturdy camera strap and one thing did jump into my mind.
    I would be super scared about dropping my shiny new iPhone with it's great new lens.
    Will this system have any kind of wrist strap etc, because this would be a real drama for me?
    Anyone have any idea about this?

      I see, they have a wrist strap for their cases, answered my own question.

      @Johnthetripper yup, there is a slot on the case to attach a lanyard strap 👍🏼

    Thanks for your review. I am very interested in telephoto lenses to shoot interviews but the shape of the Reeflex tele lenses indicates that it will not be compatible with ND filters therefore useless for outdoor work. Do you know if they will change that shape and make it compatible with ND filters?

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  8 месяцев назад

      What makes you think that the telephoto lens won’t work with filters? I can confirm that I can use filters with my telephoto lens.

    • @umbertoaguiar
      @umbertoaguiar 8 месяцев назад

      The shape of the lens. There is no place to screw a filter on the tele lens considering the way it looks on your video. Good to know that I can use the lens with filters. But I guess it will be only Reeflex filters what is okay because they have VND filters unlike FreeWell Sherpa P.S I watched the review again and realised that I had missed the part where you remove that lens hood ? from the tele lens . The risks of multi tasking...😀@@brianmatiash

    Not sure. I see some aberrations on 5:06. The edges of the leaves seems rather weird. I don't know if this is caused by the iphone or by these lens. I see the results a bit artificial. I am sure this is the future but not so sure if the results are too good yet.
    Thanks Brian

      To confirm - these are preproduction models and I can confirm that the final versions will have substantial optical improvements. That’s why I explicitly said that this isn’t a review. It’s more of a preview of this specific lens kit.

      I have a Sandmarc telephoto lens that is over a year old now, no issues whatsoever with aberration or vignetting.

    Cool product and you make great points, BUT if you're going to the trouble of carrying lenses, why not just carry a real camera and benefit for an even larger sensor and cleaner files?

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  7 месяцев назад

      I mean, the most obvious answer is weight savings. Plus, when you pair high-grade optics with the main sensor, you can get some seriously great images.
      Don’t get me wrong. I hear you. You’re not wrong about the benefits of larger sensors, more pixels, and better optics. But, the gap between these two types of cameras is shrinking, especially for what many people need.

      @@brianmatiash Fair point. Not to mention these are less expensive than lenses for dedicated cameras.

    • @brianmatiash
      @brianmatiash  7 месяцев назад

      That’s also true. In my head, I see these mobile lenses as something to get people already interested in mobile photography more excited as opposed to try to convince dslr/mirrorless users to give up their cameras up for phones.
      Bottom line: it’s such an awesome time for anyone to be a photographer! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    Everything looks great, but there is no information on availability. Apparently one cannot buy it right now.. There is also no info on compatibility with future models of iPhone. I have iPhone 14 Pro Max, I skipped 15 but probably buy 16 next year.

      Availability is listed on the Kickstarter link. The current estimated delivery is January 2024, as stated there. As for future compatibility, these lenses are built with that in mind, but every manufacturer is ultimately subject to Apple's whims. For example, Apple moved the telephoto lens with the 15 Pro Max, which required every case/lens manufacturer to scramble to redesign their mount system accordingly. With that said, I suspect that these lenses will work just fine going forward, but I can't guarantee it.
