Resto shaman is ma main since WotLK. It doesn't matter if it's at the top or not.
Came back from a long break off wow (healed for 17 years) into S2 as monk main. S3 was mostly resto sham. S4 Evoker.
I think going into TWW Presvoker is starting to pull ahead because they're super fun. I'll "echo" the range limitations sentiment. Maybe blizz can lift the range limitations on targeted spells, but shorten empowered by like 5 or something to compensate. Idk.
RestoSham is definitely a close second now as well though.

I love how Pres got EVERY tier set from DF baked into either a talent or hero talents. Chrono-warden gets all of them!

I am a druid for 10 but i think ima do my shaman they seem so much stronger
its def been the most consitant healer,has seen the least ammount of change out of all healers by far over the years post wrath,just got insentives to do more damage

That 30y range is a crying shame it still exists. Give Pres 40y on their targeted heals (echo, reversion, blossom, spirit bloom, living flame) and it will get 50% more representative over night.
Especialy when you see that they added 5 range in talents for Aug on buffing spells... like what ?
if they do that they will offset it by hard nerfing their healing throughput; i agree they should but are yall ready to accept the ramifications is the question

@@peteraubry4823 You're completely wrong. More range would make it BY FAR the best in pvp. It's already the best along with druid. PVE'ers are just selfish.
Preservation would be my #1 if it wasn't for the range limitation. I reckon they should just give us the +5yard talent that they gave to augmentation. We would still have less range than other healers and blizzard could say they kept the "theme". I think 5yards would make all the difference.
It doesn't though friend. Listen it's more unfair than you think. Rdruid can rejuv at 40+ yards, I wouldn't trade that for 40 yards.
The range limitation is why I stopped playing evoker all together. It's too much work to keep people topped off or buff them when they are operating on a completely different range standard. Not to mention raid encounters stopped being evoker-friendly after Abberus... I cant imagine what a sh1t-show encounters will be for evokers in TWW.
Absolutely agreed on great changes to hpal. Hpal felt bad in late dragonflight bc spenders felt unusually weak deapite them being resource spenders that you pool. Im glad it became more MELEE again and I am looking forward to playing lightsmith and its buffs because the meters shown so far in videos made the cd feel like ashen hallow 2. Really forward to it.
I feel the same way about pres-voker, played in S3 of dragon flight. I love love loved it. The play style is the best in the game right now (for me). But after a while of having to chase down the hunters who have happy feet ( you know you do it lol ) I just got to the point that I realized that no one is used to thinking about placement with preservation. I knew it was very possible, but the toon got parked. Sad really it’s so fun to play.
Also I don’t know what I’m going to play yet.

-my mains (campfire 4) are in order 1) Preservation 2) Holy Paladin 3) Resto Shaman and 4) Mistweaver. After playing all of these on beta and testing I have the most fun with these and Pres Chrono feels so good.
-I knew you were going to pick the healers you did!
-Pres range needs to be adjusted to fall in line with all other healers. To have a restriction there has to be a benefit and with other healers have good throughput or better it seems this restriction needs to go. Solution: make empowered spells have the range restriction and all other heals normal range. Super easy fix and good compromise.
I agree with all of what you said which was insight and helps other viewers for sure. The good thing is all these have dps alt specs to mix it up. Lastly, resto shaman feels really really good and to me it might even be tied for 2nd with Holy Paladin due to the utility because totemic and capacitor totem just feels too good in groups.
In Dragonflight season 2 I became a main healer (DPS before) and I choose Discipline Priest (and a little bit of Holy) and I found my calling as a healer after 19 years.🤣In tail end of season 3 and into season 4 I dabbled in Resto Shaman. Which is my main going into War Within. I had so much more fun with it. Discipline is fun but requires slightly more brainpower although you already need more brainpower to heal than dps. 😅So main is resto with my Priest taking up second place. In Pandaria Remix I made a Monk and Druid and out of those 2 I like Mistweaver more so that's my third spot. :D
I feel like priest lacks nice utility unfortunately. Maybe i should try shaman. I also found shadow a bit boring compared to mage or warlock. I think priest needs more rework.
I agree with the range limitations. I do a lot of PVP as well and it's always so annoying.
Even now on DF S4 i have been using Hpally as a melee healer (also change the blessing for the healing aura) and im having a blast and almost no hardcast. As a casual player (doing m +7-+12 and heroic raid) the amount of healing is really decent and fun for this aspect of the game. So hype for the lightsmith pally!
My tops are Rsham and prevoker too, and i came here curious about what a third would be! I think Blizz thinks that the movement abilities of Prevoker make up for the range issues, but we also have so many big heals that require us to be behind the whole group, that we deal with a double tricky situation to get fully effective heals. I have been smashing keys and having so much fun on the Prevoker with an all melee group and hps winning in raid--the fast-paced playstyle ammiright?--but a key with a spriest, hunter, and mage spread out around Magmatusk or Azureblade, and i question my life decisions. You've got me interested in dusting off my Holy Pal...which i never thought id say.

