Gather, gather and keep gathering. There is no “optimal” gathering time or strategy, just gather everything you see. The longer you gather the more results you will see. There’s optimal paths depending on zones in order to hit all the nodes efficiently but you just figure that out as you go. Hell it is even made easier if you use an addon like Gathermate where it marks where a node is after you gather it once

Do we have to already be max level gatherers prior to the expansion? Will we be at a disadvantage in any way if we start from scratch in the new expansion?
Everyone starts over with new profession trees reguardless of how long they have done it. It won't make much of a difference at all. Only the profession tool secondary stats will carry over, which won't really matter much for very long. It's basically a clean slate.
Loved the video! And while I'm learning more to herbalism I want to ask for others opinions as well. I plan to make a group focused Chef. So I will be focusing on cooking and alchemy, to provide food and flasks for a group (mythics and raids) For this I will obviously also go into fishing, but unsure of my second profession choice. Herbalism or skinner. Herbalism is mainly for alchemy of course, whereas skinning is to focus on gathering meats, and selling whatever hides I collect at the same time. It will be on my Mistweaver monk pandaren, so no benefits to either (just a food buff) any perspective or opinions are highly appreciated ^^
I'm not as versed on cooking and uncertain I'll cover it, but there's a limited use of herbalism and skinning for cooking. I imagine it'd be fun for roleplay/flavor but not exactly goldmaking, but there're no wrong answers.
Your answer is herbalism. Full Stop. Cooking this go round is focused on filleting all your fish types into fillets, your meat into steaks and soup, and chopping your mycobloom, then turning them into dishes. Mycobloom is the base common herb found everywhere, So you will need a lot of it for alchemy and cooking.
It still boggles my mind that dwarves dont have a bonus to mining. I mean dwarves digging too deep for gems and gold is just ingrained in all our minds.
It'll really really depend on the gathering economy. There's a non zero chance of there being no high rank materials on the market (at least early on) and yeah people will settle for cheap potions or crafts.
That's incorrect, professions will be available but spec points won't. We don't know exactly what that means though. It might mean we can pick up knowledge (treasures) but not use it. It might mean first crafts won't give points until after the reset, but I'm leaning towards the former. I have no doubt patron crafting orders won't be available until after general launch though.
Lures were a complete waste of time and knowledge points in DF so hopefully they’ve changed something to make it worthwhile in TWW. Fishing lures were utterly useless as well so again I hope they’ve given them a rework. It’s quite frustrating to have 1/3 of your entire skill system dedicated to dead end specializations that offer no redeeming qualities or opportunities to make gold.
@@SoulSoBreezy Yeah, I unfortunately got so disheartened with the new crafting system post-launch that I took a long break from the game until around S4 and wasn’t aware of that particular opportunity when it was added. Live and learn I guess. My approach to crafting this time will mostly focus on making things for myself while looking out for opportunities to make gold if I’ve got the skill to do it. I’m not wanting a repeat of my DF crafting experience.
@@SoulSoBreezy I just wanted to add that while it’s great that Blizzard eventually added an item that offered substantial gold making opportunities to lure crafters, it would be preferable to have the specialization offer desirable crafts from the start, so that it could be a day to day source of income for skinners. This as opposed to it being a dead end spec that suddenly gained purpose months after launch due to a specific item obtained by lurecrafters becoming desirable to others. It’s not healthy to have your spec’s value defined by a singular item across the entirety of the expansion.
@@go1dengamer359 Not on Turalyon EU, unfortunately. 5 silver carapace 1800,1 gold is 1900, before AH cut. hides are even worse. Markets can change though, so I will be keeping a look out. (tbh I didn't even remember that you could refine the rare ones, so thank you for the reminder).
