One thing it'd recommend is to get an alternator conversion kit. The alternator comes with a new drive on the end. I bought one for my Ford 4400. One other thing I did was remove the cable from the housing and coat it with grease and reinstall it. It runs cooler and prevents corrosion.

FYI a number two Robertson screwdriver bit chucked up in a drill works great to turn a speedometer or mechanical tachometer.
Once again... the cable curse!
