I bought a Bullworker when I was 20 years old from an ad I saw in a muscle magazine. I enthusiasticlly read the user manual front to back. Unfortuneatly, I only used it once or twice and it went into the closet.
When I turned around 40 I took it out of storage and started using it seriously. Definitely saw a difference in muscle tone and size but not bulky. I am 75 now and still using it with good success.I beleive it has helped me, along with taking key supplements, to stay in great health. I have the strength and stamina I had in my 20's and look more like 60.

Cool Mike. It was a great seeing you demonstrate all those variations, especially on a chair. It takes me right back to Atlanta in '74. I had a small apartment on the 9th floor of a converted hotel. The Bullworker was about perfect for the small space I had. I remember one exercise that had you jam one handle up into the corner of the door frame, then grab the other end of the tube and cables with a hammer grip, and press up. It was for shoulders, of course, and a little iffy because it could slip off the frame and turn into a ceiling punch. There was definitely a learning curve, as I distinctly remember hitting myself in the face(and other places) more than once. Thanks again!

I love it Martin. Not so much you getting hit in the face, but I love those classic stories of using these types of machines and equipment from back in the day.

I stopped using weights 2 years ago. I wanted a piece of equipment I could still use when I get older that wouldn't cause me to get injured when I get older.
I just happened to find a s2 by mistake. Using it toned my muscles great in the first 2 months of having it,and it didn't make me use a lot of energy,
whereas when I did weights for years, I would have low energy spikes throughout the day, along with the risk of getting injured if I kept using weights when I got old.
From watching the videos, it looked like there was a medium difference in smoothness and a low recoil.
    For the S3 model
Thoughts before retrieving would work my muscles harder than the previous model, which I still have, which is the S2.
Using the S3 in person, the smoothness is a big difference from the medium. I thought it was looking at the video.
Even though I have been used to the black spring in the s2 since last year, in the s3, I have to get used to the first spring again and work my way up to the last one because the s3 works my muscles harder. I knew that before getting the S3, I would have to get used to all springs because my muscles would be worked with no limits.
The S3 not only has a small recoil, but as I said, the smoothness is a big difference from the S2.
I noticed that I can stop the spring at any distance and push from there, but with the S2, I can't because it has that bad recoil, so whatever point I stop at, I usually just push from there.
The feeling you can feel with each rep is that the muscles are being worked smoothly with a good amount of pressure, even when using the first spring. Each rep is fully controlled.Get the S3; it's amazing.

Mike as always a great follow up review. I have every Bullworker product. I also noticed that on the steebow the rubber grips do not hold on the cable as well as the classic. They are loose. The grips and cables look to be the same size. There must be something different between the two. I know they released the 60th anniversary version of the old X5 model. This is the sweet spot being 28 inches long it is right in between the two sizes. The other big difference is the X5 uses two webbed straps on either side, unlike the steel cables on the classic and steelbow. The mechanics are also different how they are connected to the tubes. With the straps on the X5 it gives more range of motion, travel and also variable resistance. If you hold one strap on each side, you have less resistance and more travel. If you hold both straps more resistance and less travel. The original X5 had a non-removable spring and came in two different power levels if I recall correctly. The new X5 has the changeable springs, which will bring it to a new level. Chrisman did two videos on this new mode. It is also a limited run of 100 units and it is, made in AMERICA. Hence the price of $500.00. My guess is they did not invest in a new design of this complexity to make this limited addition only model. My guess is we will see a mainstream version for a lower price in the very near future. I would love to get my hands on one of these to see if it is the holy grail of the Bullworkers. Mike maybe Chrisman can loan you one for a review.

Thanks Vinny for the very informative comment. I did see that video preview of the X5. It looks awesome. And you’re right, it looks like the ideal sweet spot among the models. I especially like the ability to increase the range of motion with the dual single strings. that would be awesome if I could check it out and review it.

I remember your original review of the product and initially not being very impressed with the device, but you mentioned using outside your gym and just having it out and available to quickly pick up and use. That alone made me look a bit deeper into the device, and I ended up buying one. I quickly fell in love with the device and have since purchased both versions as well as the Iso-Flow and Iso-bow. I love their simplicity and versatility. They are great to use when traveling also.

      @hybridresistance  5 месяцев назад +1

Thanks Andrew, awesome points. I was going to get into that in more detail in the video, but for the sake of time I didn’t. In my initial review I mentioned how I was trying to chase the pump so to speak by doing some faster reps. I personally get a lot more benefit out of it now that I go at slower tempo and use it outside of my designated training times. but I agree it’s definitely an incredibly versatile compact little device.

They are both good, but different. Like Chrisman said think of the classic as the barbell and the steel bow as the dumbbells. I agree with you Mike, that the smaller steelbow with the shorter spring gets harder faster. The steelbow is good for people with shorter arms and young adults. If I had to have only one I guess I would go with the classic. You can do more with it.

Like others, your initial review was not perceived as overall positive. You mentioned that you used the device while chasing a pump. I get and understand that point of view, yet the device can be much more. I too, initially just had it laying around for occasional use. However, during the lockdowns I purchased a second, newer model (with interchangeable springs), then started to focus on the bow classic workouts and challenges that Chrisman Huges has posted on the Bullworker RUclips channel. From there, I purchased a couple of books (programs) authored by Marlon Birch. It is this programming by Marlon Birch that opened up the overall effectiveness of the Bullworker Classic for me. When you purchase the books, you are buying the programming. I believe that is a very useful complement to the Bullworker. For some, it is the only too that they utilize. For others, it is just another tool in the toolbox. I now utilize it as another tool to complement my sliding bench (Bayou Fitness), and my dumbbells. and last week used one of Chrisman's follow along workouts from His Stronger series playlist. I can now fully appreciate this tool and reap its benefits. And recommend it's use to many home gym enthusiasts.

Thanks for the informative comment my friend. Chrisman actually did send me the book as well (I forget the name though off hand). It was definitely interesting, but I can't say I'd stick to a stand along bull worker program.

@oldmanmopar5380 - Oh yes, they do work. Back in the 70's I found most younger guys became discouraged and gave up too soon because of the excessive resistance from having only one spring. They lost interest fast and the Bowflex ended up in the closet unfortunately. Try one of the new 'Bowflex Classics' with the 5 springs in resistance from light to heavy to choose from.
