Thoroughly enjoyed watching this very chill, informative, review of a vehicle that continues to intrigue me. I left the car business a couple of years ago (my former company has a fleet of enclosed trucks - I sold truck space and managed projects for the likes of Ferrari, Lotus, Rivian etc moving prototypes for weather testing, car shows etc, as well as handling film shoots) One of my clients was Karma (Chinese company that bought Fisker - I moved client units and handle several nationwide tours for their SC1 and Pininfarina models. I could tell you some stories of that adventure). You did Fisker a solid by calling them a new company. =) I hunted Fisker (with the Ocean) for several years trying to get their show / press business but was too early. The Fisker Karma was ahead of its time and I always felt that, despite its flaws, Fisker took a beating with the bankruptcy. Hats off to him for persevering. Agree on the Karma, it was ahead of its time and perhaps caused by its name, that project was hit by a lot of bad luck ie. a hurricane destroying a lot of cars just arrived in the US from production in Europe, US politicians making their financing a political issue and their battery supplier going out of business. The Fisker company that brings the Ocean is actually a new company, as in the old company haven been taken over by that Chinese one except for Henrik Fisker keeping his name which has then been used in the new company. For example, he parroted Fiskers' claim of 1,550 km of extra range from the roof mounted solar panels. It's said that the solar panels ARE NOT even connected to the battery. Great EV, for sure, but you do need to be able to charge at home! Public rapid chargers cost 10 times as much. I currently pay 7.5p per kwh, whereas a rapid charger will cost in excess of 75p per kwh. So that larger 113kwh battery version will cost £84 to charge using a public rapid charger vs £8.40 at home. The exteneded range version of the MG4 will still be king for value vs range. It'll have a 77kwh pack and 325 miles range costing £36,495. I would still prefer the Ocean though lol 😂 what a beast
public chargers electricity if you go onlonger journey costs more then normal fuel and of course you must charge much longer for same mileage or around 1 hour for 100% if you are first in line while car around minute or less depend on pressure of petrol gun

"Waiting for an hour to fill a battery" for the LAST TIME: you DO NOT spend an hour rapid charging ANY modern EV. It doesn't happen. You put in enough to get home. None of my last half dozen rapid charge stops have lasted more than 9 minutes. Why? Because all I needed was a 20 mile buffer to get me to my house,... Where I have a charger. You don't fill these things when you're out and about. You fill them while you're asleep at home.
@@grigorioschristodoulou5229and it still wouldn't take an hour. Because your destination, if you've planned properly, will have a charger. And you wouldn't ever charge it to full. An 80% charge is fine for road trips, you're not going to be at 0% when you reach your charger and a modern electric car is likely to take a 150Kw charge - this one certainly does. If you're there more than 25 minutes then something is wrong.
Fast chargers degrade car range much faster. They tested that 100km less range in car after 200000km and fast charging compared to slow charging at home.
Lots of missing information unfortunately. E.g.Who will you take it to if it needs service in the UK? The option packages on the Fisker are hugely expensive. If you want a basic feature like rain sensing wipers that’s a £5K package. Software on early Ocean One users seems to be a bit “laggy” and lots not finished yet. As VW have ably demonstrated getting the software right is difficult and a risk to buyers that it will take years. Since Fisker couldn’t answer my questions whilst wanting a large non returnable deposit for an unfinished car I cancelled my order. Shame it’s the right idea.
@@kize32 Why would I drive it, or why would I enjoy it? Design is each person's preference, I really like this exterior and interior. I would save a gas-powered car for fun when not driving it.
I really like this car, the range does it for me. Fantastic and a great review. I live in France and i think they're coming here. About time manufacturers started being this innovative.
To me cheap materials cannot be justified by saying it is environmentally friendly. I don't care how recycled something is if I pay over 50 grand for a car and the plastics come from Fisher-Price I'm not interested. I'm all for not using seas of plastic but when your dashtop looks like your bin lid it's a step too far. Same with plastic seats that we all know will look horrible in 5 years.
