I was there! I am so grateful to have been born in the same era as John Farnham. He IS The Voice! Every concert of his was amazing (I’ve been to about 15), but this one was extra special.
I love your comments about our wonderful John Farnham , especially when you said: "This man is a gift to a entire mankind!" I totally agree. John Farnham is The GOAT!
This concert is from 1989, which made John 40 at the time; in August 2022, John underwent urge surgery for oral cancer. John had a section of his jaw removed, and reconstructed; a year later he was declared cancer-free, and went through rehabilitation. John is getting better, apparently even singing in the shower; John celebrated his 75th birthday on the 1st of July, and still jokes around with his family and friends. John lost his longtime manager and friend Glenn Wheatley, in February 2022 ; then prior toJohn's surgery, he lost his great friend Olivia Newton John in early August.
John is still alive. He has had oral cancer and jaw surgery which must be devastating to a singer, but he's strong and stubborn. He was declared cancer-free in 2023 and I believe he is in good health now. he turned 75 this past July.
You need to see him sing "the Voice" at the same concert 38 years ago and he is now known as "THE VOICE". He is loved so much by all Aussies because he is not just a great singer but a great man who is so humble...
I think at least 90% of all Aussies know ALL the words to ALL of John's songs. Most of us oldies have been loving his music and him since 1967 when he first sang Sadie (the cleaning lady). We heard John speak last week, for the first time since his surgery, it was absolutely fantastic to hear his voice again. Keep getting well John ❤💚💙💜.
I had been to every concert when he came to Adelaide, when Stevie Wonder came for his tour he sat in the audience then got up to sing with him omy god amazing show, I've got some great photos. Jenny South Australia
The entire 'Classic Jack' concert was brilliant. Contrary to popular belief in RUclips comments sections, this was NOT the last song of a 3 hour concert. It's almost like an urban legend where people are continuing the misinformation! It was the last song of this (1st) encore that night (he was known to mix things up). He came back and sang another encore after Help where he sang Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top in this 2 hour (of singing) concert.
I just love your reactions Welder, to our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham! Yes John has recently turned 75 years old. xo ..I have been a devoted fan of John's since the early 1970's and have been so fortunate to have attended many of his awesome concerts over the past 4 decades. Please watch many more of his great hit songs and live performances, for example: 'Age of Reason', 'That's Freedom', 'Reasons', 'Pressure Down', 'Touch of Paradise', 'See the Banners Fall', 'Two Strong Hearts', 'Seemed like a good idea at the Time', 'Chain Reaction', ...just to name a few xoxo Deb🐝🌺🎶🎵🎸🎹
He is so great. We’ve had the pleasure in Australia to have had John’s majestic voice for over 50 years and it is so wonderful that people are just now discovering his magical music. John is such a great performer, all aspects of his epic voice, the love for his fellow musicians and the love for his fans, John is just there for the fans and the music. Great reaction and please do more of John’s music, there’s 50 years of it out there.
I have lost count at how many times I have seen him in concert and had the privilege to chat with him back stage at a night club. He also lives near me but that's all hush hush lol
Omg from Australia I'm proud, black and Aussie Aussie Aussie I'm 58yrs young and I been listening to Johnny since the beginning have a listen to SADIE the cleaning lady, this song helped many get through dark times....John rocks always has and always will
I was lucky, fortunate also privileged to present at this concert plus a few more of John’s concerts. When performing live, there are no one comes close to him, brilliant, exhilarating entertainment. PS This song was the last song of the concert, which was over 2 hours. 😱😱😱
I notice you have an AC/DC t-shirt on? You need to listen to John singing It’s a Long Way to the Top if you Want to Rock and Roll, an ACDC cover song with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Actually the song is from this same concert and it’s fabulous.
This is John's version of The Beatles classic song Help(1965), John sings it as a rock ballad rather than the original pop style; John first sang his version in 1980, in front of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Sydney Opera House. John Lennon was given a copy of Farnham's version, and Lennon was heard to say "This is how the song was meant to be sung!"; John Lennon had intended to release his own rock ballad of the song, but he was unfortunately killed later that year.
Would love you to provide ANY reference to Lennon every saying anything about Farnham's arrangement of the song. Or are you just rehashing oft repeated RUclips comments?
Thanks Welder Reactor 😊 I am late to the party as this video just popped up for me... odd 🤔 Never mind, I am here now! John's version of this song really takes you on a journey, and if it does not get you a little emotional, you may not be human 😅 I regretfully have not been to a Farnsey concert but I know from the comments of those who have, and watching countless performances, interviews and award acceptance speaches that he is one of the most genuine, humble and talented people out there. He really is all about the love and connection with his fellow man ❤ Thanks again for listening to John. Now onto the next video 😊❤
Welcome to Aussie music, have a listen to cold chisel song bow river , plus many more, ian moss singing Georgia. Jimmy Barnes from cold chisel and joe Bonamassa singing stone cold . Angels singing Marseille, or take a long line.. There are so many great music from Australia. Or try Eric Bogal waltzing Matilda. Or this is cool Tommy Emmanuel performing Initation live @ centre stage. Cheers enjoy the ride .Rock on 🤙🇭🇲🎼🎸
I believe there is a video link for the full Classic Jack Concert, it goes for over two hours including 2 or 3 encores. Another song I would recommend you react to is The Reason Why, written by Richard Marx and Phil Buckle; l would recommend watching the live performance from the 1994 ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards.
Although he's alive, he can no longer sing. Mouth cancer has stopped him. He's extremely lucky to be alive. He had to have part of his jaw and tongue removed.
Just on your Orchestra thing, you could also check out KISS playing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra! Probably God of Thunder would be my favourite at that concert! ruclips.net/video/vav3OGbVuys/видео.htmlsi=P2Sh50zife7R0dz_

"This man is a gift to the entire mankind." - haha, so true.
"A gift to entire mankind" just about sums him up, just about!❤❤❤❤❤
John actually first released this song in 1980. This performance was in 1989. So John was just happy that people still remembered it.
