I remember the first time I heard this, listening to radio Luxembourg in bed back in the sixties. People my age will remember the station used to fade in and out. They played some great music and this one is just awesome, sounds as good now as it did then. I can even remember Luxembourgs jingle. it was the great 208, the ringa ding dinging station of the stars lol. Happy days.
The Royal Ruler and likewise great DJ's from the mid 60's onwards. It is hard to believe that there was only one hour a week of international music on Ireland's only radio station. Commercial radio stations were illegal in the dark ages and "foreign" music was frowned upon by the cultural luddites in charge of the very limited airwaves in those times. Now we have gone full circle, a huge amount of souless foreign music with little or no depth, endurance or singability. Nobody sings songs at work or in their daily lives anymore. They are not encouraged to do so. This is sad. It would be nice to have catchy songs with a singable chorus that last at least a year so that ordinary people can learn them and enjoy them as something to be sung.
Oh the memories come flooding back. Saturday night dance halls, nervous boys and girls, hormones going ballistic, amazing energy in the room and live bands pumping out music raw and loud that said 'go on I dare you not to tap your feet and move'. Maybe not the original version of the song, but definitely the best. Well in my not so humble opinion anyway.

I have seen some. Page has even said many things he was supposed to of played on aren't him.
One of the best vocal and guitar performances of the British Invasion.
Que canción tan grandiosa y que grupazo era Them, lastima que no se le dio la importancia que se merecían y también destacar la gran voz de Van Morrison. Fueron de los grandes de la Ola Inglesa.
Had never heard of this incredibly cool band!
My very first vinyl record. Kicks ass!
This is a fabulous song.
Lol, I heard it on Love Island tonight so I had to find out who it was.
Fantastic!!!! But besides the fabulous singer.. What a guitarist!!!!!!! Never heard of this band before (got the repeat with Budgie)
Emperor Roscoe.
It was written in 1935 and recorded in 1965 by THEM (a Northern Irish rock/pop band) when Van Morrison was singing with them.
1964.
Really?? Eh? How can this be?
Yes, but Big Joe Williams recorded it in 1935 -ruclips.net/video/g22l1hnAnlA/видео.html
Do u know what show this was? Not american bandstand...right?
I noticed you said when Van Morrison was playing with "them".
Damn I love this song, it's one of my favorites from my youth day's. So much great music & great times to be alive & so many beautiful "chicks"

Absolutely one of the best songs ever.
