Looking a long time for the right teacher I can learn from. Your lessons exactly hit the way I can learn any further developing my skills. Thank you very much!
There is some written stories about Jimmy Page being part of this Version recording session...my source is written “Several music writers had identified Jimmy Page a session guitarist at the time as participating in the recording of this song , although which part is his contribution is unclear “....
Thank you thank you thank you. I learned this song decades ago but you have provided me with some much needed clarity that really smoothed out my picking technique. I highly recommend your site to all. Subscribed
WoW! Sweet Thankz 4 the share And what A-hole would down thumb just to be the Whole A Keep up the awesome work love the oldies just found you a few videos back so got alot of catching up to do again thank you!
This record had GLORIA on side a &this gem on side B. JUST showed how good some random rock players did there work in the 60s. That is an exquite blues riffing intro
This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos and I love your voice, also quick question is it possible to play this on a classic guitar? I’m new to learning guitar but this is one of my favourite solos
this is not the bass line go back and listen and the bass is playing 8 th notes in a 2 feel with a pic. and very fast which they sped up the tape the drummer is playing a straight 8th rock feel in 2 or four however you want to count it 1 and 3 is base drum or in 2 just 1 on bass drum second guitar is playing simpel 8th feel chuck berry part root e 5th b and then 6 th 8th notes ryth etc
Here’s a fact. On the them recording of this song it is actually played in F with NO capo. Which shows how much control he has over the slide part flowing so seamlessly into the pentotonic scale in F
Obviously a few thousand people liked this, but I'm not a fan of this type of lesson that doesn't teach you anything but a sequence of almost correct mechanical movements. You may be learning a song, but not how to PLAY on the guitar. At no point do we get to see the sequence played through for a whole verse. Picking direction is shown, but we don't get taught about up-down picking technique. The bass part shown around 2:20 is incorrect: it should be alternating between a fretted G and the open E, not a fretted F#. How about talking about how it's all minor pentatonic based and uses the first position blues scale with a little extension on the high strings? The use of the flat 5 (Bb) on the second phrase as a "blue" note for dissonance. A hammer on for the B in the last lick is the correct way to play it, and sounds a lot better than picking each note. Just to be clear: this is not a criticism of Billy (he honestly seems like a nice guy), it's just a commentary on this lesson. I've been playing for over 45 years and now I'm a stodgy old fart.
Thanks for the quality control. You are of course right about the bass line and the hammer on at the end. It may be worth noting though that this video was not primarily made for RUclips, but rather in response to a specific request from my site members. As such, it is pitched with a minimum of theory-based explanation and quite deliberately mechanistic. In general I prefer, like you, to look deeper into what lies behind the choice of notes in a song. We are probably both stodgy old farts ;-)
This tune is in not difficult at all, in fact I played it by ear without even really detail practicing it as the guitar sequences are all bases on a pentatonic scale.
Them is such a forgotten, their so good

No, the otherway about.
@@colincampbell4261 👍👍😄
Loved it - helped me greatly to nail the notes & timing of such a classic song/riff. Very cool!
Great song, awesome job again teaching it. How about Mystery Train by The Band from The Last Waltz? Seems like it's right down your alley.

Muchísimas gracias. Saludos
Very, very nice. Is that an Ibanez Les Paul model?
most groovy
My father was friends with van before he left for Australia in 1962. They jammed this song many times. I unfortunately have no guitar talent
billy harrison? thought it was page. does page say whether he did or didn't play the intro and lead?
Angus Young plays a pretty mean “Baby please don’t go”.
this is not the bass line go back and listen and the bass is playing 8 th notes in a 2 feel with a pic. and very fast which they sped up the tape the drummer is playing a straight 8th rock feel in 2 or four however you want to count it 1 and 3 is base drum or in 2 just 1 on bass drum second guitar is playing simpel 8th feel chuck berry part root e 5th b and then 6 th 8th notes ryth etc
What Ibanez are you playing?
Nice guitar, what is it?
thank you sir
Lightnin Hopkins got it from Big Joe Williams. Black people made this song & the beat that went with it
You’re playing the wrong notes at 2.21 and 7.00, and missing out notes in the run downs, e.g. at 3.37
At 3.28, 3.30, 3.35 & 3.37 the D pulls off to open B. Between 6.43 and 6.47, E pulls off to open D, B pulls off to open A. (A few examples).
No like a smart pants

Budgie anyone?
how about here comes the night

Your guitar needs a fret job - BTW: Them's recording was not recorded in 'F'. It was recorded in 'E' and was then speeded up. I know. I was there.
Speeded up 😂 you mean tuned up
And I guessed
You sound more like Piers Morgan than Piers Morgan sounds like Piers Morgan.
White guys? Why? Lightning Hopkins must be too difficult.
this lesson is better if you put it on 2x speed. Otherwise , you will loose your mind
Sorry der spielt das nie auf einer normal gestimmten Gitarre.🤦🏻♂️🥳🤣🤣🤣
Wieso nicht?
Too slow
Thank you.
