@@BoomStickTactical I managed to get myself a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle earlier this year (back in March, actually) as an early 41st birthday present to myself, and it's bloody awesome to shoot. So with that said, the Weaver Stance actually does help out alot with managing the gun's recoil while having the tight grip.
This video helped me in so many ways as a novice shooter. Especially when you wrap your other hand completely around the hand that is on the pistol. That helped stabilize the gun so much and I was definitely struggling to hit the target and it’s definitely because I was not having my finger on the trigger like you explained it correctly. It was always heading to the right. You’ve help me nail down some key elements here. Thank you so much.
Really enjoyed your advice on "pushing" out with the right hand while "pulling" in with the left hand to create a pressure counterbalance on the gun to improve accuracy. Can't wait to try that on the shooting range. Thank you sir.
.I was a beginner to 35 years ago ! Too..Always. Always Remember safety frist .. Get rounds On Target ! That is very important . With practice . You will become more accurate . I just paid $120 for a one on one lesson to learn exactly what you just showed on your video. As a beginner, I'm glad that I had that one on one instruction but I would loved to watch this video beforehand! Thanks! It will serve me as a refresher when needed.
This vid is a great wrap up of all the techniques needed to hit the target in tight groups. He did not talk about breathing. That is the factor that keeps the gun steady.
This is one of the best videos I have seen on the anatomy of pistol shot and especially the weaver and isosceles stance. Many say the words but cannot actually tell how to do it. The discussion of the finger on the trigger is excellent (too far, not enough, best) and of sight alignment. So there are all the elements of a good pistol shot: grip. stance, sight alignment and trigger (add breath control .. stop breathing as you align the sights) . This is the Olympic profile .. but to become an Olympian you must master all of them ..with this video you know HOW .. so get to work. (and join NRA)
@@BoomStickTactical I agree. And as far as weaver or modified weaver, the simple fact is non law enforcement is more likely to be in more close quarters and less likely to be in a extended longer range gun fight with lots of lateral movement (where an isosceles might be better). Non LEO is more likely to actually be physically contacted with the assailant, where a weaver or modified weaver is plainly a better stance to be in due to strong leg back and weak arm for pushback stability
Excellent video, BroomStick Tactical. One of the better handgun accuracy demonstrations on RUclips. So in other words, the only sight picture I should see while lined up on the center of the target is a fuzzy rear sight, a fuzzy bull's eye, but a clear front sight which I haven't been doing. Great lesson. I subscribed.
That's a tough one! You really have to decide. If I get a good solid look at the front sight, the target itself is just kind of a rumor... it seems to work somehow. I can see WHY people would have optics or lasers, but I haven't done that yet except for dry-fire practice. I love the idea of the sights being projected ON to the target basically. Then everything is in one plane, and you can at least see it. You still have to do all the other stuff!
Thanks. I just purchased my first handgun, a G2c. I went to the range and initially hit dead center where I aimed. Then, I started spraying shots because I was searching for the stance and grip that's most comfortable and effective for me. Even though the G2c is a compact gun, I like to stand slightly staggered with my left foot back. I also discovered, as you mentioned in the video, that because I had to much finger on the trigger, I was pulling shots right. This was very informative.👌
This is pretty helpful. I've just recently started shooting, and I've noticed a pattern where my rounds tend to land a little to the right, and I hadn't even thought about how I might be putting my trigger finger too far onto the trigger - it's definitely something I'll keep in mind next time I go to the range.
That's ok for double action. But single action use the pad if you can. I've caught myself yanking the trigger and hitting left, I think that's common too. Takes some work to be accurate, good thing it's fun.
I first started on 10 inch steel targets at a distance of 30-35 yards. Silly how I used to think it was horrible scoring 6 out of 10 shots on average from that range until I realized some people's group placement on door sized targets were far worse at closer range. I realized then that it wasn't about making steel go "ding" just to look good, it was about true accuracy. This video helped me improve even more and I'm been able to hit 10 inch steel targets out to 50-55 yards with relative ease after some more practice with the knowledge provided. Thank you for this video!!!
About the focus part. I’ve been told to focus on the front sight, like you said, when using just one eye aiming. When you get used to having both eyes open, you focus on the target
I appreciate the tips. I'll do some dry fire practice. I've gotten my pistol marksmanship down to about 6" @ 25m, but I'm training for a 2" group in a 5 round volley. I was researching for a laser, but if I pay attention to what I already have, you've shown my weapon already has everything I need to practice. Thanks man.
Thanks for this video. I had owned rifles and shotguns in my life but just recently bought a handgun and my inaccuracy is frustrating. I am going to use these techniques to improve.
I was about to make the very same comment! This video is well made and informative which can be a rare combination let alone for such practical application! Thanks BoomStick Tactical!
good video man. Only thing I would suggest adding is the trigger reset after shooting a round. I know a lot of people let the trigger all the way out and others even take their fingers out of the trigger well after each shot. Letting them know that you only need to let out enough slack to hear the reset would cover everything. Thanks for sharing.
My wife is a new handgun owner. I'm going to recommend she watch this video for quickly learning fundamental sight alignment and trigger control tips. Thanks for making this video, it's very well done.
That was really good info. Going to have my daughter watch n practice these techniques shes already a darn good shot up to 17 yards but never hurts to keep learning. Thanks