The Evoker range limitation single handedly stopped me from maining Evoker. It’s a damn shame, cause I really like Dev and Pres otherwise.
The range limitation is a balancing function. If you want more range, you're gonna have to deal with a nerf to their overall healing. It's too much.

Still haven't decided on what I'm playing in TWW. Ele is looking pretty hot atm. As far as healers go, I'd have to say Resto Sham, HPal and Mistweaver are my top 3 picks.

I hate range limit of pres, but I got bored of Hpala gameplay after almost 15 years, so TWW Prevoker it is.
in regards to the two different play styles for MW. Honestly I think it suites the spec just fine. I think trying to have a one size fits all type play style can be boring after a while and I like the whole "right tool for the right job" type deal blizz has put together for MW. It makes sense to me and it keeps things fresh.
Just noticed he doesn't have the green numbers for healing displayed! As a healer I enjoy those numbers so much!
I have the same opinion about the range limitations of Evoker, at least the non breath spells should be standard range.
Great discussion! I'm a Rsham main but last 2 seasons I've been Elemental due to it's insane Tier set. If there would be some sort of Riptide build possible for raid I can go for them. Mist raid builds are cringe for me but I love how well they fit into M+. Hpal is too much glare and not much feeling the effects for me. Maybe the hero talents and more adjustments fixed it so why not. Need to understand it's raid build. Always admire Disc but it is so reliant on Atonement that it gives me anxiety.
I healed my first 6 dungeons with disc yesterday and when the whole group got dmg it was tough sometimes. I also think it lacks some nice utilty unfortunately cause I would love the look of the holy effects. Holy seems more on the safe side but also lacks nice utility imo.
Once you understand ramping and proactive healing Vs reactive healing, disc just starts pumping. I was 3.2k Rio disc healer season 4 DF and as long as you understand damage patterns, you can proactively ramp and heal and you feel almost invulnerable, it's kind of insane. I would recommend disc to anyone and everyone, the way it forces you to think ahead will make you a better player on all the other healers
Feels like it's going to be another Holy Paladin or Resto Druid season, unless some other healer is broken beyond compare.
With augmentation bringing so much survivability, preservation is still downbad. I think shadow priest will continue being brought, so no priest healer, all other druid specs seem downbad, but maybe bear could be used (?), if they fix prot paladin, it could be prot paladin season, which means holy paladin won't be brought. Mistweaver seems like an acceptable replacement for holy paladin. Resto shaman, ehh, if it's overtuned maybe.

I agree with preservation evokers, they need to add more yards to their healing spells. An idea could be (considering they are quite mobile healers) is to give a choice node to either make the mobility more effiecient (like empowering spells can be castable during hover) or increase the yards of all the healing spells to 35-40 yards, I think that could be a fair option for people to pick between for a play style they are more comfy with
I played Evoker and Paladin. Only two healers I've enjoyed playing for a long time. I typically main H-Pal, but Evo was fun season 1.
I will be playing Holy Paladin as my main with a resto shaman and mistweaver alt. I really enjoyed Paladin before they nerfed them to the ground and I am liking the changes they are making. I'm hoping for a few more adjustments but it feels good now so I'm excited to see what that means and hope that leads to a fun raid experience. I raided as a resto druid all of dragonflight and with the tree pet and the direction its going I just don't feel excited to raid on a druid anymore. I might still keep it around to do some fun M+ runs but don't want to bring it back to raid with how it feels.
I enjoyed the video. I am resto druid main. I agree that Flourish should have been buff a little bit. But I really loved the change to 1 minute cooldown during dragonflight. I did Rashok progression and, if my ramp would come a little late, was a totally wipe for my guild. But I didnt enjoy how much mana it costed do all my things, wasnt funny at all. I hope the will remove all the mana trinkets from timewalking events, and will balance the mana cost of our ramp. Basically, we are useless withouth our ramp. Even during fyrak mythic, my ramp was a blast during hard moviment times. But I was useless during my Tranquility cast. Is really a bad skill. I love how it reduce the cooldown of our main spells, but most of the times was impossible to cast it. Or you was NEED an augumentation buff for moviment cast, or a paladin bubble was needs. I used my tranq not as healing cooldown, but as a cd reduction buff mostly. I hate that- I want being able to cast it while I am moving :c its not synchronised with our playstyle.