Yeah it is taking way too much material and time just make one item and getting all the skills built up for getting new recipes is just friggin nuts, can’t even enjoy making stuff for myself let alone auctions
Quick question will gathering be awailable to early acces? And if so do you think it will destroy the prices compared to dragonflight in the first 3 days? I made all the gold that i needed in the first 2 days of df with gathering afterwards i didnt need to interact with professions anymore except write to a crafter every now and then I bope this will be the same.
@@Buildonsound You can easily earn more than 1M gold too, if you farm hard. The first 3 days are the most important for gathering, as that's when the goblins buy all mats needed to level professions.
Good video. You missed camouflaged ore and herbs. Theres a flask alchemists makes that allows you to see them. Ive been using it on beta. About 40% of spawns are camouflaged - and they tend to be the rarer spawns - so suddenly you find aqirite in isle of dorn. The second point about what class is so many of the best spawns are in caves... and being able to use druid stealth in caves is another major advantage to druid gatherers. BTW there is a number of orbinid and luredrop spawns on the isle of dorn (even not camouflaged)... if you go looking in caves. Skinning could do with a more detailed video - there are number of rare and common materials you get from skinning - and three ways to get them - skinning, using lures and using the skinning knife. You need to know which mobs and where to use lures to get them - and a couple took ages to track down.
Not in audio but I mention the phial when talking about tools. I don't typically recommend venturing into caves just for nodes, hidden or not. At least for me it snaps me out of my rhythm and makes the overall farm feel longer.
I'm sorry, Soul, but the chances of me putting the minutest amount of extra effort to unlock steady flight are zero. Actively wanting steady flight for any reason makes you either a bot or a mole person, and I want nothing to do with either.
I used to love dual gathering mining and herbing but with the profession revamp. And each mat having 3 ranks it got to be a lot of bag clutter. And not to mention the common ore being way too common ore imo
Nothing will make gathering worthwhile. The unified regional ah combined with bot farms drags the price down to near vendor value. The supply vastly outstrips demand
I get what you're saying but even with all that I made millions just from skinning this expansion. No group farms either just regular skinning. Don't be scared of the bots but i guess that leaves the mats for me. At the end of the expansion you will be right though, they won't be worth much. By then I won't care either. Ill be using all the gold I made to buy cheap mats to make everything I want on all my alts for a discount. Like on leatherworking I made $500,000 gold this weekend selling leather armor patches because my leather and material costs are so low but the patches still sell for $1,200. a piece.
Correct. Supply of R2/R3 materials is effectively being cut in half while there's a strict dependence on R3 materials. You might be right and these changes are only delaying the inevitable, but I'm very excited to see how this plays out
I'm happy for everyone who likes to new professions but I hate them. I did professions from the day I started until now.Which is bad basically since wrath. But I hate all the crafting stuff having Different ranks it sucks. I like crafting when I don't feel like leveling or doing dungeons or anything else. It would be nice when doign editing and you put name of ore, herb, etc to put icon with name and text. Would be easier to understand.
Do we get AA from first time gather? If so how much pls?
I don't think the best is to aim for a better quality. Rather than mine in the mount at a super speed
@@SamMathewsOfficial Thanks for the info!
No. As mentioned having tools ahead of time is a slight help but I wouldn't suggest going through the trouble now if you don't already have them.
6:22, it works with mining too?
no
im very happy all these gather bots are out there farming for me. herbs have never been cheaper!
Now folks will be putting lvl 1 mats in on public orders...hoping the crafter don't notice. Along with no mats..but then there is the ignore button😂
Loved the video! And while I'm learning more to herbalism I want to ask for others opinions as well.
I plan to make a group focused Chef. So I will be focusing on cooking and alchemy, to provide food and flasks for a group (mythics and raids)
For this I will obviously also go into fishing, but unsure of my second profession choice.
"Maybe ppl will settle for a lower rank item" Is this your first day in wow ? :D
It'll really really depend on the gathering economy. There's a non zero chance of there being no high rank materials on the market (at least early on) and yeah people will settle for cheap potions or crafts.
How about you try not being rude..
