If I was banished to a desert island and was allowed but ONE female singing voice for my confinement, it would be Joan Baez.
A great choice, I must say!
I saw her in 1970, meanwhile her husband was in jail to refuse to go to Wietnam... She just gives me a little more of strenght to "take the road" a few monthes later. I'm still "on the road". (She wasn't the only one, Country Joe and others of the kind also PUSH me to travel and play folk all over. I'm glad, i'm still here around to talk about, and my mind NEVER CHANGED... Happy hippie.
How are you doing these days?
Jeffrey shirtlift is my grandma's cousin. I play guitar too and I'm so proud of him. I can honestly say that I have a relative who played in Woodstock. 😃👍
Jeff was an RA in my freshman college dorm. I don't think he did much if any more professional singing.
I was there for this performance as a fifteen year-old and it was and remains one of my best memories of Woodstock.
Hahahaaaaaa shirtlift.
I was born in June 1969. Peace and love to everyone. 🙏🙏🙏💚💛❤❤❤
You were conceived during the Tet offensive, that wasn´t so peaceful hahaha
Willie Nelson wrote this. It's off of his "Country Willie - His Own Songs" album (1965).
Jeffrey is very much alive and residing in Northern California where Joannie still
lives.
First time listening to this song still has a Message for today’s Troubles
I have loved this woman for about 12 years. Songs like this, combined with her voice, are exactly why.
She's a special woman. All grown up now.
one of the most beautiful performances from Woodstock
I was there ! Happy since 😊
Loved these sounds since I was 12 years old and my big sister left for the Americas, but they left behind their record collection .............
so fortunate to know jeffrey and joanie at this time xox
I will never forget my days with Joannie and Jeffrey

Many thanks for sharing this delight, Ms. Joan and Mr. Jeffrey were perfect together! He went on to do excellent work for people, a fine and real person! Just great to hear them together, from way back then!
heard this on classical radio chicago. it meets with our needs 2 day in 09/20/13.always loved joan a real fighter.
In 1966 at 2am driving north on Hwy. 1 from Esalon Jeff was at the wheel and I was sitting shotgun with 3 other college freshman asleep in the back seat. Coming around a blind curve there were suddenly two pairs of headlights directly in front of us. At that instant the road widened on the cliff side and Jeffrey swerved to the right. For a second there were 3 cars across the two lane road. Then it was over. We looked at each other and didn't say a word. The guys in the back never woke up.
Qué bello 😮😊😢

Woodstock 1969... 🙂👍👍
Joan baez
God they were a great duet.... Too bad he didn't do more work with her during her "hit" period in the 1970's.... Diamonds and Rust would have been a fantastic duet album....
I believe he is still alive, and there is (I think) a facebook page for him. I have written him a couple of times and never gotten a response. He and she were terrific together.

Bob said it best, as usual: a voice to drive out bad spirits and beauty akin to that of a religious icon...I can understand why he fell!