I like new cars and brands..competition is good. the only problem i have is that it might be a long trip to do warrenty and service errands so you need to do alot of research before you buy one.
For the same price range, you can get a brand new BMW 5 series, luxury, safety, space etc... Just saying ... And why the word sustainable is constantly misleading the potential customer. Energy comes from fossil fuels, batteries made from slave labour in Africa, production alone consumes as much power as 100k of ICE driving. I'm not saying we should not consider EVs, all I'm saying is, be honest about them... With all that, I really like the idea of Fisker Come Back, and Best of Luck!!!
A wonderful review and a review with so many pertinent points/facts, the Fisker Ocean suggests it is well suited to the move for families from ICE vehicles to EV. Kudos to the bright minds at Fisker and thank you Autocar for showing leadership around how the role of a car will transition. There will be naysayers, but I'd suggest a quick search of Moose test failures, Ford Ka etc, you know what I mean, forging to find a new way forward has issues. The opportunity to take great road trips where the focus is seeing, experiencing and remembering great journeys years after taking them will live on. Thanks Fisker, and thanks Autocar for demonstrating those points.
very informative, yet laid back and well balanced review mate! Loved it. Love the car and their approach as well, and your knowledge behind the design philosophy as well, gave me quite a lot of metadata on details important to me. Impressed, Liked & Subscribed!
38K Euros is a farce - more like a scam. The Fisker Ocean One or Ultra is the smallest of the bunch with reasonable range and features. Those cost 63-68K. The Sport will never be built. Just like there is no 35K Model 3 oder 49K CT, and they will never be built.
I've always been wondering why cars/suvs of 3 rows never have rollable windows for the third rows, and assumed it's not viable.. But that california mode showed that not only that, but even the boot window was rollable 😃
The most interesting and intelligent EV (or any) car review I've seen in ages. Probably the first car I'd consider swapping my (8 year old) Tesla Model S for, given its greener credentials, range, price point - and the fact that Tesla have lost their way somewhat in the last couple of years, in service and focus, if not in manufacturing.
Just what the world needed - yet another electric SUV! I'm sure this will sell in the 10's in the UK - all those brand loyal car owners will jump to buy a 'Fisker' I'm sure.
Thanks for speaking about some features and not demonstrating them..... besides a more ordinary stuff like rear seats, the boot, etc...which didnt deserve any attention, too.... did fisker prohibit demontration of all mentioned above? Thanks.
My only qualm is the lack of android auto (and also apple play.) However, this one is on my list for their second model year... just to see what, if any, bugs need to be worked out.
Tesla has shown these prices mean nothing if production levels are mediocre. When reviewers do not communicate this reality in their reviews, they come off as spokespersons for the manufacturer. Tesla has the manufacturing capacity and can back it up with available vehicles.
Fisker is not just a guy coming out of nowhere. this dude have worked on some awesome cars over the years. he also worked with Elon musk back in the day. but they went their seperate ways, Fisker had other ideas and plans for cars, so therefor they stopped working together. The Fisker car company is very cool, unique, and different from other car brands. This company will be a Juggernaut in the car industry within the next 10-15 years. i think this car is quite cool. doesnt look like anything else out there currently.
Did not mention ride quality, did not show storage space, did not show rear seats and we saw a glimpse of a third row and didn't bother to see how big the trunk/boot space would be with the third row up or down, or if the third row is an option and how many passengers could fit in total. Did not do a walk around the car to show it's features and mostly it safety attributes.
