He really is one of the greatest live performers ever. Most of his band and back up vocalists have performed and recorded with John for over 30 years. That doesn't happen unless you have something special. So many bands seem to only last a few years or maybe a decade before they break up. But John and his band have stuck together through thick and thin. Some of the youngsters who started off in his band went on to bigger and better things, but that never stopped them coming back on and off over the years to support him. Think Tommy Emmanuel who was one of John's original band members in the early 80's and featured on the the Uncovered album. He came back again after he had become famous in his own right, and joined John for the Chain Reaction concerts and album in 1990 and the Talk of the Town Concerts in 1994. You couldn't have been more right.. having grown up with this as one of my earliest musical influences I had no idea how very lucky we were to see him in concert several times, including having VIP tickets to see him at Expo 88 in Brisbane. Hoping the Angels are watching over him now. John went through an 11 hour surgery for Oral Cancer having a tumor removed, he is still in recovery..... I pray for his recovery.

I've also seen him in concert a few times, including when he was playing with Sir Tom Jones at The Domain. That was a fantastic experience, as you can imagine. Two amazing voices, two amazing performers on one stage.