Clear instructions love the trigger finger point witch alot of people are unaware of how critcle it can be also I'm going to try the arm push and pull technic.... Great job !👍
I never heard of this until I saw a target that was marked out like this, different parts of the paper said "Too much trigger finger" and so on. After that I got a cheap boresight laser and did some dry fire with that. I'm thinking "Well, no wonder"! These little RUclips classes are really helping me.

Thanks for the Tips. Pushing w/ Trigger Hand and Pulling w/ Support Hand does Work. It Limits Side to Side Movement. And i am going to practice keeping the Front Sight in Focus. Heck Yah. I have been shooting with Fuzzy Sights. I calibrated the sights on my NEW 92FS myself. 3 different gunshops told me it was 'me' and not the Gun. Only an actual Gunsmith Believed Me. Great to hear. The sights can have a big impact and if they're not lined up correctly your shots will not be on. And sometimes replacing them can also help. Thanks for watching.
Great video, especially the camera work on site picture. Also, many shooters are never taught a proper stance or how to hold the gun correctly. These techniques are essential for good accuracy. You covered those subjects well. BTW, I am amazed at how rigid the Weaver stance can be. The push/pull effect is like locking the gun into position. With practice, it becomes second nature.
I had a few issues with accuracy at the range today with my 43x. I think you thoroughly covered all of the points I needed to review. Well done and thank you.
cervezadog It is an odd thing. .I have never been insulted, or had anyone talk smack , when I open carry. .people are just so polite. Panhandlers dont even aproach me .! And when I walk past a group of youths with baggy pants and backward hats, they just grin....kinda like a fox eatin yellow jackets honey...I guess folks are just more polite when you carry
Thank you very much for showing proper sight picture, "split target in half", with front sight. Everyone else shows circle on top of front sight. Not how I was taught.
Love your channel and I was already subscribed but Buffalo reminded me to check in on your channel often. This particular video is so good on the basics that its smart for us all to watch it until it’s part of us what you teach. And then still watch it again every now and then. As the great tennis player Poncho Gonzales wrote in his book: The pros are ALWAYS drilling themselves on the basics. I also share this you teach please know.
Although I do not work in the army and I am not a sniper, I wanted to learn how to aim. I know that I will need it in the future. Thank you for your explanation. It is a simple and understandable explanation. I really benefited from it.
you demonstrate the problem with the weaver, your gun goes off center to the left with each shot. the isosceles is more consistent and stays better on centerline during recoil. you are distributing it down the arms equally instead of uneven distribution.
+louis cyfer different shooters shoot better with different stances. The weaver is better for gins that have a lot of recoil. What works for one shooter may not work for another.
The bladed stance of the Weaver also helps by allowing your strong side arm to act as a stock of sorts and helping to line up your eye with your sights. It also helps you to present a slightly smaller target to anyone who may be shooting back if cover is not available. It DOES help with recoil. This can be demonstrated also in the fact that nearly everyone naturally takes a weaver stance of sorts when preparing to fight someone. It allows you to take a punch better and it allows you to put more of your power forward when punching, both concepts translate to better pistol recoil management. With the strong side leg slightly behind you, you can push off the ground and bend the knee to absorb recoil. From the isosceles the only way your legs can compensate for recoil is to step back, which throws off your entire shooting base. In the isosceles your arms and midsection must absorb the recoil by raising the weapon up and bending backwards at the waist which means more weapon travel before getting to successive shots. There is reason that the Weaver is taught to military and law enforcement from basic through advanced tactical shooting. The off center shot can easily be explained by the fact that he was aiming through a CAMERA.
