actually delighted that archon is looking pretty good, way more satisfying to play than I thought it would be, and the fact it uses void eruption, has 5% more stamina, a bigger void eruption/power infusion cooldown window and mind flay insanity is absolutely slamming right now... keeping my fingers crossed. Overlooked it with voidweaver looking so good on first impression but very pleasantly surprised with Archon rn. Still not totally happy, wish shadow went in a different direction in general, but taking positives where possible! Thanks for the video as ever

I really love the Mind Flay/Channeling way of play from SPriest since I've started playing this cursed game, to see that strong (compared with the Mind Spike) makes me really happy. I can't wait to use Void Torrent while moving on Raid/Dungeon, have been wishing for that for YEARS!!! Stay strong Publik, you're the main reason that makes me come back to this!

Loved the guide, I have no nostalgia for Cata/WOD/MOP so mind flay (Vanilla for the win!!) is king for me. Would love if they rework or remove Dark Ascension - beyond the visual, it’s a flavorless damage buff with no gameplay implications - I think they should remove and make the angel wing appearance a glyph to change your appearance during void eruption. Win for everyone - better gameplay with a visual nod to Cata/MOP/WOD nostalgia.
What about critical Mind Blasts boosting the damage of Shadowy Apparitions? That's the reason I use Mind Spike + Mind Melt currently because it buffs other parts of our kit whereas Mind Flay doesn't. Is Mind Flay still better given that?
That crit interaction is still very low, but yes that’s why Spike is an option for Voidweaver builds, just not clearly dominant. Archon doesn’t depend on apparitions or blast damage so it doesn’t really care about spike. You also have to factor in it’s not just base mind flay compared to mind spike/mind melt, you also get to put two points elsewhere in the middle section of the tree when taking flay.
Why the continued nerfs to single target especially void blast? Our pure single target on voidweaver is already mediocre at best, at least relative to the field.
I think they were trying to not make voidweaver so dependent on getting void blasts out. This is directly nerfing the need to pool mind blasts for voidweaver so could potentially be a good change if they compensate its damage elsewhere
Would you say Voidweaver or Archon will be the easier hero talent to play? I'm looking learning and stocking to the one for both M+ and Raid at this stage
Archon is simpler from an addition standpoint, but defaults to void eruption which adds an extra button to press. On the other hand voidweaver is a bit more involved but typically doesn’t use voidform. So honestly either one is likely a good choice for you
@@Publikwow Thanks - watched a few guides/tierlist saying that shadow is very difficult - so just concerned I'll not perform well - I am used to doing well with simpler specs like Ret or Frost DK haha

What're they gonna do? Scurry and reroll? People need to play what they have fun with and get good at it. People that can play a spec flawlessly will almost always dunk on meta chasers. It's always cringe to meta chase, everytime.
I've been doing a lot of Archon vs Voidweaver testing since these changes. Voidweaver still feels way better in dungeons due to having burst windows every 30 sec instead of 1min but Archon is definitely way ahead in ST. Big fan of the surge of insanity proc spam to be honest it's pretty fun and the fact they made mind flay insanity 1 gcd makes it feel so buttery.

As a main pvper, empowering mind flays than nerfing them doesn't work really much. Our dots already hit like nothing in pvp thanks to huge amounts of versatility, voidshift nerf is extremely unnecessary. Most classes that don't really on dots can dish out huge amounts of dmg in a very short time, making oneshots very possible. SPs and afflilocks don't have that luxury, neither does feral druid. I really don't understand why they've been gutting dot classes so much. Our spec tree still needs some refurbishing, some talents make no sense where they stand, and there's no rationale where certain talents are based on what they do, especially dot talents. Dark Evangelism is a rather weak talent that honestly nobody uses it, and screams of the void is on the wrong place. Idol of N'Zoth is extremely weak outside M+
Man i wish they consolidated Void form and Dark ascension. Dark ascention looks so silly, while VF looks really nice, i love void form, but DA is just so boring.
Classes that are getting mid expansion reworks are going to feel bad after the season they get reworked. They become meta, but there whole class makes no sense cause they get reworked based off the tier, and the season. Look at dh and h priests. They got changed based of there tier and now are in the worse position.
Yeah this is a major problem imo. “Reworks” need to have a longer period afterwards where things feel good. Right now feels like it’s usually just one season and usually that’s just tuning
@Publikwow another point will be the amount of feedback will be alot less. Say after a month they rework priest. People will still be using there attention on retail and there won't be proper feed back. Look at mage paladins monks shamans. They get proper feedback cause season 4 is what ever. If priest does end up get stuff, I fear it won't be on a scale a like the beta classes, which they really need.
Class design/encounter design( two sides same coin) and effort put into them is getting absurd, designing different types of puzzles, and giving some classes 1 tool and other Swiss army knives, and others they are taking their tools away to give to other classes/ making better versions where the original classes tool seems like it's from wish/walmart/ we have that tool at home

I was very disappointed to hear you say archon is better in most cases. It's such a boring set of hero talents. I tried playing it some while leveling on beta and I don't think I made it a full hour because voidweaver is just so much cooler.
Shadow priest is turning into old shaman now your having to do so much stacking and so much extra work to get dps out. Why is blizzard so bad at balancing the game lol im always going to main a shadow priest in its ups and downs but but dang

Trying to decide what to main in the war within, how we feeling about Shadow Priest? My heart has been shadow since original Vanilla.
Can't talk about gameplay aspects, but playing a shadowpriest for lore reason in war within and midnight sounds like fun
lower the channel time on mind flay is huge.. would be best if they just make it so we can cast while moving.. but 1.5 secs is a ok change

This is definitely a bug. That talent is having a lot of problems right now on live and beta. It’s been acknowledged by the dev team but no ETA yet

There are unfortunately 0 interactions between those two so unless you are hyper optimizing for mass AoE it’s usually not worth it
