      I think the "friend" is jealous of what OP considered her good fortune. I'd let go of that friend, because why is she getting people divided right before the wedding?
      If she was a true friend she would've kept this conversation private. Her feelings are valid but guilt tripping OP before her wedding, giving her an ultimatum, and getting others to join in to make OP feel bad about A DRESS is manipulative behavior.

  • @princessmarlena1359

    Last Story: No, Caitlin doesn’t get to dictate what OP can and cannot wear to her own wedding. My sympathies for Caitlin regarding her husband cheating, but she needs to stop being such a victim. As a compromise, maybe OP could alter the wedding dress? Or better yet, if Caitlin has a fit over something that isn’t even hers anymore, then the friendship isn’t worth a damn and OP should end the friendship.

    Last story: NTA. It was a total coincidence that the dress from the thrift store happened to previously belong to her friend. There’s no way she would’ve known it was the same one. The dress could also be her something old and something borrowed cause it was donated to the thrift store by her friend.

  • @furansus
    @furansus 9 месяцев назад +36

    Last story: OP is not the jerk. She found a dress, she bought it. It was a crazy coincidence but if OP didn't remember as it's been many years, it's likely most people didn't remember either. Her "friend" is starting drama and sabotaging her. No one, not even OP would know if she didn't start a stink over it.
    I think she's jealous OP is marrying in what was probably her dream dress.
    Why is OP getting an ultimatum over a dress her "friend" gave up?
    The whole "is a dress worth more than the friendship?" should go both ways. I think the friendship is already doomed.
    It's probably not even about the friend's ex. Her friend doesn't like that she got her old dress for cheap when it most likely cost her a lot.
    NTA

    I believe in the last story if a dress is the reason why she wants to end the friendship then that's just how the cookie crumbles. Yes that day was painful for her but yes she did move on and had a family and taking out finding a dress that fits you and makes you feel good about yourself just because it looks like her wedding dress from her first wedding is really cruel and rude. Especially when you were there for her for a long time. And wanting to use the money for a wedding dress on your kid is a beautiful thing to hear because I never really see someone doing that. But at the end of the day I don't believe you're an ahole. Tbh if she couldn't be happy for you and come to your wedding over a dress costing 30 dollars then just find a new friend

    In my opinion, the friend is being really selfish, I understand that you found out your husband was cheating on you on your wedding day, however, that should not be a reason for her to not allow the original poster to wear the dress to her wedding, we also must think about that most people don’t have enough money to buy a wedding dress, these dayswedding dresses are very expensive. With that being said, I understand both sides of the story. However, at the end of the day, the OP should wear that dress to her wedding.

    Story 1: Yeah that Karen was a complete bag, but i throwing more stones at management and corporate here. Do they seriously believe that all their customers are going to be honest? If so, then they are complete dullards. If i were the OP and had proof that this Karen was lying and the management was still doing this, then i would probably file some kind of grievance with the labour board or maybe even sue them... especially if the OP was fired, but luckily the OP wasn't. I absolutely hate management like that.
    Story 2: Yeah, as someone who has been a cook for 20+ years, there always is a huge difference between higher end restaurants and events and lower tier chaind and whatnot. People suck all around. If the OP is able, they need to leave, and like, yesterday. OP is need of a better, more pleasant job.
    Story 3: While that new rule was rather stupid... rules are still rules... but even moreso, why on earth would that dumb Karen think that she can return the costume that was worn by 4 kids already? Definitely need to send it to a thrift store or just toss it in the dump.
    Story 4: Okay, either the gf here has some kind of unknown or undiagnosed mental issue here, or she has been 100% enabled most of her life to have this kind of attitude. If she's having tantrums like this all the time, then something tells me she likely acted like this when she was younger. Maybe the therapist can be helpful for her, but i think its going to be a tough hill to climb.
    Story 5: I dont think that the OP would be a jerk for wearing the dress, but it's probably not a great idea... unless Caitlin gave her blessing on it. I get dress shopping isn't easy for a lot of women, but this is still going to be a tough one. Some women are very territorial when it comes to clothing... but wanting to end the friendship is extreme. To prevent this, Caitlin should've just shredded the dress rather then just donate it to a thrift shop where someone else could have it.

