J L honestly. Teaching younger kids how to handle a firearm is a great thing and every time one little thing happens, they make it seem like the end of the world. I honestly agree with you
When I was a kid I was using my allowance from mowing the lawn to go to the range. After a couple weeks guys at the range were so cool I got to try everybody's gun. The Browning buckmark fit my little hands perfect! The shooting community is so supportive super good memories.
Dalton Brennan Yeah, dude I'm only 1 year older than her and I can hit a target in the head from 1800ft away, though I've only used guns a few times, and the gun she's using is a pistol, the one I'm using weighs a good 40-50lb.
I applaud this girl and her parents. She is shooting great for a young child that size, and she hits the target. She is wearing all the proper safety gear and is shooting under heavy supervision. All children should be brought up this way, maybe then there wouldn't be so many negligent shootings and accidents.
+David Carroll a lot of those, could be stopped if only parents locked up their guns. best of all teach your children gun safety, but still lock the gun away, when not in use!! just a thought
I completely agree. I go over gun safety with my 4 year old almost everyday. She has her own rifle, a cricket, but she knows she is not allowed to ever get it from the safe (if I have the door open), without asking me first. but does that mean I will leave loaded guns laying around, NO. I knows kids are curious by nature.
David Carroll i applaud you for taking your responsibility serious and just to clarify, i was not implying you hade guns laying around. i live in europe and we get a lot of the tragic news from the u.s. when kids have gun accidents. a common fact is often that the guns where left loaded or when in a safe, the door wasn't locked. But, thank you for a pleasant conversation and keep doing what you do. it sounds right :)
+Johnny Hartmann I didn't think you were implying that for a second. But you are right, many people don't take gun safety seriously. I want my children to grow up enjoying guns, but also respecting them. And when I do take my child to shoot, I only load one round at a time whether she is shooting her Cricket or my 22/45 Lite, because I don't want her getting excited that she hit the target and turn a gun on us on accident trying to show us she hit it.
and I have never hold a pistol in my hand like all the other persons I know who are not policemen or who haven't got any other job where you can use a handgun..because I live in germany :/

It's amazing to me how much ignorance there is about guns and the people that shoot them. I've been shooting since I was four. I love competitive shooting and shoot on a weekly basis. There was a study I read about a few years ago about first time shooters. It concluded 98% of first time shooters enjoyed shooting and 86% intended to continue shooting. It really is a lot of fun. Instead of showing your ignorance, pre-conceived notions and prejudices, try it and see. Then if you feel the same way, fine. At least you're somewhat educated on the subject and can comment somewhat intelligently.
fallenpatriot 79 And like 30 of that 86% actually went out to buy a gun because the other 46% were pushed back against the media's outlook on his its a strict tool for murder.
fallenpatriot 79 shooting is a fun activity is the only thing I’ve gotten from this paragraph... and BTW who’s asking shooters if they wanna shoot again after their lifetime sentence?!

I think all young children should be taught the basics of firearm safety in school. Whether they choose at their parents discretion, to do any shooting or not, They should know all about Gun Safety.
@Josuke Higashikata shootings will still happen, criminals dont abide by the law. And they get their weapons from illegal arms dealers or the black market.
Josuke Higashikata I mean there are 500,000 to 3 million defensive uses of firearms per year so they do provide at least some protection, compared to the 15,000 people killed with guns
I love it! Proper stance, grip and a great example of the right kind of training. I was 6 when my grandfather taught me to shoot and I will always be grateful of him for that.
+nowyourenraged2 Teaching proper firearms safety and GOOD gun handling habits under such close supervision is the safest thing a parent could possibly do. To just tell kids that "guns 'r' bad" and hope they do not misuse them is ignorant and negligent, and for that, parents should go to jail.
+Reese Calkins I shoot weapons, that doesent make me 35, I'm only 13 which means my muscles haven't fully developed, so when a weapon with high recoil such as a rifle or shotgun pushes my body to its coiling limits, it hurts.
why is this video even worth making? there's nothing noteworthy or unusual about a 10 year old knowing how to shoot guns and handle them safely. what's the next video going to be, 5 year old rides bike?
She’s obviously well trained! For the ones at CNN saying that kids should not have access to guns, as you’ve seen here - kids can follow direction and obtain firearm safety. I learned to shot when I was 9 y/o and I live in CA, my father taught us to respect guns and that they were not toys. So, responsible parents teach firearm safety!
I'm not too happy with kids as young as 7 become competitive shooters, but that still shows just how responsible and trustworthy the parents and the kid must be. Look at her, keeping her guns downrange and away from people at all times, carefully aiming her shots, and putting it on safety then unloading the magazine when she's done. That's pretty responsible, and she (and her parents) must have really good discipline.
Give me an ar-15 or something among the line and I'll take an oppurtunity, bad part is... I'd be reloading constantly and slowly, cause Commiefornia only allows 10 rounds and the bullet button.. Past to mention, they banned ar-15's because they say "Citizens shouldn't be able to have battlefield rifles". Which is one of the most ridiculous excuses ive ever heard.