3rd alt Pres Evoker
The Range limitations for Preservation evoker make no sense. When it originally came out I think the idea was like, "Hey you've got this really powerful kit in terms of raid cooldowns and throughput, but you need to deal with this big downside."
But it just doesn't work because you can't have one healer that just does amazing HPS. It'd be like if one DPS does ridiculous damage. It will get nerfed and brought back in line eventually.
So the range just turns into a downside. There is no upside. If they overbuff Evoker and the justification is the range, I agree with it. But as long as it is within line with the other healing specs, it shouldn't be suffering a range penalty. Even the melee healer's melee healing abilities hit 40 yards now days. No reason Evoker shouldn't be 40 yards.
as a Normal/heroic only raider leaning Pres Evokes (i find the burst style fun, and offspecs are good, but wish Devastation was more wanted), Paladin (I keep coming back to, I never really mained one, Normally my offspecs are Range not melee, but monk was really fun), and Shaman (which checks all my boxes but I something just doesn't feel right when I use it. IDKY). So going to use the prepatch to experiment with. I hope everyone has fun find theirs!
I play resto Druid since vanilla with resto shaman close second. I will stay with Druid and go Balance in raid. The only reason I would stop playing Druid is because I hate the word/abreviation “DuDu” 🤣
I'll be re-rolling from Priest (Disc/Holy) to Resto Shaman, pretty much the same reasons stated here.. I was lucky that the new healer my guild recruited is a one-trick Holy Priest so I had the freedom to re-roll (which I already wanted to).
I'll still level the Priest as an alt in case we need it, and one of Mistweaver or H Pala.
I've played every healer but never really properly played HPal, so I think this time with the changes it's time to focus on Pala .
I main a Holy paladin but started Dragonflight playing pres. evoker but because of the range and the play style I went back to H paladin and just recently started playing H priest
@MadSkillzzTV what are your thoughts on Rdruid for M+? I'm hearing that Wildstalker is pretty bad compared to Keeper of the Grove in terms of healing so might not be good for pugs. Any other insights from your testing?
Shaman is my absolute favorite healer and its not looking to change, totemic is so good designed and doubles down on the shaman class fantasy.

I think given that with pres you still have to position dream breathe, temporarily anomaly and your flight breathe, the hard limitation should go
Resto shaman all the way for me. Been my main for both Shadowlands and Dragonflight. In that time I've been the backbone of my the guild's healing team. I always like the idea of branching out to a different class but shaman is my comfort zone and always drift back to it. Changes to shaman have only cemented my choice. But if I was forced to swap I'd say mistweaver would be my #2 and preservation would be my #3.
Hey Mad, obviously I have no clue about your video schedule and how busy you are. But do you think it's possible to make some how to play videos on healer classes? I believe quite a lot of people from classic are interested in returning, like myself, but having played a healer in shadowlands, it's been an absolute bombardment of information etc to learn all new specs. So yeah, not sure how your schedule looks like, but that would be really helpful
You’re not wrong at all. If evoker finally gets increased range I would immediately jump back. It’s an absolute tragedy that a spec was so abandoned in its own release expac. Now of course Aug played a huge role in that but frankly I don’t see pres becoming dominant even if it had 40 yd range.
Got a CE with the monk, cause I loved the AT build, made sense for a melee healer, and then didn't touched anymore when the build changed to be basically a caster, if I wanted to play a caster, I would play any of the 4 options that made sense to be caster lol