Say this an awful lot on socials, RUclips and online but I really wish there were more real world based car performance reviews. Of course they don’t or wouldn’t suit every category of car out there but for example someone thinking of swapping from say a BMW 530d to an M3 no reviewer on RUclips really gives you that level of performance based review that it makes you think ‘right I’m off to the dealership’. 0-60s, demonstrated launch control, 1/4 miles, drag races with very similar cars, footage of a car on the road with seemingly nothing else there. They aren’t really what people want to see when deciding on a road car. They’re fun don’t get me wrong. I love to see drag races but everyone does them and they’re not really ‘real world’ demonstrations. In the real world you want to know if a car can comfortably overtake on a backroad with a 2-3 car backup in front of you, whether you can put your foot down on the motorway when John in his 58 reg A6 gets right up your arse and you don’t particularly want to have to shift across, just how much you can embarrass the local chavs in their Mountune Fiest ST when they try and go past you on a twisty road. Situations like those are what it would be really fun and good to see from a car review on RUclips. Or even just drag race something like an RS3 against a bunch of cars you’re likely to see ‘road wankers’ driving that think they’re king eg 56 reg 320d, any Fiesta ST, 58 reg Range Rover Sports, Jaguar XF…… etc. if you’re thinking about splashing £60-70k+ on something, having a reviewer on RUclips give you a bit of ‘feel good’ about higher performance road cars by demonstrating more real world scenarios it would go down a treat with a lot of folks on RUclips imo.
WTH is this? Did you just give this thing a ton of accolades, say how much better it is than others on the market (price/range etc) and they haven't even delivered a single vehicle yet. . No actual prices, no actual sales, deliveries etc. Oh and the company has gone belly up about 5 times. Brilliant! 🤔🤣
I'm sorry, but this was just an Infomercial for the Ocean's Range. NOTHING was shown that helps a potential Buyer make an educated decision. All of the "B Roll" footage of the red car was not even their footage. We want to see how you work the Infotainment system, how do the air vents function, what's the capacity of the cargo area, etc? No mention of it's down falls either, like; NO Ventilated Seats, NO Heads Up Display, NO Sunroof Shade, NO Maintenance Facilities, just to name a few. He just sits in the car and drives and does not do a "walk-around" or anything in the interior that would be helpful. As someone looking into purchasing an Electric Vehicle, I need much better and informative reviews than this provided, not an infomercial!
They tested 2 different cars. The B-Roll footage of the red one is just the other car they tested. Lots of videos on the internet show the things you want to see. Suggest you search in RUclips under "Fisker Ocean Reviews" and you'll find some pretty helpful ones.
Not a particularly insightful or engaging review and the reviewer missed some key points on interior space. Interesting alternative and looks good but still too expensive to buy new in the UK and depreciation for private buyers will be horrendous. Maybe ok on the used market in 2/3 years time at £20/ £25k for the entry/ mid spec model. Solar roof doesn't give you free miles if you have to pay for a top spec model at £60k. Should be standard on all models. 400 mile WLTP range is a nonsense in the real world. Range will be nearer to 320 miles in the real world. I had a Model Y LR quoted at WLTP 331 miles but the best I ever got was 265 miles. When is somebody going to legally take car manufacturers to task on their claimed ranges.
Using 100% of the battery every day will degrade the battery over the years very quickly, hence why the smarter larger manufacturers only let you use 80% which will help the battery have a longer range for longer.
True, it's generally best to keep the state of charge within the 20-80% range for daily driving. However, LFP batteries (like the one in the entry level Fisker Ocean) don't degrade as much as NMC batteries when charged to 100% so it's much less of a concern with those. Tesla actually recommends charging their cars with LFP batteries to 100% on a regular basis since is has proven difficult to give accurate range readings with LFP batteries if you don't charge them to 100% fairly regularly (at least for Tesla so I will assume the same applies to Fisker). It has to do with the fact that LFP cells operate within a narrover voltage range than NMC cells.
You haven’t actually tested the Sport (sub £40k) version though. It’s so difficult to find anywhere what the Sport is actually like and what features are included in the sub £40k price.
I don't think that will be a problem. Just like they outsourced manufacturing I believe they will partner up with someone to offer nationwide service. In an older article I read that it would be Cox Automotive and Rivus Fleet Solutions in the U.K but I'm not sure if that information is up to date. Besides, an EV typically doesn't require much service.