As a new shooter I really appreciate how you showed what happens with the placement of the trigger finger. I have been reading a bunch and watching vids on it but this was a great way to show it very simply. Well done.
Still good to watch in case you ever decide to go to a shooting range or if you live in a state that is gun friendly. Maybe a friend or someone in your family might take you shooting. It's fun and good to know
That helps me very much! I'm getting into 10 meter air pistol target shooting and 10 meter air rifle. After watching some of your videos I've discovered I'm not as good a shot as I thought I was. Many people think 10 meter shooting is for kids or it's too close...think again and watch those Olympic Shooters...that's razor sharp microscopic surgical shooting and they are brain surgeons when it comes to accuracy. Thanks for the video.
This is the best "handgun accuracy" video that I have seen. The instructor is great (only about a third of them are) but the cinematography is what truly sets it apart. Well done. BTW, the instructor's hands are about 300% more stable than mine. My guess is that this helps too...
This is the second time I've come acrossed your video in about a year and this time I want to compliment you for what all I have learned. I tell the kids the same thing you said in the video but sometimes I think it's cheaper to buy them firecrackers, they just don't want to listen. Some days I have remarkable results and shoot 10 shots and know to stop, I can't do any better then this. And then again other days I'm hitting the 9/8 rings of the target with a couple of the shots flying off course. Your video has been very instrumental and I thank you.
This was a great refresher. I was a member of AFSOC in my youth, and just recently began shooting IDPA. The tips in this video, I will put to work next weekend. Time to get back on track. Thanks
I wish you were there when my first shooting training. The girl who is the employee in the shooting center she laughed at me it looked like I was pathetic 😢. But next round I will see who would laughe . Ty
After watching your video I went from an 82% accuracy rate to 98% in the kill zone! You just saved me a hundred bucks. Now I don't need a lesson. Thank you so much! Merry Christmas! God bless!
Thanks. You raise some good points like pushing forward with gun hand and pushing back with support hand. Also I never realized how the position of the trigger finger had much to do with accuracy. Good video.
Glad to see more shooters blacken out the rear sights. As a ex-mil NLMARSOF soldier, I was re-trained to use both eyes open. Blackened out rear sights, and run from target to target. With daily training your brain will compensate and make you a better CQC shooter. Quicker, more accurate, and you get 40 degrees more from your perivial vision. Which is extremely important in CQC. Keep up the good videos. I might even start my own videos to teach average gun owners spec ops rules and tricks to get on the "TANGO" faster, be more aggressive, accurate, and acquire the skills to see the surroundings.
@@BoomStickTactical I'll definitely let you know. Working on a old school short range carbine for fun right now for CQC. But I might be able to find some vids of my 1000 meter + 8mm k-98 toy. Yup....You heard right.;-) Self loads of course. MOA changes a tad.
Heard and learned something new ... something I hadn't heard before. I just purchased a new handgun and took it to an indoor pistol range to get some practice. My first 25 rounds were very good ... quite a few bullseyes. With my next 25, they drifted left of center and I just couldn't figure out why. I think your video has revealed the problem and that is a misplaced trigger finger. Thank You!