Range limitation is the main reason I cannot really get into Evoker or stay with it. Did it through season 1 of DF with the excitement of a new class but then swapped back to my beloved Resto and man, the "regular" range felt so frking good that I really don't wanna go back to Evoker.
Because of your videos, I'll playing resto shamman as main, with a DK or Monk as tank and a mage as DPS
Also, the skyfury buff, it is like press a button and get the buff or the totem?
15:21 about this, yeah I would like this class a LOT more if there weren't range limitations because right now this is my top 2 unfun class to play (being holy priest 1st) only for that issue.
I'll play pres evoker even without a range buff - although if another healer is head and shoulders above it the day before launch, honestly I will main that one because I'm still kind of burned after trying to main MW in DF S1 and having an awful time. But pres would end up being my main-alt and probably still favourite. There is something about accepting that ok, I just got forced to snap off Rewind unexpectedly, but the party is Echoed, Verdant Embrace is ready, and Emerald Communion is ready so that's my panic button now. I like having those deep layers of redundancies and working out what I can use as a combo even when all the biggest buttons are on CD. Echo gameplay just hits the spot for me.
But yeah, I'd love a range buff because there are absolutely times when some poor pug dps goes down, apologises for the mistake, and literally all he did wrong was run backwards when dodging swirlies and got out of my range. Pres can become an extra mechanic for the party and I understand how that can be annoying.
Pretty much this is my list as well. It would be resto shaman as my top right now and unless something changes that is likely the main. What holds back preservation evoker being first for me is the range limitation. I pug so often that the range feels terrible. In guild groups or in raids it probably is my favorite healer but that range limitation makes pugs an unfun nightmare.
I kinda lean more towards druid over the paladin/mistweaver but really all three of those are tied for third right now. I like how druid feels doing open world content and sometimes melee healers can feel bad although with the affix changes it is less of an issue since you won't have annoying melee affixes. It really would depend on how melee stacked my guild ends up being on which way I would go. If the meta is overly melee centric I rather not crowd it as a healer.
If the game released today it would be Shaman main with the druid as the first alt. The third character would be tied between paladin and evoker. More likely I would wait to see which other healers they make dragons able to be.
If they dont wanna buff the range of pres spells, please buff rescue. Increase the range of that and reduced the cd so i can atleast reposition ppl more frequently.

Im going Priest, Presvoker, Shaman and Druid as my warband and in that order (would probs pick holy pala over druid but my mate mains a prot pala and we just do m+).
I've carried my guilds healing team on priest for two expansions now so it will be hard to switch, its always such a consistent raid fill and I've played it since TBC so I'll always get it up to level as a main or alt. However, my new love is resto shaman. Since season 2 SL. Excited to main it in TWW.
My issue with presvoker is that u can't really make help/harms with the charge up abilities and that really clutters the keyboard. It is way easier with rsham.
I am presevoker Main, and i Saw Mist is A Dungeon so i know i need a new Main, the Last Boss ist pain with normal range
MadSkillzz, I've been meaning to ask, do you use a WA or an addon to flash the icon in the center of your screen when something comes off CD (eg. Chi-Jis, Stomp, Cen Ward, etc)? If it's a WA, is it publicly available?

I play this game at AOTC level, so not pushing high end content. Our guild is also a "play what makes you happy" kind of guild. I played preservation for all 3 seasons. I strongly believe that the way to fix preservation is to increase our single target spells to 40 yards and leave the empowered spells the way they are. Season 3 raiding was an absolute nightmare. Nymue was such a preservation FU. They want us to move around? Great, but don't design bosses in huge rooms where we are penalized for moving around. To see Aug get all these buffs that we've been asking for all through this xpac is a slap in the face. It's like they are taking all the feedback from Pres and Dev and funneling it into Aug.
One of the reasons I don't play Aug, is because at lower levels of gameplay, if you are playing with dps that aren't pushing great numbers, Aug sucks. It's better for me to take a turn as a healer or throw out consistent numbers as Dev than to buff lower dps players. I love Pres and Dev, they are fun specs to play and they don't have a lot of button bloat, but the range limitations on pres really do hurt. I don't like having to ask other players to change the way they play to accommodate a base limitation that no other healers have. I made it work in season 3 but it was not fun.
Disc. Evolker. MW. Only m+ content. I need help. I didn’t play season 4. I have played disc priest past two expansions. I am typically top 10 on server for my class. I like to push high content with off meta classes.
i really cant get my head around playing pres been trying for a few days now and it just doesnt come to me... however i absolutely love my priest right now they have and give everything i need except a kick still dont have a kick spell or a 2nd cc option outside of fear

Pres main, range is what it is. The mobility the min maxing if echos and unique play and healing profile outweighs the range for me.
Can and willing to play other healers as the guild requires though.