I had the Sport ($37,500) on order. Base standard color white and wheels, a few minor options with delivery priced out just over $44,000. Cancelled my order.
Yeah so expensive here in USA a sport base no options with tax and nearly $3000 delivery fee I am at almost $44k, insane, and basically 0 options. He is ripping off people on delivery fees,
@@t.nocontent All countries act differently. In Europe recommended prices are higher, but there's not that many suprise costs, VAT included, usually no dealer markups, etc. In USA everything seems cheaper, but you need to sell your house, if you need to visit hospital for a week.
The big issue for me was no heat pump offered in the Sport trim as standard or even as an option. At one point Henrik was on camera saying all trim levels will have a heat pump as standard equipment. I will be closely watching Sport range tests this winter.
Would be way too heavy. But new coming versions of LFP like LMFP will bring you closer. Just follow what is about to happen to Tesla Model 3 in couple of months.
Time will tell to see if the quality is there and if Fiskar is a survivor or road kill. I am thankful for anything that can challenge Tesla. Fingers crossed. I have a deposit but I am waiting a bit. The launch has been a little rocky….
Very weak design. We have already seen all this in KIA, Land Rover and Jaguar. Glass roof covered by solar panel?? it looks like an unfinished idea. Now everyone loves a roof window. In a word - a weak marketing project covered by the name of Fisker. PS - road quality - also nothing special, as if Tesla was released in 2012.
How could someone say this was a good review? "This car is about practicality..", he didn't show the backseat, the trunk, knee space, nothing. God... this was like a church sermon.
Such a shame that they're going to bust again before they can sell many of these, because from the consumer perspective it seems like a good deal. Given the importance of software updates to BEVs, I'd hesitate to buy one though until Fisker shows a bit of staying power. To just explain my thinking, the long range vehicle has 113kWh gross pack. That is absolutely enormous for the segment and is going to cost a fortune (there's a reason why competitor vehicles are all in the 75-85kWh sort of range). I just don't see how they can put a pack that size (especially as a new manufacturer with relatively low volume) in a car that price without massively negative margins (just look at Ford's margins on the Mach E, which has a pack about 2/3 the size and costs more). Having to compete with Tesla, which is obviously already at scale, is making life so hard for start ups like Fisker.
@@PhatLe-jj2ng I mean, Henrik also said that Fisker Automotive was going to be profitable and sell 15k cars a year back in 2010 and they went bankrupt 3 years later. Obviously I can wait for the financial reports, but anyone with a functioning brain knows that even if Fisker had a superior product with great cost control, they would have negative margins for quite some time, it's just the nature of scaling a business. Depending on how you account, you can show a positive gross automotive margin, but still go bankrupt because of the cost of plant and machinery and other operating expenses, which tend to be relatively large vs revenues for start up car businesses who need to invest to grow. Let's see, but I think Fisker has a very small chance of still being in business by 2030. It's possible they survive, but extremely unlikely.
It's the name Fisker, it's awful. I don't understand why people are so self righteous, & stupid nowadays, they're styling like some Chinese makers is fantastic- but like some Chinese brand names it sounds bloody awful Fisker- you don't have to give something a pass just because it's there, and put infront of you, the name is dog dirt. Tesla is a cool name hence stole the march as a brand on the Karma.
How do you get one for £36k or even £40k? On the Fisker website, they start at £56k but the have 'pre-configured ones available within 10 days but they are all£60k plus!
while the review was good it was a bit of a waste of time pushing the comparison with other ev's as you will have to wait well over a year and up to 2 to get hold of one of these compared with weeks or up to 3 months for its competitors
Hi there you are talking about practicality but in your video you didn't show us anything about it. You didn't show us the back seats you didn't show us the Frank or the boot. From the driver's point of view you did an excellent video thanks again
What a rubbish review, you pitch as a family car, yet didn’t cover space for passengers or luggage, just sat on your backside waffling on about nothing. You point to buy this over legacy brands - where is the dealer network the support when things go wrong - I was a great fan of this when it was announced but no sign of the car, and that’s the problem, legacy brands are more expensive because they have staff, pensions and infrastructure to support. Will this be a game changer I do not know, the VW ID2 with sub £25K in 2025 will be. Range is strange, I always was concerned over range, do not charge at home, but so far range is not an issue and only charge to 80%
I think I’d put the cheapest of the longer range versions on my shortlist, at around £50k. That kind of price for 400 miles is, like VW’s new ID7, something I could work with!