@@marthalawson350 Is this your first day on Internet ?
if you ask this i wonder if its your first day
@@SoulSoBreezyyou best believe in early access I’m gathering so I can over charge the day 1players
all 3 ores are just as common as each other i think
Is Inscription next?
tossup between this and eng. Waiting for the next build
Fwiw, I think they've confirmed during early access TWW gathering professions will be completely unavailable
@@SoulSoBreezyah thanks for the correction. So profession progression is disabled, good to know
Lures were a complete waste of time and knowledge points in DF so hopefully they’ve changed something to make it worthwhile in TWW. Fishing lures were utterly useless as well so again I hope they’ve given them a rework. It’s quite frustrating to have 1/3 of your entire skill system dedicated to dead end specializations that offer no redeeming qualities or opportunities to make gold.
I personally made millions selling Obsidian Cobrascale during Season 2-4, definitely was time well spent
It shouldn't take 5 mats to refine the next one up. It's highly unlikely that the upgrade is worth 5 times the price.
Extreme scenario, but if R3 material supply is 0, refining those R2 mats is definitely worth it
Since one gold skin is 4000 and 5 silver is about maybe 300 a pop it is brother lol
Yes it will and no those 3 days don’t matter
Yes and if you don’t purchase the early access you’ll lose out on about 1M gold :/
@@kafaen2 such bull, there is no guaranty you will make that due to the amount of people competing for the exact same thing.
“No life farming” LOL!! Gold!!! Honestly if Blizz just gets rid of the region AH i think players will make much more gold, I could be wrong though.
I like your eyebrows.
Poggers, lets get rich ASAP
They’ve made professions so confusing for new players.
Even for Vanilla players lol
We have been asking for a more complex system since FFXIV it would seem. Can’t please everyone
Better than being useless
Not really I figured it out in 15 minutes lmao..
I would rather have professions with depth, over just cookie cutter craft preraid and consumables system
I'm sorry, Soul, but the chances of me putting the minutest amount of extra effort to unlock steady flight are zero. Actively wanting steady flight for any reason makes you either a bot or a mole person, and I want nothing to do with either.
You pretty much have to put effort to NOT unlock steady flight but I respect the principle
im going mining / JC
solid choice
Over charging hmmmmm 😅
please let us reset these talents pts lol
Like on leatherworking I made $500,000 gold this weekend selling leather armor patches because my leather and material costs are so low but the patches still sell for $1,200. a piece.
Great guide!!❤
Correct. Supply of R2/R3 materials is effectively being cut in half while there's a strict dependence on R3 materials. You might be right and these changes are only delaying the inevitable, but I'm very excited to see how this plays out
This whole system needs to be nerfed. Surely there’s some happy medium between this overly complicated shit and what we used to have
it's not that complicated.
It’s not complicated.
I'm happy for everyone who likes to new professions but I hate them. I did professions from the day I started until now.Which is bad basically since wrath. But I hate all the crafting stuff having Different ranks it sucks. I like crafting when I don't feel like leveling or doing dungeons or anything else. They turned it into a shore.Make it a damn fucking Is crafting game and give us back Is professions
Man professions in DF and TWW are overcomplicated.... Over-engineered.....
And personally i like it
This is WAY too convoluted for me. Good thing I'm mostly playing classic and only joining retail for special events such as Plunderstorm or Pandaria Remix.
So you didn't play dragonflight at all? This is copy paste, less changes then crafting knowledge trees.
this expansion with early access etc is establishing wow as a subscription + pay to win game. not that is wasn't before but now its official.
Overall, the changes still aren't good. These new systems since DF are terrible. And all the profession managers are all women with beards. For the first time since Pandaria, I'm not looking forward to this new expac. This sucks.
First
Lord knows you can’t make vids about class power since they change everything 24 hours later. Hope we get something more stable that doesn’t need reworked each quarter.
I haven't watched it yet, but unless this shows me how to set up and run a bot without getting banned then it's not actually helpful.
