This was an excellent review Will. I own this wheel and it's quite stunning honestly. And it's very rare that the level of customer service matches the price point of this wheel. I'm a GRID customer for life.
Or you're a Grid employee, just posting something nice about your wheel. The gamers don't have such an amount of money, and the rich people have businesses, don't play games...
Lol! 😂 Believe me, I do afford it, but it doesn't value that much! Someone must be either filthy rich, just willing to throw money, either too addicted and brainwashed to spend 3k on this. Max 1k would be acceptable, but anyway.. not the one who asks 3k is stupid, but the one that pays is!

Owning this wheel since a week now... I fell in love with it when I saw pictures of it like a year or so ago... and now owning this thing? Amazing... Amazing to drive, a breeze to handle adjusting tasks while driving, the grips are ergonomically very very good, which actually surprised me, because they look very "standard" and thin... but that is eluding due to the fact the corpus of the wheel is big. Yet this thing looks elegant for what it is, a replica of a racecar steering rim. And I really like the display... this had me worried, too, because I doubted that it would be useful to look "down" to it midrace, rather be destracting... but I think it works like a charm. Especially if you are able to "unlock" it's full potential by aligning the wheel - if you are up to it, also along with your whole rig - just like it is in the real RSR, like a little bit higher than your chin when fully horizontal, so the display sort of get's in line with the virtual dash and I angled the grid rim on about 20°... which usually is too much, but somehow this fits perfect and doesn't give me any strain on my wrists... And the wheel is just a charm to handle... it's so easy to rotate your grip along with the steering angle yet not slipping away or pushing it in narrow corners causing your fingers getting sore. Especially driving the thing the wheel was designed for, it is a breeze to balance the RSR mid corner and you feel like you hold a music instrument or something... even though I drive it on an Asetek Invicta wheelbase with appr. 40-60% of it's maximum power, you don't need white knuckle style gripping. It's totally overpriced, but there you go, another Porsche fanboy totally not caring for how pricy it is.
Great review thank you. Apologies if someone else has already mentioned this but when the wheel was "launched" it was unbranded. If you Google p911 sim wheel you’ll find it. Was out of stock for months, then appeared branded as a Porsche item. I love this wheel. Really nice, however I’m tempted by the new Gomez wheel which is considerably cheaper. It also has the mini joysticks, which as far as I can tell the p911 doesn’t have unfortunately. I suppose you could work around it with the rotary encoders but sometimes it’s easier to cycle through pit options with a joystick style input. The p911 looks slightly better built but I need to save up first anyway and then decide. 😂

I’d love to see you compare this wheel to GSI’s Hyper P1. My suspicion is the GSI wheel will have superior functionality and will be a much better value. That licensing does surely increase the price point considerably.
If our math is correct, the price difference is somewhere around $100 USD. From V1 to V2, we added the mono/rocker paddle, upgraded LCD, Porsche license + some other changes and the price came down about $100 USD
@@grid.engineering may I ask how you calculated that price difference? The hyper p1 with 6 paddle configuration and an AH50 hub comes out at $1913, converted to € that’s currently 1757€, VAT included this would yield a total price of 2091€ for the hyper P1. I’d like to add that I am not saying your wheel isn’t worth the price since I am absolutely loving it and strongly considering getting one, I am just curious whether there is something I am missing here