Wish you had gone into more detail about things like visibility, road noise, comfort-ability etc. i have a reservation for an ultra i forwent due to legitimate reasons but i still want to see reviews with an attention to these details for future reference. Thanks anyways!

I didn’t order one for the same reason, no dealerships etc, I e gone for a Volvo instead!
Easy answer, don't ever buy a car outside of old brands, your problem solved
Love this car, so unique and stylish. I would daily-drive this thing and enjoy every second
But why?
@@kize32 Why would I drive it, or why would I enjoy it? Design is each person's preference, I really like this exterior and interior. I would save a gas-powered car for fun when not driving it.
unique? That is copy paste of RR evoque.🤣
Great review 👍 I’m sold!
It will NOT retail at £36,000 when it EVENTUALLY comes to the UK market ...anyone want to take a bet on that?
This car looks amazing. I'm worried about changing to EV, but this looks good and not expensive compared to every other EV.
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it a lot. Possible could have showed more of the back seats and the boot. Cheers.
I wish you'd show us around the car. Saying great things, but we want to see more than the drivers seat.
38K Euros is a farce - more like a scam. The Fisker Ocean One or Ultra is the smallest of the bunch with reasonable range and features. Those cost 63-68K. The Sport will never be built. Just like there is no 35K Model 3 oder 49K CT, and they will never be built.
Looks really nice. I will look into getting an Ocean for sure
How good is after sales service warranty . Who will fix it new company would be more comfortable if was backed by a major car company
I've always been wondering why cars/suvs of 3 rows never have rollable windows for the third rows, and assumed it's not viable.. But that california mode showed that not only that, but even the boot window was rollable 😃
Why are you waiting longer than 15 minutes for a DC charge?
The most interesting and intelligent EV (or any) car review I've seen in ages. Probably the first car I'd consider swapping my (8 year old) Tesla Model S for, given its greener credentials, range, price point - and the fact that Tesla have lost their way somewhat in the last couple of years, in service and focus, if not in manufacturing.
Just what the world needed - yet another electric SUV! I'm sure this will sell in the 10's in the UK - all those brand loyal car owners will jump to buy a 'Fisker' I'm sure.
I think I would wait to see how this one goes.
Thanks for speaking about some features and not demonstrating them..... besides a more ordinary stuff like rear seats, the boot, etc...which didnt deserve any attention, too.... did fisker prohibit demontration of all mentioned above? Thanks.
I would buy one if they were called Fister.
My only qualm is the lack of android auto (and also apple play.) However, this one is on my list for their second model year... just to see what, if any, bugs need to be worked out.
The UK’s first registered Fisker Ocean is for sale on Autotrader for £63k. 0-60mphmin 3.9 secs, 440 miles range and 7 seats.
Sounded more like a promotion for Fisker and a boring one at that! We got to see more of the presenter than the car……expected better from Autocar!
The fact that the range indicator says 700km doesn’t mean it will do that.
California Mode? Do they drop a crazy homeless into your lap?
Tesla has shown these prices mean nothing if production levels are mediocre. When reviewers do not communicate this reality in their reviews, they come off as spokespersons for the manufacturer. Tesla has the manufacturing capacity and can back it up with available vehicles.
Very impressed Fisker has somehow survived
I know it only first impressions. But this sounds like an advertorial.
Good looking? Sorry man, I think you need to head back to Specsavers for a stronger prescription!
As he's driving you cant hear road noice or bumps which is impressive.
Depends on what speed he driving..