Its all about grip and wrist position. 70-80% of trainees never fix this error because instructors fail to mention.
I've got entire videos on it
I had a few issues with accuracy at the range today with my 43x. I think you thoroughly covered all of the points I needed to review. Well done and thank you.
Thanks for watching. I've got more tutorials on my channel.
Extremely well made video. Straight to the point and great coverageThank you!

GREAT info! I'm glad there are no haters lol.
+Darnell Bryant thanks for watching. I'm sure they will show up soon enough.
***** Agreed lol.
cervezadog It is an odd thing. .I have never been insulted, or had anyone talk smack , when I open carry. .people are just so polite.
Thanks for watching
Damn dude that 19 looks like a 43 when you hold it lol. Good info really though thanks for the upload!

SQuiRt ReyNolds when he said 19 I was dang he’s got big hands because that’s big gun in my hand lol
Hey man, just wanna say thanks for the video. It's really informative to a new shooter like myself.
+ROBTAT2 thanks for watching and please subscribe for more tutorials.
Love your channel and I was already subscribed but Buffalo reminded me to check in on your channel often. This particular video is so good on the basics that its smart for us all to watch it until it’s part of us what you teach. And then still watch it again every now and then. As the great tennis player Poncho Gonzales wrote in his book:
The pros are ALWAYS drilling themselves on the basics. I also share this you teach please know.
Thanks. Tell Buffalo hello for me
Just found this channel and absolutely love the style of video here. Great job!
Thanks
IMO, one of the best and easiest explanations I’ve heard. This helped tremendously

Although I do not work in the army and I am not a sniper, I wanted to learn how to aim. I know that I will need it in the future. Thank you for your explanation. It is a simple and understandable explanation. I really benefited from it.
I have several tutorials on my channel. Please subscribe and check them out.
thanks for a free lesson teacher!!!!😎😎😎
+Ralph Lugo thanks for watching

+Son Goku thanks for watching. You may want to check out my channel for more tutorials like the Trigger control drills which can help you also.
Good video, simple and to the point.
+muddnyreye thanks for watching
Best trigger finger explanation I've seen and less than 6 minutes too. Others need to learn your brevity.

you demonstrate the problem with the weaver, your gun goes off center to the left with each shot. the isosceles is more consistent and stays better on centerline during recoil. you are distributing it down the arms equally instead of uneven distribution.
+louis cyfer different shooters shoot better with different stances. The weaver is better for gins that have a lot of recoil. What works for one shooter may not work for another.
BoomStick Tactical the uneven distribution becomes a bigger problem with bigger recoil.
louis cyfer no argument but some shooters still shoot better with that stance then any other. It all depends on the individual.
Hmm, I wonder though if the isosceles makes you a bigger target than weaver.
This was helpful knowledge thank you

As a new shooter I really appreciate how you showed what happens with the placement of the trigger finger. I have been reading a bunch and watching vids on it but this was a great way to show it very simply. Well done.
Thanks for watching. I've got other trigger control tutorials on my channel
Excellent job Sir.
+David Naranjo thanks for watching
Is that a fart at 2:06? :-D
Nope
You are THEE absolute best. I needed only a 75% to pass at the gun range....and using your technique I got a 98%....Thank You!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Glad to help.
Thank you for your training!
Thanks for watching.
Anybody that doesn't agree with that can't shoot.
+Will Harrison thanks for watching
After carrying a pistol for 20 years this gentleman is right on the money. Great simple advice.
Thanks.

me : i dont have a freaking gun
Maybe you are considering buying one?
yes maybe when i grow up :)
Still good to watch in case you ever decide to go to a shooting range or if you live in a state that is gun friendly. Maybe a friend or someone in your family might take you shooting. It's fun and good to know
Same, they are hard to get in the Netherlands
Get one!
The quiet kid after watching this: 🙂