Yeah, she's pretty good in most aspects other than accuracy. She can't hit a torso sized target from maybe 20 yards away? Huh, guess competitive shooting has really lowered their standards.
You missed this part. "Meet Shyanne Roberts, a 10-year-old competitive shooter who is out to prove kids with guns don't always mean disaster." There are probably over 100,000,000 adult Americans who started hunting at the age of 12 in the USA,---who never had a disaster.
Well I live in Canada where we have strict firearm rules 1. You must have a license to buy guns and ammunition 2. We can’t have full auto guns You probably only use guns when hunting But I still have guns
She's shooting competitively because she wants to and look at her discipline with a firearm it's better than some adults who SHOULD have this discipline with a firearm. Excellent trigger and muzzle discipline and she's pretty accurate. You can tell from this that she'll grow up with respect toward firearms and given that she enjoys shooting, she's going to own firearms throughout her life. She's lucky to have parents who are supportive in her competitive endeavors. parenting done right.
Wait! You mean there's a sport people enjoy safely that never result in mass shootings or gang violence? Damn, whatever will I do with my narrative?!?! /endsarcasm
THIS IS WHAT GUN CONTROL MEANS. The fact that this little girl can pass shooting comps means she should be able to get a carry license. Think about it, if you trained your little girl at age 10 to be completely safe with a firearm, then taught them the legal use of a firearm, wouldn't you feel safer about your little girl being out? No more "stranger danger", no more abductions, no more rape. MORE GUNS = LESS CRIME. No one attacks someone if they think they have a gun and if everyone's allowed to have a gun, people instantly assume that they have a gun because it's better to assume they're dangerous than to assume they're harmless and be literally dead wrong.
I think you have way too much confidence in a 10 year old's ability to make mature decisions in regards to the appropriate application of a firearm, sir.
I got my first shotgun at 8. it was a 410 break action shotgun, and I practiced with it as often as I could. I don't believe I'd allow someone under around 17 to actually carry a pistol for self defense purposes (emotions are far too volatile before then, and though they may not actually use it, the temptation to draw it in a strictly verbal situation as intimidation could be overwhelming) but I do believe safety and general use of firearms should begin to be taught at the earliest age that it can be understood. Another thing that I feel often gets left out is perhaps taking the firearms apart and learning how they work. Of course that would come at an age likely in the double digits for the average mind to understand it, but I feel that it brings a certain respect for the firearm as well as taking a little of the curiosity out of it. the less curiosity, the less the likelihood of "playing" with the gun in an unsafe manor. I've gone on about it long enough, but that's my take on how it should be handled. we do have proof right here that someone this young can safely and effectively operate even a handgun. I think we need more of these.
Their emotional state is created and molded by how the parents act. The fact that the rest of the world does something doesn't mean it can't be fixed by only a few people doing the opposite... You don't have faith in humanity. I mean, I don't either but fact is, the kids can pass the tests just as well if not better than the adults can. Also, kids can control their emotions better than 90% of adults. Besides, at this point in the trash can of a world we have, we need to start getting rid of the trash. There's hundreds of kids out there with better mindsets than all of the adults.
When a 10 year old girl knows more about guns than the people that try to ban them...

Karvast I mean you can get PTSD or have it triggered if there was a gun pointed at you and have others die because of that gun, such as in war. But someone holding a AR-15 and got PTSD from is just idiotic.
Ha! Ha! Ha! He he. That's funny!
Hyperdead_Goat ayyyy shit man that’s good
Man when i shot my first gun my blood was pumping so much.
I know that feeling. I was 7 years old when I first time shot with a large caliber rifle. It was my dad's old 30-06 Mauser. I remember it rattled my world the first shots, but then I got used to it. I'm sure it took me 10 minutes to even dare to pull the trigger. Now I am a "gun person" myself.
First time I shot a gun was when i was 6, I shot an AR-15 and destroyed my shoulder lol
I was about 11 when my dad took me to a sporting clay event to watch and see what it would be like and he let me shoot one shot and ever since then I was hooked
I first shot a 22. And then instantly moved up to a glock 40. And next I will be getting a 45. colt 1911 my dream gun
My heart raves when I pull my guns out.

The best form of gun control.
This is great, what every parent should teach their children!
+David Carroll thank you this is what i mean well said my friend

Little did you know that murdering an unarmed bank robber is still 1st degree murder