Also notice in California mode, you don’t hear the wind noise as much either. Must be a noice cancelling microphone
WTH is this? Did you just give this thing a ton of accolades, say how much better it is than others on the market (price/range etc) and they haven't even delivered a single vehicle yet.
.
No actual prices, no actual sales, deliveries etc. Oh and the company has gone belly up about 5 times. Brilliant! 🤔🤣
Fantastic Car. I love and enjoy my Fisker Ocean One every day. I'm happy ;)
Very well thought out and executed Fisker Ocean review. Appreciate all the research you put into its production, which we usually take for granted.
looks like some kind of Kia Soul Sibling lmaooooooo
How do the seats feel?
Not trying to be funny but I thought Fisker folded a few years ago….
Who is going to use 100% of a 113kWh battery every day?
You haven’t actually tested the Sport (sub £40k) version though. It’s so difficult to find anywhere what the Sport is actually like and what features are included in the sub £40k price.
I imagine it would be challenging to find somewhere to get this car (and other obscure EV makes) serviced in the UK to satisfy the warranty
We've got an EV and if it's not serviced by a franchised dealer the 8-year warranty on the battery is invalidated@@ThorRavnsborg
right now absolutley theyve only made like 2000... but by end of year they're expecting like 10,000 a month
With the California mode, is the sunshine optional?
California mode (aka, open all the windows and let the heat out after the car has been sat charging in the sun). Good idea! Not silly!
He is ripping off people on delivery fees,
They never say about real prices in those reviews. Only: what a brilliant car 😊. Pure publicity.
@@rod2625 Henrik, lied,
They are all saying about 40k below, but eventually it rises about 50k 😄😄😄
we need AWD and 100kWh with LFP = much longer lasting battery option.
They have AWD and 460 mile range already on ultra trim and up
Would be way too heavy. But new coming versions of LFP like LMFP will bring you closer. Just follow what is about to happen to Tesla Model 3 in couple of months.
How big is the boot. Do the seats go flat in the back. Where can I see one 🤷♂️
Nicely done
This was an excellent review, thank you. I enjoyed it even though I'm not an EV enthusiast; and that's a high praise:)
Magna rocks. The fisker attributes sound awesome and it looks beautiful too. Priced well too.
Great car... Fisker is off to the great start ... Glad you are impressed with the Ocean ..
Looks decent, not much of a review, but not a bad introduction
Great review. Though it is admittedly a grown up car it can still do 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds.
Thank God there's an LFP option.
Title is misleading. You tested a 60k variant of the car, not 40k.
Will this be coming to the U.K.
Fantastic review 🥳
Agreed, tesla has more range with 77 kwhbattery this is enormous and shows its not efficient, unfortunately, but we'll see he may survive,
@@PhatLe-jj2ng I mean, Henrik also said that Fisker Automotive was going to be profitable and sell 15k cars a year back in 2010 and they went bankrupt 3 years later.
Interior space, performance testing, handling, ride comfort? Did you think of reviewing any of these?
Will they have many UK dealerships?
Did he say 130 kw battery ??? That’s wrong isn’t it ?? Too much waffle and not enough detail … you didn’t even show us the boot size
Amazing car. Beautiful design. I’m getting one for sure.
Unfortunately they won't be able to sustain with this price!
Hi there you are talking about practicality but in your video you didn't show us anything about it. You didn't show us the back seats you didn't show us the Frank or the boot. From the driver's point of view you did an excellent video thanks again
5:30 what sound was that?
It’s a sensible car…. I think that sums it up
What a rubbish review, you pitch as a family car, yet didn’t cover space for passengers or luggage, just sat on your backside waffling on about nothing.
This car review is so chill that it felt like I was in a conversation with a friend and I was listening to his opinion while we discussed about this new Fisker EV.
I like it though, perhaps because it's not the first point of contact (review) otherwise I might have found it boring.
Good job anyways. 👍
The Ocean called, "they are running out of shrimps."