Great camera work to show the trigger pull.
Finally! Don't know why it was so complicated finding a video showing you how to aim, but I'm so glad I found this!
Glad to did thanks for watching. I've got more tutorials on my channel.
Solid trigger pull tips. I realized I use less finger which is why I am off, on the hunt for the happy medium. Great video!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe
Ive been watching tips and instructional videos for properly shooting a handgun accurately, this one is by far the best video ive found. Thank you
Thanks for watching and please check out my channel for more video tutorials
First time shooter here. This video is exactly what I was looking for. Good info, straight to the point, and easy to digest. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe and check out my channel for more.

Thanks.
Thanks for watching. It takes regular training to stay sharp. There are also other factors that can influence your accuracy
This is by far the best shooting video on RUclips. You hit on every issue I have while shooting. Keep up the great content.
Thanks. Please subscribe for more
Nice job especially showing the sight picture. Most people buy to big of caliber and start flinching before they pull the trigger. Great video.
+Steve Benson thanks
This was a great refresher. I was a member of AFSOC in my youth, and just recently began shooting IDPA. The tips in this video, I will put to work next weekend. Time to get back on track. Thanks
Good luck. Thanks for watching
Passed my qualification with my micro compact because of the help of this video. Thank you sir. Great explanation of how to sight in a handgun.
Glad to hear. I've got other tutorials on my channel. Check it out.
I wish you were there when my first shooting training. The girl who is the employee in the shooting center she laughed at me it looked like I was pathetic 😢. But next round I will see who would laughe . Ty
I teach classes in kentucky. Find a reputable instructor in your area.
@BoomStickTactical
I found, thank you so much 💗
Damned good video. I've been teaching those techniques since becoming an NRA instructor in 1963. BECAUSE THE WORK ! !
Exactly why I teach them.
I have Seen hundreds clips but yours is the best explain and demonstration of how to shoot accurate and right on target. Thank you
Thanks for watching
You sound just like my instructors in my police academy. Your video helped me very much. Going to the range again tomorrow. Thank you very much!
+Gabe Rangel thank you for your service and please subscribe for more
This is the best shooting video on youtube. Finally somebody who knows how to use manual focus when doing these test.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe for more
For the first time I seen a video that actually explains it in good detail and doesn't veer off into a tactical rant
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe and check out my website at boomsticktacticalgear.com/
After watching your video I went from an 82% accuracy rate to 98% in the kill zone! You just saved me a hundred bucks. Now I don't need a lesson. Thank you so much! Merry Christmas! God bless!
I'm glad to help. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel.
Thanks. You raise some good points like pushing forward with gun hand and pushing back with support hand. Also I never realized how the position of the trigger finger had much to do with accuracy. Good video.
Thanks for watching
I can’t say just how good it was to see the sight picture from behind the gun. A short but exceptional bit of schooling.
Glad to help. Please subscribe for more tutorials.
Almost everything you mentioned, check. But, no one ever told me about pushing and pulling with that grip, thank you!
Glad to help.
Let me know if you start making them. I'm always looking for more training videos myself.
@@BoomStickTactical I'll definitely let you know. Working on a old school short range carbine for fun right now for CQC. But I might be able to find some vids of my 1000 meter + 8mm k-98 toy. Yup....You heard right.;-) Self loads of course. MOA changes a tad.
Great video. A lot of folks don't realize the importance of trigger finger placement. Also the focus on the front sight.
Thanks. I actually have a tutorial focusing just on finger placement
Thank You!
Glad to help. I've got some drills that can help you with trigger control. Check out my channel.
😮just what I needed. Stance , grip , focus, shoot in one short video.
Thanks for watching. I've got several other tutorials on my channel. Check it out
Liked how you were able to show the sight picture - one of the few videos that showed it clearly especially if one is new to shooting