I love MW and rDruid in M+ but I cannot stand either of them play in raid. For me, I am 99% sure I will be staying with my Shaman in TWW. I want Evoker to change the range issue and in my M+ team we already have two Pallies (ret and prot).
If priest wasn't taken would it have made the list? Archon looks actually fun in both damage and healing.

For Preservation Evoker, they should remove range limitations for the casted abilities, except for the empowered abilities and perhaps Verdent Embrace.

Def Pres Evoker or Holy Palad
I love my MW Monk (Rating: 3276 m+) but i find myself in S4 being frequently declined in higher keys because MW doesn't have any utility. I mean Droods has MotW, bress, big damage, big heals etc. Shaman has a lot of interrupts, reincarnate, cc, hero/lust. Holy Priest has PI, big damage. Prevoker has hero/lust, big movement helping, great healing output, dispel bleed. MistWeavers, Holy Pally, Disc Priest (this one needs some minor fixes in order to work) are on limbo if you wanna pug. They really need to give some good important party tools for those healers.
I main MW too, with Resto Shaman as a backup. Bres is becoming a consumable in TWW, so we can have it on all classes that don't just have it. I love these classes because of the cc and interrupts they bring. I pug alot and hate that pugs can never find their interrupts on their bars.
Tbh MW is generally known as a much better pug healer than something like resto druid (perhaps not for s4 DF specifically) or prevoker. It has kick, RoP, aoe stun, incap, great self sustain, great healing output, great personals, great mobility, great st healing, mystic touch (not good for Exodia, but nice for some comps) etc. I wont say it is the healer with the most pros, but i think you are underestimating the kit that monk has if you pair it at the bottom with something like disc priest
K thanks guys. Wanted to main priest. Just levled to 68. I healed multiple dungeons and also played all builds. All of them seem lacking a bit and all of them feel a bit clunky. Sadface. If i want to do dmg i don't see a reason to play shadow when there is mage or warlock.

Im maining pres and alting hpal, even with the range issue. Hopefully range fights are kinda friendly
There is no range issue. You heal harder at shorter range. If you want more range, then accept that you will heal for less.
Melee should not get the Mastery + Windfury effect, that shits just not fair
I love playing disc in raids but for the most of it's history, it's felt really bad in M+. Low throughput, mediocre or bad damage, just always sweaty and revolving around PI. I feel like druid is the exact opposite.
After Bloodlust / Heroism they gave other classes the same buff so you were not forced to bring a Shaman. But it's back to always bringing a Shaman. That is so Blizzard.
is the shaman raid buff dispellable like arcane int or is it like battle shout? I assume it's dispellable

I feel Aug is too strong still. if you have a good group you are winning dps over a 3rd one, you win survivability and you win a ton of utility. in a mid-key pug group it makes almost no difference or is even worse than running 3 dds, but then there is a gap and it becomes broken... so imao its not really good balanced.
regarding preservation: i'm mixed about the range. there should be at least some spells without that limitation, as even the meeles can outrange-heal a preservation which is kinda strange. for all the charged/cone-evoker-specific casts i think its ok and even brings some interesting flair as it is different than the others and requires some more thoughts about positioning. but at least some casts should have a higher range to not be completely useless at some points.
I'll go back to my old main = resto shaman for S1 TWW
Hey. You didn't explain how priest healing is. Could really use more support of how bad both the priest healers are. They both seem outdated, holy has the highest 2 point nodes, and the lowest amount of capstones and disc has the worst healing profile.

I'd stop playing evoker if the range limitations got lifted, I feel like it adds a really nice extra part of skill expression.
Idk if I'd stop playing it, but I also like the limitation. It encourages mobility in a way that makes it feel unique.
