I have been wanting this type of wheel. I have the GSI Formula Pro Elite and agree with your comment about the display. Early into the video, I went to Grid's site and saw the price and thought it was a bit high at $1049. You later told us the introductory price and I thought that price was a good price. Unfortunately I missed the introductory offer due to international travel for a funeral. I guess I'll wait for the next sale or a competitive offering. Thanks for the video.
Great vid as per, Dave. Great to see so much hype spreading for this wheel after all of the hard work Brandon and the guys have put into it. I haven’t preordered this but I own the Grid P911, so I’m aware of the super high quality they provide. Glad you enjoy the wheel.
You’re right, I have the GSI Simucube FPE and I hardly look at the screen. I look at my 4th screen above me more than I look at it. Im sad because I wanted the GSI wheel because of the screen. Grid just got a new customer. Thanks Dave.
Hi Dave - now that is a beautiful looking wheel - now I have to formulate a plan to get it on the rig without the wife finding out - wish me luck .....
Gorgeous wheel rim. It's both minimalistic and has a lot of functionality. Sadly it's out of my price range, but if I were able to buy this, I think I would buy it.
Very nice wheel! I actually feel this wheel would be very VR friendly as well, which for me is important. Now I'm tempted to preorder, even though I'm not really in the market for one atm.
Well I wasn't far off with my guess after you talked about the features and rotary mentioned encoder, button and LED counts. It's nice that it actually comes up a little lower than the $1K that I guessed it would set one back, but then again by the time you're all done I bet it will put one hell of a dent in $1000, which unfortunately puts it several tiers above my price range. That said, it's still cool seeing what's available toward the higher end and from the sound of it, this wheel may well compete with wheels costing much more. Maybe some day I'll be able to give serious consideration to purchasing such a fine example of engineering and manufacturing, until then I'll just have to covet and live vicariously through you. 😉😁👍

That is a nice looking wheel Dave. Plenty of buttons and encoders to suit anyone and the RGB LEDS really make it super usable. The LED rev lights I really miss as the McLaren rim I use doesn't have them. The mass will probably be a little too much for my CSLDD but on a more powerful base it would be perfect no doubt. @@Colin_Goes_Racing under a £1000 yh but not by a lot. Paying more for a wheel than most pay for a base and pedals is stupid. I have a simucube 2 pro and cost me £1150 these wheels are just super overpriced and people say "no there not look at others" and I say YEAH all over priced. The market needs customer to stop accepting £1000 plus wheels then the price would come down. Money isn't an issue for me but this wheel is over priced no matter how good it is and the LEDS look tacky tbh. Cube controls wheels look much much better and maybe not as top of the line as grid but grid is just owned by Sim labs so nothing special.
This wheel this awesome.... but 1000€ ?! Still hard for me to understand that carbon plate / aluminium, rgb leds, electronics, buttons and some assembly can reach 1000€ You can buy a nice PC upgrade or 3 screens or an high-end GPU for that Price. Steering wheel should be 200-400€ max especially when there is no LCD screen. I don't know why nobody create third party steering wheels in that price range. they would sell a lot of them. I'm curious to know the production cost of this to choose that 1000€ is the right selling price.
@@davecamyt But for exemple Fanatec has the McLaren GT3 V2 at 200€ (Nice shape, lot of buttons, can be modded to magnetic shifter and has dual clutch). But sadly you are probably right and the market is not big enough to reduce cost with mass production for the majority of companies ... lot of wheels are hand made (Gomez, Turn Racing, Polsimer for exemple) I would really love a 29-30cm wheel with magnetic shift and dual clutch in a sub 500€ range :)

Lovely wheel but prices are insane
Wow. This keeps getting more and more expensive.
nice yes but not worth 900 quid holy shit!
Looks like a very nice Wheel I have to say. Just looked up Price WOW.... No for me. If it was for a real race Car ,Yeah. I run in VR all the time so I though ,hey a wheel with no screen and fancy gadgets. Should be fare Priced and it might be but not for me . Good review Dave thanks.
Only wheel of its kind under 1k but you can’t please everyone
@@Colin_Goes_Racing yeah it's not about pleasing, it's about what u need and what u don't . Don't need a $1000 dollar wheel win there are a dozen cheaper option with more features.
1st 😁
hmmm, Jules got a new wheel?? maybeee? xD
Let's get all romantic! Love this, although I have recently preordered the GSI Hyper P1, so I will need osme time for my wallet to recover.
2nd lol
This wheel this awesome.... but 1000€ ?!
Still hard for me to understand that carbon plate / aluminium, rgb leds, electronics, buttons and some assembly can reach 1000€
You can buy a nice PC upgrade or 3 screens or an high-end GPU for that Price.
Steering wheel should be 200-400€ max especially when there is no LCD screen.
I don't know why nobody create third party steering wheels in that price range. they would sell a lot of them.
I'm curious to know the production cost of this to choose that 1000€ is the right selling price.
The reason nobody does it because I'm sure it can't be done.
@@davecamyt But for exemple Fanatec has the McLaren GT3 V2 at 200€ (Nice shape, lot of buttons, can be modded to magnetic shifter and has dual clutch).
But sadly you are probably right and the market is not big enough to reduce cost with mass production for the majority of companies ... lot of wheels are hand made (Gomez, Turn Racing, Polsimer for exemple)
I would really love a 29-30cm wheel with magnetic shift and dual clutch in a sub 500€ range :)
@@YouThober Fanatec McLaren is not even close to the same level of quality components used in the MPX, nor does it have the underlying electronics/functionality used here. You're comparing apples to oranges and then asking "Why doesn't the apple cost as much as the orange?"
@@VRSimulationStation but their right. The mark up on this must be huge. Also the reaosn they come out this price is because everyone is paying it and its around the price they all ask and they are all over charging that doesn't make worth that much or cost that much to make.
People are such sheep someone says its a good wheel and deal and they go "OK I'll buy" good sheep
@@YouThober but grid is owned by Sim labs so they're a big company who could charge less but don't want too.
It's the same with all material things. Womens bags my Mrs has dozens of some cost £50 to £100 but some are pver £1500 and look and do the same as the cheap ones the reason she pays it is due to name and that's all this is. Someone sees grid and thinks quality and never questions why are they so much.
I'm the same as you why can't we have nice wheels around £500. They would sell way more and make more money. Sell more expensive sell less make less money. Makes no sense.
China will change the market with the cheap stuff they will be throwing out and while it won't be anywhere near as good most won't care as long as its OK and a 3rd of the price this should then bring prices down
10 years ago a direct drive wheel cost me (Leo bodner) £3.500 and now my Simucube 2 Pro V2 cost £1150 and feels way better. Things will come down eventually
My god, definitely not value for money. It looks cool and I'm sure it works but 1k for a steering wheel needs to die. Great looking wheel minus the price.
I will stop following you Dave. Two reviews, two purchases. You are a bad influence for a sim racer and compulsive shopper!
Sorry 😁
@@davecamyt GRID MPX will be my 4th wheel. I have a GSI Formula wheel and while it is an amazing piece of hardware, you are absolutely right, I never watch the screen. Besides, I have recently purchased the Grid Porsche GT3 Display (whici I love, thanks to you again) and with the MPX I believe it will look stunning
Lights out, romantic… all that was missing from this was a bit Je T’aime. 🫣