    Last story: Honestly when I heard the narrators opinion about how the op was being a massive jerk for wearing the dress I was shocked, because in previous videos other people pull petty crap like this and they would be like why are they acting this way. Sure the friend wore this at her first wedding to a cheating jerk, but I also have been in similar circumstances where I spent 700 on a wedding dress and ended up with a cheater as well. And I also held on to the dress for years after the fact. When I got rid of the dress I also gave it to a second hand seller, and if any of my friends ended up picking up that dress for their wedding I would feel happy that they found something they like. Because when I let the dress go I let that relationship go, and I also moved on with my life with a new partner. This "friend" of the op is just being petty and toxic because she isn't over her ex which blows my mind because she is married with kids. Like seriously lady if I had been her friend I would have asked her the hard question. Why does it matter what dress I wear on MY wedding day? Grow up. Also narrator shaming her for finally finding something that makes her happy and comfortable is way out of line. Shame on you.

  • @Bunny_15-Horse.19
    @Bunny_15-Horse.19 9 месяцев назад +2

    And then the last story she literally states that she is having financial problems and that they’ve been engaged for over five years because she can’t afford getting a dress or the wedding. Her friend is being petty just because the wedding dress fits her. She can’t find one that fits her correctly might not be her size and yeah it was 30 bucks that was that might be a steal for her that might be expensive in for her who knows her friend is already gotten married. I think that that if her friend doesn’t want her to wear or get married, wear the dress that her friend is stupid and petty.

  • @lavenderpotato5734

    I'm pretty sure the saying "the customer is always right" is supposed to refer to things like weird orders in restaurants, like literally burnt food or a sandwich that's just pickles and bread. They want it, they pay for it, they eat it...keep any judgement you pass to yourself.

    • @Nyghtking
      @Nyghtking 9 месяцев назад +1

      "The customer is always right" is suppose to refer to the customer knowing what it is they want, and you're job being to be able to find said thing and/or an alternative, it's not suppose to mean you bend over backward to do everything the customer says or to assume the customer is always correct and telling the truth at all times.

      I feel like the friend needs to get over it since she has a new relationship and everything with kids so it was a long time between then and where she is now and her hanging onto this shows she isn't over the man that broke her and shouldn't take that out on her friend over a dress that fits her and was cheap. I would say at that point she don't need a friend like that

    Story #4: I think you're being a little too harsh there, Nickel. If you've ever lived in poverty, then you find out really early that you CANNOT afford luxuries. That wedding dress that she found for 30$? The fact it fit? That is literally a miracle to someone who barely makes ends meat.
    I'm not saying that the friend should just cave, but a little understanding at their financial situation is needed. When you aren't making enough money, you have you take your breaks when you get them, and the friend should have been willing to compromise a little. There is no reason to cut the OP out. Dress over friendship? That goes both ways, she's putting the dress over her friendship with the OP.

    For the last story a wedding dress shouldn't define a future that never happened. It should define a future that is already under way. Its a dress thats 30 bucks that fits the op especially with her chest size and there is no guarantee her friend wouldn't see the dress again if someone else bought it because for all anyone knows the pwrson the dress ends up with could be in an accident and die and pics of that oerson in the dress could end up on social media and shed see it anyway and be reminded of her traumatic past

    Last story: The fried gave up that dress, its no longer hers, and so what if it holds bad memories for her? Shes alreafy remarried and put it behind it. If owning a dress and wearing it is what ruines the friendship, then that was a shitty friendship to begin with.
    The narrator talks about thinking about the friends feelings about that dress. Yet, wint even consider the ops feelings. She expressed how she feels about her body figure, not to mention how long it took her to ind a dress that fits perfectly. The narrator is saying that op's feelings dont matter anymore then her friends feelings.

So either way OP's friend is going to be reminded of that awful time, hell, she'll be reminded because its a damn wedding... I can see why she's uncomfortable with it, but isn't the reason she pawned it off instead of throwing away, that she probably wanted someone to buy and use it later anyways?