"If You Have $2500 to Throw At A Wheel THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND" There I fixed the title. I get that this is a Porsche officially branded wheel but like you could get an entire Simagic Alpha U direct drive (23 nM) AND the FX Pro wheel with the display (Which now has the Porsche dash on the software as of yesterday) and STILL have $800 leftover. I'm sorry but these companies need to stop over pricing wheels and direct drive bases if companies like Simagic and Moza and Asetek are going to continue to offer every single item (direct drives, wheels, and pedals) and literally half the price, proving that the market is just overpriced with companies trying to make as much profit off of customers as possible. It's not right, and things need to change in the sim racing world, and I'm super happy the 3 companies I listed above are trying to be the change we desperately need in the market as consumers.
Let's just keep building and pricing for things until just like real life the only thing you'll do sim racing is turn a large pile of money into a small pile of money.
I have this steering wheel. The worst thing that I bought for money from simracing devices. 1. Mounting bolts are made of super soft metal and just first there was a backlash, and then an impossible knock. I had to disassemble the device and change them. 2. Front encoders are attached with adhesive. And from the moment of purchase, they constantly fall into the inside, and as a result, these twisters were not usable. Because they just got stuck in intermediate positions. 3. For the 5th lap after the purchase, the upshift paddle mount just fell off. 4. And the most irreparable is the soft grips at the bottom. They just constantly bend, which creates an unpleasant feeling and unnecessary backlash when driving. This steering wheel is not for drivers, it is for those who just want to ride with a beautiful toy.
You already answered me, thanks. According to your judgment, I myself broke the steering wheel and handles and buttons. Although my first unboxing was live and everything was visible from the very beginning. And you also offered me a shipment for my money. Thank you, it was cheaper and easier for me to fix it myself.
@FotonGT wow this is crazy to hear because like 2500 Euros for 1 steering wheel is a lot of money. You can buy a BMW M4 wheel from Fanatec for 1500 Euros that also works for the real GT3 which means it is Rock Solid because if it can withstand the forces of a real GT3 car then 1000% it will be ok for simrig. So yeah I appreciate that you are truly honest about your own product and therefor wake us up before purchasing such expensive product ! 🏁👍
I love the fact that you have (what I assume to be) an accidental German flag theme going on with your lighting in the space. Just perfect for the video.
One request. In future videos, can you add the durometer rating for the grips. I've used your videos as a guide for purchasing rims and that would help a ton. I used to get the F-Pro and the grips are rather hard. A non-subjective durometer rating will help us who purchase make a more informed decision as well. As we know, grips are the most important part of any wheel. Knowing the durometer on the rims with these types of grips make for better and more informed fans. Thanks as always for the great review. ❤
I really wouldn't rave so much about this product or the company. Paid full fare for it, waited months for delivery, opened box to find electrical problems with a rotary encoder PLUS a scratched porsche crest. After that I was only shocked to to find Grid's service *outright arrogant* and insensitive to customers actual needs. You buy this product you're on your own guys--you pray it just comes out perfect right out of the box, and if it isn't, good luck.
@@carracer48 The wheel is holding up great, and I have had no issues, it still looks like new. I am only doing Iracing at the moment working my way up. I can’t comment on the known issues of “light paddles” as it my first an only wheel but as I say I’m delighted, I guess ignorance is bliss and you get use to what you have, though I would be interested in trying the V2 just to see. I was involved in a very bad accident which has left me with limited movement in my right leg, arms and hands, I have problems gripping with my right hand, my issue with the Cube controls was purely ergonomics, the MPX for me just did a better job. As for buying more wheels it’s a dangerous hobby you always want the latest hot poop, I am probably looking at a “rally” style wheel next and give that a go. Hope this helps.
Yet another fantatastic review by Boosted Media, had a chance to try out this wheel and have to say this is probably one of the nicest sim racing wheel I have ever used. Looking forward to see what Grid engineering can do in the future!
Good to see you back. Hope you’re healing well. Best reviews in the biz and while I may not be the target market for some of these things now it’s great to be able to work my way through the sim racing landscape using these sweet reviews for when I’m ready to upgrade.
I'd like to see a XR mixed reality headset with software that lets you pass through reality windows just for the wheel and other parts of your SIM rig. So you can play in VR but still get the most out of wheels like this.
Excellent review for an expensive and beautiful wheel. not for my wallet of Shure. Great for you to be back, excellent studio and image shots. The sound is great too. So in resume an excellent studio to review an excellent Wheel. Great job Will 👍💪🔥🔥
Just a wake-up call for all the manufacurers asking insane prices for racing hardware.. of course, noone will read, but: the Quest 3 is 500$. Let's assume Meta sell it at no profit or even at loss, and they try to make money from the accessories. So let's say the Quest 3 value is 800$. How the hell can this wheel value be of 3 times more expensive? It's not by far as much technology in it. How can any other wheel be more expensive than 500$? How can some pedals cost more than 300$? The prices are insane, noone should buy.. just so they lower the prices. Okay, a hobby is a hobby, but WTF?
I have been looking for this wheel and could not find one, I like the ribbed aluminum shifter paddles, they are like the Megaline shifters on my Phoenix Class 1 DTM wheel. The Phoenix is the best wheel I have owned in terms of ergonomic and I just hope it would feel and handle the same.
The manufacurer doesn't understand that 99% of sim gamers aren't so rich, and they cannot afford this wheel, and the rich people don't have time to play sim racing games or they don't like them, they better drive their real Porsche, so for who the hell is this wheel for? It should be max 500$/€
Great review, thanks for that. I do own this wheel as well and I'm absolutely stunned by the overall quality of build and functionality. That said, I absolutely can't follow the previous comment about missing quality. Of course, when one heavily mistreats the wheel, it will break like the ones from any other manufacturer as well. If intentionally bending it, it will have some flex at the grips, but that's true for the real RSR wheel as well and won't be recognizable when used for driving purpose. Otherwise, what I saw until today at the GRID by Simlab Discord channel, there will be decent support in case of any question or issue. The wheel itself is truly on the heavy side, but on an SImucube 2 Pro, there is absolutely no drawback, I didn't even had to raise the FFB level as compensation. Regarding the grip's material I've to disagree with the review: when driving with gloves, the tacky feel is absolutely great, whereas the Cube Control grips feel slippy and like plastic. But this might be depending on the kind of gloves and if driving with or without. One point to mention is the missing power switch: If your USB ports will switch off power when the PC has been shut down, the wheel will shut down as well (BIOS UEFI setting). In the meantime, I've created a new SImhub LED profile for this RSR wheel, available for download at the mentioned Grid by Simlab Discord channel. This is an evolution of the one used for the review and much more refined. Now including LED flash and swirl effects for the side encoders plus game-independent flash effects for the buttons. Currently, is mainly for iRacing purpose, but other game adaptions will follow soon.
Great review! The moment I did see the release on FB, I snap bought it. I was looking around for a while to buy something like this.. And although it took some time to get it.. (like 2,5months of waiting) It is more then worth to wait for it. It is a well crafted steering wheel. And indeed.. to set it up in SimHub it took me a bit.. and it should be great of they have their release the software for it. But non of the less, A very happy customer here ^^ Great review, and it is exactly how you describe it.
@@grid.engineering how much does the Porsche name add to the cost? The price seems really high as it's something you won't sell very many of, which leads to a higher price
I ordered one of these a couple of weeks back, and have a GSI FPE. I didn't think I'd like the grips on the FPE as much as I do, but I hate the dials and the fact that they're not backlit. Anyways, looking forward to getting my hands on this, then to play exclusively in VR so I can forget why I even bought it.

If it is used as a steering wheel for a simulated racing car, it is a pity that there is no 7-way rod designed. The 7-way rod is too important for a simulated car. It's a pity.

Thanks for the kind words!!
Good to see you back. Hope you’re healing well. Best reviews in the biz and while I may not be the target market for some of these things now it’s great to be able to work my way through the sim racing landscape using these sweet reviews for when I’m ready to upgrade.
It looks gorgeous...... Thanks for the review Will
I'd like to see a XR mixed reality headset with software that lets you pass through reality windows just for the wheel and other parts of your SIM rig. So you can play in VR but still get the most out of wheels like this.
Love the new studio, always look forward to new videos. Can't wait to see what gear comes out for 2023 👏👏👏
What a review! Again top notch and very enjoyable to watch. Great job! 🙂👍
This wheel is such a beauty, definitely one of my top 3 now! Loved the vid, thank you!
Incredibly good review Will. Good to see you back looking healthy.
If I had this wheel I’d be too distracted by its beautiful lights to drive properly
I got a fancy wheel recently, not as nice as this but can confirm that's a problem.
Only just got myself a second-hand Clubsport v2.5 wheelbase and f1 esports wheel. And I think I need this one already 😂
Dang so expensive
Very Very Niiiiice 👌👍👍😉
Excellent review for an expensive and beautiful wheel. not for my wallet of Shure. Great for you to be back, excellent studio and image shots. The sound is great too. So in resume an excellent studio to review an excellent Wheel. Great job Will 👍💪🔥🔥
I stopped watching the video after price revealed. I will never be able to afford a Porsche, neither a replica steeringwheel. 🤣
Remove the Porsche logo and name and save $1000.00
showpiece ??? LOL
look at Precision Sim Engineering wheel 4K wheel 🙂
hello i am here from tiktok
licensecost is probably half of the wheel cost lol. The display does not add much to the price anyway.
Thank you for your feedback, my wheels should arrive here (south africa) soon.
Where may I find your LED profile on discord?
Great review! The moment I did see the release on FB, I snap bought it. I was looking around for a while to buy something like this.. And although it took some time to get it.. (like 2,5months of waiting) It is more then worth to wait for it. It is a well crafted steering wheel. And indeed.. to set it up in SimHub it took me a bit.. and it should be great of they have their release the software for it. But non of the less, A very happy customer here ^^
Great review, and it is exactly how you describe it.
Thank you!
Looks amazing even if it is insanely expensive
Mine has already came with the power button on the box and the allen keys.!
"Dirt, and Debris, and Dead Skin Cells". Ahh yes there it is.
Its cool but GSI Hyper P1 is GOATED
This vs the VPG V-RSPG Pro, which one should I get?
I wanted to get one after this review, but they are all sold out.
They’re laughing all the way to the bank. I expected for the price for it to be a higher quality
I have this wheel. It's worth EVERY penny.
@@andrewmissimer9053 happy you enjoy it
How can we improve it?
@@grid.engineering how much does the Porsche name add to the cost? The price seems really high as it's something you won't sell very many of, which leads to a higher price
Blow your mind and your bank account. Lol!
Great review.
I ordered my wheel, should get here soon.
Thanks Flavio!
WOW NICE WHEEL! *puts on vr helmet*
Many, many thanks for this review, Wil. After i saw your review on the Porche 10" dash i decided to buy one , OMG its amazing quality and very happy with my purchase.
Now after seeing this review , ill deffo be getting one of these wheels later :)
Awesome vid mate, Keep up the great work :)
Hey, great vid mate. Seeing as you are an ex-racer (as in a real physical ?) are you able to comment on how this compares with the "real" thing 🤔🤔
If it is used as a steering wheel for a simulated racing car, it is a pity that there is no 7-way rod designed. The 7-way rod is too important for a simulated car. It's a pity.
Ahuh yeah ow...ahuh ahuh 😊 yeah that sounds great ahuh...wait what!!! How much!?! Damn....😖
The product photos on their site are horrible. How they wanna sell anything with those pictures?
Great review! Beautiful wheel, but too expensive for my SIM racing hobby.
